30.12.2014

Here’s a VERY interesting article about American military… thanks to FaustianQ for this one. Sort of depressing.

Also, having technical issues in 9.5? Here’s a WG guide of what you might check. Why this isn’t on the first page of the EU portal, I have no idea.

- in 9.5, the gun marks (rings) were not touched
- the current Russian peak (last weekend, compared to January’s 1,1 mil) is apparently 850k
- skill MM (“leagues”) was discussed and analyzed “more than once”, the conclusion was that it would not bring the incentive to play better
- Q: “Implement skill MM and see its results in praxis!” A: “Deal player, you can create your own online game and run experiments on live servers as much as you like!”
- claims that skill MM would improve gameplay “are not based on reality”
- the rumor that Havok was scrapped is false

T-54 Prototype – Historical Data

Hello everyone,

as you already know, T-54 Prototype (AKA T-54 Model 1945) will be the Soviet tier 8 premium medium tank. Yuri Pasholok on his blog published (along with the photographs) a sheet of data for the vehicle. You can judge by yourself how historical the vehicle is in the game (in the brackets, game value for comparison).

About the January Sneak Peek…

Okay, as you probably noticed already, there’s this January Sneak Peek article on EU portal now.

Totally new, exclusive info, only a month after FTR!

Two things about it, there are two things I noticed in it:

- “sisterhood of steel” girl crew perk – trying to pronounce it made me cringe. It sounds even more stupid in Czech by the way. Why not “sisters in arms” as opposed to “brothers in arms”? It would make much more sense, even from the translation point of view – compare:

RU: boyevoye bratstvo
EN (literal): combat brotherhood
EN (client): brothers in arms

RU: boyevye podrugi
EN (literal): combat (girl)friends
EN (client): sisterhood of… steel?

Meh.

Anyway, if you are asking whether the girl crew perk is compatible with BIA… no, apparently not (eg. having a crew with BIA with one member with SOS will not activate BIA).

- “winter game mode” coming at the end of January? Why? Russians have it between 5th and 15th of January. Perhaps not to mess with the IM’s? But why is it no problem on RU server?

In any case, the IM’s are supposed to start on 15.1. on RU server (EU server’s arms would probably fall off if they, you know, gave us the exact date).

Refund your Hitlerpanther

Hello everyone,

in the previous post, I forgot to mention one thing. If you bought the Hitlerpanther for old full price and do not wish to have it anymore (regardless of the 4200 gold compensation), Wargaming is offering to fully refund the vehicle – you get your money back, they will remove the vehicle and the garage slot.

If you want that, you have to contact the support service.

Keep in mind one thing however: it’s holidays and so your ticket will probably take long to be processed. It’s also possible your account will be locked until this situation is resolved (have seen that happen with other matters concerning money issues, specifically various chargeback cases).

Another thing also is that according to data from wot-news and Russian forums in general, the Hitlerpanther is the worst sold hightier premium EVER (with very poor sales during first days), which means WG can afford this (the complicated nature of refunds via tickets means few people will do this anyway), as only a couple were sold. That on the other hand means that this will likely not be repeated, like ever. Unless they release another equally unpopular premium :)

Leopard 2E in Motion

Thanks to Adam C. for the video (guys, when contacting me, leave some nicknames!)

Hello everyone,

basically, it’s some Spanish TV show or whatever, not too interesting. What IS interesting however is the end of the video, where (starting from cca 9:00), you can see the Spanish modification of the Leopard 2 (Leopard 2E) driving around. Leopard 2E’s full name is Leopard 2A6E (E as in “España”, Spain). It was produced between 2003 and 2008 with 219 built. It’s a significant upgrade over Spain’s previous 2A4 and M60 battle tanks, carrying a 120mm Rheinmetall L/55 smoothbore, 1500hp MTU powerplant and new type of composite armor, capable of reaching 68 km/h. It’s expected to stay in Spanish service until 2025 along with the older Leopard version, as current financial situation of Spain does not allow for notoriously expensive armor upgrade programs.

And no, you won’t see it in WoT :) Armored Warfare on the other hand….

2014 with Wargaming

Source: http://worldoftanks.ru/ru/news/pc-browser/1/facts_about_2014/

Hello everyone,

WG RU posted an article, where they are listing the 2014 results of World of Tanks. Here’s what happened with WoT in 2014 (I assume the numbers are RU server specific, not for the whole world):

- the amount of registered tankers increased 1,6 fold from 70 mil to 110 mil (SS: that’s odd, didn’t they say in late 2013 they have 100 mil?)
- the peak on RU server happened on 14.1.2014, with 1.114.222 players playing WoT at the same time
- WG team travelled 16500 kilometers from Vladivostok to Brest in France and met players in 24 cities
- WG organized 55 events through the year and met 100k players on them, they handed out cca 100k bonus codes
- there were WG League finals in Warsaw in April 2014, the stream was watched by 1,7 mil people

New Winter Mode

Hello everyone,

on 5.1.2015, the new Winter Mode is starting (on RU server anyway, but I am pretty sure it’ll be unified). Here’s a video for the event (with English subtitles). It will last until 15.1.2015.

In short:

- 10 vs 10 mode
- either “random” or “superplatoons” (5 man platoons)
- duration of battle is 7 minutes
- goal: to kill all enemy tanks or to capture the base (there’s only one like in the Encounter mode)
- three tanks: T110 aka Mammoth is a “tank”, then there’s Foch that’s a sniper and T-50-2 is a “scout”
- special type of shells – one normal AP and one that actually heals your allies, those are premium shells (for credits or gold)
- there will be a special medal

Russians also have a bunch of nice missions for this mode:

- take part in 25 battles (while dealing at least 500 damage, only 5 times per account), get 25k XP, 25k crew XP, 250k creds
- deal at least 3300 damage in a TD (repeatable), get 1500 XP, 1500 crew XP, 10k credits
- deal at least 2500 damage in a HT (repeatable), get 1500 XP, 1500 crew XP, 10k credits
- deal at least 1700 damage in a LT (repeatable), get 1500 XP, 1500 crew XP, 10k credits
- deal at least 15k damage (while playing in a platoon, the damage of the entire platoon adds up), get 2500 XP, 2500 crew XP, 20k credits

Just like with the Chaffee races mode, the XP gained will be transferred automatically after the event is over:

- from HT to T1 Cunningham
- from LT to MS-1
- from TD to Renault FT
