More Thoughts of Personal Missions Fail by Tyraforce

Author: Tyraforce More thoughts on the Personal Missions fails Before I even start, let me make one thing clear. I do not think WG is generally doing a bad job when it comes to WOT development. Yes, there are bugs, lag and late rebalancing, however, compared to the MMOs I had previously played, WOT is pretty solid. I specifically remember one game (DDO), where you sometimes had a group of 12 people going on a 2-hour-long quest, which found the final boss stuck or there was another reason why the quest couldn’t be completed. The support would say “sorry, but you have to do it again”, which frequently caused an amount of frustration WOT cannot compete with. That said, I struggle to understand how WG managed to fuck up almost every aspect of the PMs. They had been testing and discussing them for months, activated them weeks after they were installed in the patch, yet they still look like something school kids developed during their 2-3 lunch breaks. Again, don’t get me wrong, I like the general idea of PMs and sure welcome an opportunity to give my T34 credit grind a rest but the extent of the fuck ups is just shocking. NAME FUCK UP: CHECK “Personal missions are named so because you have to complete them personally.” I wonder if WG realizes that you have to complete ALL the missions personally. You even have to personally buy the tokens to get your WZ mission done, right? But wait, some of these missions force you to platoon! “There are platoon missions, but those too are personal, because every player has their own personal role even in platoon missions.” Sure. I guess football is a personal game then, cuz every player has his own personal role. The funny thing is that in the mission menu itself WG uses the term ”campaign”, which surprisingly makes sense when referring to a set of stages with a common goal. Why not use it from the start or at least rename it now?

Individual Missions (EU) Writeup

Hello everyone, following is the complete list of individual mission objectives, pulled out from the EU client scripts, courtesy of Edrard from wot-news (whereas yesterday’s list was based on translations of Russian portal). Each mission listed has 4 sections: the first two rows are for StuG, second for T28C, third for T55A and fourth for Object 260. The first line is the primary, the second line the secondary objective. LT Mission #1 At lower tiers, your light tank can easily neutralize every other type of vehicle. Advise – Try to avoid head-on confrontations. Instead, try flanking your enemy or attack them from the rear. Observe carefully where the enemy vehicle’s gun is turned. Additional – Win the battle. Be among the top 10 players on your team by experience earned. Additional – Survive the battle. Additional – Win the battle. Be among the top 5 players on your team by experience earned. Additional – Survive the battle. Additional – Win the battle. Be among the top 3 players on your team by experience earned. Additional – Survive the battle. Additional – Win the battle. Finish the battle as the top player on both teams by experience earned. Additional – Survive the battle.

Storm Q&A

Hello everyone, what follows are the answers from Storm’s stream he made earlier today. I didn’t link it (obviously, no point since he was speaking Russian). I gave up after a while and translated Maiorboltach’s summary instead, thanks Mario :) – the reason the British were implemented in 9.5 is the fact that WG had the most good materials (sources, like drawings and such) for this branch – with other nations (French, Japanese MT’s), there are big problems with data collection – in WG concept, a branch without tier 10 doesn’t count as a branch, that’s why FV4005 was decided to be implemented – it took long to decide whether to implement FV4005 or not – in the end WG decided to make one of the tier 10 British TD vehicles heavily armored (FV215b) and one less armored (FV4005) to differentiate them – FV4005 turret armor is historical, Stage 2 was implemented because Stage 1 had an autoloader and no turret – the 9.5 branch is composed of only vehicles, that existed at least in prototype or even fought in the war

- Q: “Why are we forced to get the lower tanks before we can get the Object 260?” A: “How forced? If you don’t want to – don’t play personal missions.” – Storm states that he considers the current (9.5 CT2) way the personal missions work to be “better for WoT in long-term perspective” – Evilly (for RU server) states that Grosstraktor and T-34-85M are being sold only currently, it’s possible they will never be sold ever again (SS: yeeeeeeeeea right, remember KV-220…) – Evilly hopes that the FV4202 mission (premium FV4202 “for free”) will come in first quarter of 2015, the replacement (Action X Centurion) is not modelled yet – Evilly doesn’t consider it a problem that RU players guessed the marathon tank (WZ-111) correctly in advance (SS: damn right, these things SHOULD be known in advance – surprise my ass) – apparently, the WZ-111 is quite popular on Chinese server – second place after the IS-6 amongst the heavies – Storm confirms that the individual missions in CT2 are NOT final – the number requirements will be reworked and 10 mission parameters, that would have negative impact on gameplay will be reworked as well – the platoon missions will stay in the individual missions – Storm explaining how the individual missions idea started: “The idea of IM’s was born after the introduction of CW reward tier 10′s, when there was a massive butthurt along the lines of ‘let me get these tanks somehow’. There were many proposals such as ‘give us these tanks if we have all the tanks in the game unlocked’, they will remain rare and unique’ and so on. We decided to make it easier.”

Check out the Chieftain’s Hatch article on the Ripper camouflage (written for Xbox WoT) – A-32 will not get its highpenetration HEAT shells back (SS: IIRC A-32 is RU exclusive) – Storm states that IS-4 armor (during HD rework) will be somewhat improved – Evilly states that Xbox WoT doesn’t have the same number of players as the PC version, but WG’s not complaining (SS: in the sense it’s not considered a failure) – developers confirm, that the Panther 88 and other premium vehicles, intended for the premium shop, will not be possible to test on the test servers in the future (funnily enough, in the same thread a day before, the same developer replied that it will appear in the next iteration of the test, later he changed it to the answer outside the brackets) – M56 Scorpion is still being balanced – developers confirm: Individual Missions tanks (StuG IV, T28C, T55A and Object 260) do NOT earn more credits (like premium tanks). They earn “as many credits as regular vehicles”

9.5 Vehicle Changes

Hello everyone, let’s look at the vehicle changes in 9.5. The biggest change was probably the FV215b (183) rebalance. The armor change is described here (basically, front of the turret got buffed from 152mm (above gun), 127mm and 101mm (sides) to 170mm (above gun), 200 and 210mm (sides). To compensate for the changes, following mobility nerf took place: – terrain resistance nerfed from 1,2/1,4/2,4 to 1,8/2/3 – hull traverse nerfed from 32 to 24 Basically, the vehicle in the game is now a very, very slow but well-armored juggernaut (in contrast to the FV4005). StuG III Ausf.G got rebalanced: – stock track traverse buffed from 37 to 39 – elite track traverse buffed from 44 to 47 – 75mm gun (L/43 and L/48) traverse nerfed from -15/+15 to -10/+10 T37 Light Tank 75mm M6 and 76mm T94 depression got nerfed: – 75mm M6 from -9/+20 to -8,7/+20 – 76MM T94 from -9/+20 to -8/+20 Object 260 got new HE shells with the same properties as the old ones, but it’s possible the old HE alpha will be nerfed again Object 907 got buffed (see details here) Several tanks got their tracks model changed (Tiger, KV-1S and others). It’s not visible in the viewer, but in the game, it’s not really so bright. Plus, the Sherman hull recieved a slight retexture, just some small shadows added. Model changes: Hetzer had this little hole in the mantlet under the gun. It was fixed.

Evilly Q&A

Hello everyone, WoT producer Anton “Evilly” Pankov made a short interview for one Russian video blog or something. In it: Individual missions will not arrive with the 9.5 patch. They will be implemented and activated only after the Russian New Year marathon is over (15.1.2015). It’s likely that the datum is valid for EU as well, since the T-34-85M mission is ending on 15.1.2015 also. IM’s be split to seasons, with one season taking cca half a year. They will be separated by difficulty (StuG will be easy to get for everyone, while Object 260 will be obtained only by the most skilled players). Currently, all the “leaked” numbers (requirements) from IM’s are testing versions only. Evilly also confirms that you will be able to get the woman crews, but there will also be other items as rewards for the missions: consumables, equipment, credits and premium account days. Regarding the Russian marathon, there will be a different reward than T-34-85M for Russian server, it will be a vehicle, that “never appeared on any other server than the Chinese one”, so my guess would be WZ-111, but who knows. Anyway, back to Evilly – developers actually developed the mechanism for renting of premium vehicles, they are testing it now. As a first step, this mechanism appears only on Chinese server and after its results, WG will decide whether to introduce it to main regions or not. Oh and about the PvE, it’s possible that the mode will have “raid bosses” á la White Tiger or Ratte. And that’s all.

IM Tidbits

Hello everyone, just a few tidbits about the upcoming individual missions: – the final artillery mission for Object 260 is actually “be top 1 in XP and damage from BOTH teams”, not just your own team – you will be able to get a unique female crew – this female crew will have a unique perk, called “Sisters in Arms”, gives 5 percent to crew skill (same as Brothers in Arms) – it does not count as a “perk” XP-wise, so for the next perk/skill, a crew with this perk only needs enough XP to unlock the first perk, not the second one – this crew will be traineable for any nation and any vehicle type – these IM’s will be kept separate from the mission menu and have to be MANUALLY ACTIVATED, so you can’t just fulfill one “by accident”
