Storm: Vbaddict map statistics not correct

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2806890.html

Hello everyone,

recently, the Russian community discovered the vbaddict site and its map statistics. One of the prominent Russian streamers, Murazor, made a video, where he basically criticizes Wargaming for map disbalance and all that. Run-of-the-mill map moaning is not exactly something interesting. What is interesting is the fact that Storm appeared in the comment section to write about the vbaddict site.

According to his posts, the new map Northwest is not imbalanced (when it comes to base winrate, there is 2 percent difference). Regarding the site itself, he writes:

“I don’t know how they collected and processed the data but in the end they got some garbage. There are many disbalances, but other – not those they wrote about.”

Storm later states that he is aware there are imbalanced maps and they will be reworked in order to fix it. He also states he cannot post the exact list of maps scheduled for rework, but from his earlier posts we know Redshire and Highway are considered problematic, as are the Steppes (where a problem arose with the arty nerf).

From other info:

- there is a possibility roaming will NOT be implemented at all, there are a lot of issues, including technical ones
- the roaming we see on EU server is confirmed by Storm to be the test of the concept
- Redshire map is the leader, when it comes to camping
- Redshire will be reworked in the patch coming after 8.10 (SS: prolly 9.0)
- there is a slight disbalance on the Northwest map, it will be fixed
- Storm states that the site itself is fine, just the statistics are off

Apparently there will be an Ultimate Factory (National Geographic channel) show on Wargaming. Overlord posted airing times for each region.

- flower camo is not planned
- apparently, there is a general change planned for the Sixth Sense, camouflage and spotting mechanism, everythign will come at once
- there is a horizontal limit on the distance a shell flies (700m, after which it disappears), but there is no limit apparently on the vertical scale, so a shell can fly 10km up
- HEAT shells will be further detonated by destructable objects, only AP and subcaliber shells will penetrate them
- it’s possible there will be settings presets for the future in WoT client (“for headphones”, “for making video” etc.), these presets apparently won’t be stored server-side
- WoWp release was “normal”
- there will be a big WoWp optimization patch in December
- camo crew perk (SS: or any perk) has no influence on tank MM weight
- it’s possible there will be unique camos given out for finishing “quests” (tough missions)

New World Blues

Hello everyone,

today is 17th of November and here in Czech Republic it’s a national holiday: “The day of freedom and fight for democracy”. On 15.11.1939, the funeral of a student by the name of Jan Opletal (killed by nazis during a peaceful anti-nazi meeting) turned into a giant anti-nazi demonstration, giving Adolf Hitler an excuse to close all the Czech universities and to arrest teachers and students alike on 17.11.1939, with 9 students executed and 1200 arrested and dragged to concentration camps. It is also the day the so-called Velvet Revolution started in 1989, but given its “velvet nature”, it is the first event that gives this day the importance, not the second.

I do believe in remembering the war veterans (what the Czech community does about that you will see next week hopefully), but this article is about the specific group of veterans: the Czech pilots in British service, known for their blue uniforms. The article was written by PhDr. Ladislav Kudrna PhD. and its original name is “The Night Falls over the Men in Blue” (well, it sounds better in Czech). The events, described in this article are one of the reasons I hate communists so fiercely and should never be forgotten by us Czechs (and Slovaks of course). I am sure the members of other nations, that later ended behind the Iron Curtain will understand too. And as for the rest: take the Czech airmen as a warning.

Comments and other policy changes on FTR

Hello everyone,

as you know, since its start, For the Record had “free” comments. Anyone could comment without giving their name or address whatever. Until last night that is.

In the night, one or several individuals (hard to say with the proxy servers) spent hours spamming nazi shit in all the comments (stuff like “Gas the Jews”, “Gas the Polish” and other “nice comments”, usually reserved for random battle chat). I don’t know who it was, but before starting to use proxy, that guy (or one of the guys) used the same IP address as a commenter, that identified himself earlier as “EXN0M member”, bashing me for making a post about some of their members’ vile rants. This leads me to believe it was a “revenge” of some sort from one or more of their members.

Lately, I’ve also seen the increase of blatant spam, trolling and other dumb shit. It’s been tiring and to top it off, the WordPress ban filter seems to be buggy too (it banned people that shouldn’t be banned). Therefore, from now on, you will have to register in order to comment here. This change is permanent. I try to give FTR as much time as possible in order to live up to your support as readers, but I don’t have the time to browse comments all the time to remove the heaps of garbage that seem to appear lately.

Furthermore, this will be only the first step. I am working on implementing a system, where you will have to use either your Facebook account, your Google account or your Wargaming account to identify yourself. Basically, Disquis with a twist. Gotta discuss that with Edrard.

In short, I intend to do a big house cleaning. What was acceptable when this site had 1000 hits per day is not when it’s 100 times more. Ban system will also be fixed and improved (I am considering banning proxy servers altogether to reduce spam – at this moment, the spam filter sorts out like 1000 spam messages per day). By the way, the new design should be ready next week. It’s very simple, I hope you will like it.

But as for the comments: make no mistake – while I do believe in freedom of speech in general, this is my site and my rules. I am not obligated to allow free speech here. With that being said, there are basically only two simple rules here:

1) Nazi and communist propaganda equals immediate permaban.
2) Obvious spamming (“first!”, “donkey!”) will be punished – as I wrote, its amounts last week became intolerable.

I don’t mind offtopic discussion (it’s not like I’ll invite BigBadVuk or anything to police the comments…).

I am truly sorry it had to come to this, but this site is no longer a backwater blog it was months ago. Some of you actually requested this change. I hope it helps.

New picture of tier 10 Japanese tank. Notice the two STA-1 tanks (the proper one being tier 8) – this is because STA-1 was moved to tier 8 and Type 61 to tier 9. Thanks to gamer524 for letting me know.

Practically nothing today. But: Overlord decided to answer questions on World of Tanks: Blitz (WoT for mobile devices), you can ask him on his blog here. What we know from him so far:

- current stage is pre-closed beta, functionality and graphics are not final
- cca 85 tanks, 5 maps
- both iPad and Android versions are functional
- controls take a bit of practice, 20-30 mins, the more agile the vehicle, the more practice required
- will come in 2014

Hungarian armor part 4 – Toldi II, Toldi IIA, Toldi III

Part 1: Tas 44M
Part 2: Introduction and Straussler tanks
Part 3: Toldi

Last time we left the Toldi tank when first 80 pieces of Toldi I were manufactured. Toldi I was basically the original Toldi design, based on the Landsverk light tank, armed with a modified 20mm AT rifle. These 80 Toldi vehicles had serial numbers H301 to H380. After that, the type was redesigned to Toldi II.

Toldi II tanks were practically identical to the late Toldi I series. The main difference however was the fact that unlike Toldi I, Toldi II tanks were built from parts, manufactured exclusively in Hungary. That finally solved the issues with German supply chain to Hungarian army’s satisfaction. Another change was the upgrade of the radio from type R-5 to R-5a. These vehicles were manufactured partially in parallel to the older Toldi I model (using German parts) roughly from March 1941 to the end of 1941. 110 Toldi II tanks were manufactured, 68 of which were made by Ganz (H423-H490) and 42 by MÁVAG (H381-H422). By the end of 1941, the Hungarian army owned 190 Toldi I and Toldi II tanks in total – because of the continuous upgrades with locally-built parts, later on these tanks were practically identical (the only way how to distinguish them was the old frame antenna of the Toldi I tank and the new straight antenna of Toldi II, but both models were soon upgraded to the R-5a standard and this feature disappeared).

Here, a Toldi II (possibly in Russia):
