Q&A With Vyacheslav Ushakov

Hello everyone,

Russian streamer Arti25 made a stream with WG employee Vyacheslav Ushakov, whom you might known as a “solid developer” (not sure it was transated to English like that, the chubby guy), who in reality works in video department of Wargaming. He also provided some interesting answers, as summarized by the FTA VK community:

- there will not be any tier 8 premium artillery implemented, the reason is “for people not to suffer”
- there are candidates for tier 4-5 premium artillery in the archives, but the question is whether they fit the game or not
- there are no plans to introduce second lines of artillery for various nations, not even in the long run
- full branch of Chinese artillery will come, “when it’s done it’s done”
- it’s complicated to put a Japanese full artillery branch together, no exact decision whether it will be there or not
- it’s easier to gather info from museums and archives these days than it was two years ago, many institutions do want a contact now that the game became so popular
- a story from the past: a bunch of Minsk players complained about low FPS. WG team visited them and cleaned up their computer and updated the software and there was a significant increase in FPS. So if you want more FPS, tend to your hardware.
- it’s possible a “light” version of the client (with WG-made “WoT Tweaker”) will be introduced
- European tanks should come soon, development is finishing (SS: this was in the transcript of the stream, but is definitely not true)
- 2015 will be “a year of random”, with new features developed for random battles players. Modes that appeared in 2014 will be polished.
- SU-122-44 will not be buffed
- gasoline system (limited fuel) will not be added
- “if artillery doesn’t make a sufficient amount of credits and XP, it will be buffed”
- all camouflage patterns are historical, there will be no “pink tanks”
- Havok is a resource hog, it’s being optimized
- apparently, missions with gold as a reward are undesireable, as a reward should be “something, that you keep, not gold that you spend”

Oh well, nothing THAT new, but the answers seem pretty…

*puts on sunglasses*

…solid.

      • ”Havok is a resource hog, it’s being optimized”.

they are telling same crap-bullshit-blabber for over a year now. waiting for 2016.

          • Are people unaware of what Havok is? It’s always been demanding; creating accurate physics simulations requires a certain level of calculations per second. WG is probably working on reducing accuracy and updates per second in order to obtain a smooth, realistic result that runs on calculators. Who knows? Maybe Havok will help WG optimize other parts of the engine. At least in 2006 or so, licensing Havok included having their team help you optimize their solution.

    • Its overpowered VS lower tiers, it is not overpowered in any other case. It gets quite boring after playing two T9 games in a raw in it.

      • i cant believe people asking buff for 122-44. so many tanks are fighting against tier 9′s with that gun. and some tanks are fighting against tier10s with same penetration. E25 is never OP against low tier tanks, because it has no armor, it has to be stay hidden all the time. it has speed but you know you cant fire at that 50kmh speed. so 122-44 is the OP one in compare.

        • never OP against low tier tanks? Ofc, apart from the fact that it can rip apart any of them before the E25 gets spotted (assuming that you’re staying on distance as you should with most TDs). Imo, E25 is op and su-122-44 is so too, the only difference is that the E25 does have limited MM on top of that. And yes, from what i noticed, I can fire quite well on the move.

  1. But… the brittish have 2 dessert (please tell me I got the number of “S” right) camo patters that are the wrong color, one of them is even purple-ish.

  2. I log on, see jingles, stop looking. Come back like 2 minutes later for the heck of it, get a Q & A :)

  3. “if artillery doesn’t make a sufficient amount of credits and XP, it will be buffed”

cant wait to see the reaction to that on eu forums…………….but first i must post it!! lol

      • We know, still it has to be buffed. It’s just ridiculous how many battles you need to get a t10 arty compared to normal grinds.
I just don’t get why WG doesn’t rebalance the XP income, it’s not like they make low XP since yesterday.

        • Well, that happens when you sit at the back the whole game, if you want more XP, do what most of the other tanks do.

    • The profitability is horrendous, even on direct, ‘spotting them yourself’ hits, you will not earn much exp or credits. I remember one game where I was assaulted by 3 enemy tanks over the course of the battle; I spotted and directly fired upon all 3 for kills… and still was at 9th place for exp. The premium lefh should be a profitability model. When they’re top damage, I see them at 3rd~5th exp. Perhaps 75% of that would be sufficient.

  4. -WG team visited them and cleaned up their computer and updated the software and there was a significant increase in FPS.

Wish someone can show me how

    • Well I wouldn’t mind limited MM with APCR ammo as standard and 300mm HEAT as premium ammo… Plus a substantial accuracy buff… Sounds reasonable to me…

  5. - 2015 will be “a year of random”

I’m sure they said the same thing about 2014. That turned out well.

  6. pls buff the SU-122-44, upgrade the gun to M62, limit MM to t8 MAX….increase Stalinium all around….buff top speed to 100km/h, also a special sticker “SerB is life, SerB is love” on it…

    ^_^

  7. - “if artillery doesn’t make a sufficient amount of credits and XP, it will be buffed” – this should be done a long time ago, arty overall makes the lowest amount of XP and their research costs are in many cases bigger then their tier counterparts in other classes

    • They will not do anything to it really. Think about it, Arty is hated among the community, so increasing the xp gain or decreasing the xp requirements will make me play my T8 french arty more often for sure. Something that WG doesn’t want to do.

      • If by ‘community’ you mean the whiny bunch that visits forums, sure. And even then it’s about 50-50 as polls have shown.

        • No, by “community” he means those select few with more than 2 neurons in their skull, who are good-and-upwards players, who understand the game and understand why the current arty mechanic is broken as fuck

          • Oh, so you mean the “community” that constantly bithes and refuses to give some money to the game because they cant avoid arty. I mean, if you’re such a good player, how come I manage to stay arty-safe while playing aggresive, while you just complain about broken mechanics?

          • The current arty model is terrible; they need to gain accuracy and lose sigma dispersion. A rework of splash damage would help everyone, too.

  8. Yes, it would be about time to hear something about the Tier10 Replacements for the British.

    • I don’t know why they can’t just add the new ones to the game and keep the old one. Why should the russian tree excist of 3 tier 10 mediums if not british tier 10s can that too?

      • they would argue that the fv4202 is buffed above it’s historical parameters so therefore replace it with another tier 10 which should fit the tier 10 role better. Also because it’s widely unpopular among all tier 10 mediums even with all the buffs they gave it. It’s by no means a bad tank it just doesn’t perform the medium role as well as the other mediums.

    Welcome to normal PC maintenance.

most pc users don’t know how to update their PC!

    - all camouflage patterns are historical, there will be no “pink tanks”

    thank you ALLAH

    - apparently, missions with gold as a reward are undesireable, as a reward should be “something, that you keep, not gold that you spend”

so we can spend money on something that goes away? like prem acc and credits and other stuff? so we can pay more often?

    • You will notice if you closely that those are not in fact tanks. Show me a tank wearing that camouflage and I’ll be convinced.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Mountbatten Pink as camouflage option for tanks, but none were painted that way historically. Only LaRo’s were.

  13. Sooo rewards for missions should be something you keep…
Not spend…. What about all dem credit missions? Premium days missions?

  14. - apparently, missions with gold as a reward are undesireable, as a reward should be “something, that you keep, not gold that you spend”

b.s i’d rather do missions for gold, than some repair kit or fire extinguisher. with the gold you can buy stuff that will remain, and you get to choose it. and dont forget its practical uses, like you need just 50 gold for a premium tank, but dont want to spend 5 bucks for the gold package.

  15. We can say that:

Vyacheslav Ushakov is a big fish.

(In Polish it’s “gruba ryba” which means someone who is high in the hierarchy of an organisation).
