- in 9.1, LT’s starting from tier 4 will have their MM spread limited
- the reason why balance issues in random battles are not solved by increasing the MM weight if that respective tank is that increasing the MM weight doesn’t make players play that vehicle any less. This can be partially observed in the HB mode.
- Q: “Was it considered to implement a mode, where there would be no bases and the battle would be won only by killing everyone?” A: “T95 GMC on one team and T71 on the other are not amused”
- damage model changes in WoT? Storm: “And who needs that?”
- apparently, Edrard’s wot-news cehicle statistics are wrong (Storm: “This is not statistics, but god knows what”)
- for now it is not known how (if) gold ammo will be rebalanced, developer opinions differ
- the 25 percent RNG is “optimal for WG playerbase” and won’t be changed
- there will not be a common server for EU and RU players (“wait for roaming”)

9.4.2014
- various “which tank is the most popular” polls have no influence on tank balancing
- Q: “Will the rework of tanks to HD models be made based on historical battles or popularity amongst players” A: “One does not interfere with the other”
- apparently, more things (such as destroyed tank models) are not scheduled to be pre-loaded into memory during map loading, because it would pointlessly clog the computer’s memory, while the “microfreezes” (when a tank gets destroyed, the game lags a bit loading the destroyed model) are bearable
- ingame accuracy of a gun does not influence the chance of the shell to fly towards the aim circle center
- accuracy ONLY influences the size of the aim circle, that means that for example a gun with 0.36 acc and another at 0.46 acc, if the aim circle of both guns is of the same size (SS: when for example the first gun moves with the turret), the chances to hit for both guns are the same
- 25 percent penetration RNG will NOT be replaced by lower number, because a) it reflects real life randomness better than say 5 percent and b) in such a case, well-armored tanks would be too difficult to deal with
- Storm mentioned that some least popular maps could be removed altogether from the game, Windstorm will not be amongst them
- league system for random battles will not be introduced
- gold ammo for credits will not be removed
- developers are slowly starting to deal with tier 2-5 balance (SS: goodbye, sweet T18)
- retraining crews to different roles (SS: as in, radiomen to drivers for example) will come, “it’s done when it’s done”
- apparently, Storm thinks that after the introduction of the new modes, noone will play companies anymore
- 2014 will bring 3 new tier 8 medium premiums (SS: we’ll see :) )
- An option to re-buy once bought premium tanks for credits? Storm: “We’ll have to think about that”
- the plans for new game modes, unveiled in today’s video, apply for this year
- it’s not planned to implement the option to select, which HD content you want and which you don’t
- the feature to get your unique/reward/premium tanks back is tested on US server, it will be available on RU, EU and ASIA as well
Storm: “Arty will have to be nerfed again soon.” Link
Storm asks: “What would you like to see in WoT”?
Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/285427.html
Hello everyone,
Storm is asking: “What would you like to see in WoT in general?” – by “in general”, he means stuff like “I want big maps” or “I want more new tanks” etc. – anything, really. So, what would you like?
From the discussion:
- the option to set your activity status in chat (DND, AFK etc.) will be implemented
- new chat is developed, but it was seriously delayed, because it’s difficult to make it work for a million people at once
- an indepenedent, separate client only for chatting with WoT/WoWp users is planned, based on HMRR protocol
- “simulator mode” (hardcore mode without hitpoints): “If we ever do such a thing, it will have minimal priority, in other words ‘hell if I know when.”
- ETA on fortifications? “I won’t say exact time not to jinx it, but quite soon”
- there is a plan to make currently useless skills and equipment more useful, developers are thinking about now
- regarding wishes for large flat maps: “And you have played such maps before? Shooting two pixels is not fun. We tested that many times.”
- big maps are an interesting matters, if the issue with slow tanks is solved, but 2-3km viewrange is questionable
- instead of implementing map choosing for random battles, Storm wants to remove 10 least popular maps from the game. This is just an idea and it is not yet sure which maps, but developers like it
- disabling maps you don’t want to play will NOT be implemented. Storm states that they wanted to do it, but they ran some simulations and the waiting queues would be too long.
- WoT will not be integrated into Steam
8.4.2014
- the camo/visibility/spotting system was developed from the beginning of World of Tank development (SS: eg. it wasn’t introduced later)
- HD model of the T34 (premium heavy) gun will have gas ejector (SS: only visual change, no change in game)
- there is an internal counter in World of Tanks about how many trees you brought down – this was implemented a long time ago, when there was a developer idea to implement a special “medal” for bringing the trees down. In the end, they decided not to implement it, but the counter stayed.
- there was some confusion about the “raw XP” counter in World of Tanks. Apparently, from 0.8.8 patch onwards, there are “additional data” available for each vehicle (via API interface), such as “raw XP” (XP without premium account). These statistics are not in the client, they have to be enabled by using XVM and some Russian players were confused, because they didn’t know about it. Developers stated that this has been around for a while and that it’s a thing they don’t consider very important. Apparently, this won’t be implemented into the regular (non-modded) game.
7.4.2014
Not much today
- the autoaim was reworked in 9.0, because on some vehicles, the old one was aiming in the air
- apparently, the Tiger I HD model might be to high? Not sure, basically, a player posted this picture of the HD model and then this photo along with a few others, Storm only said that they checked, nothing else
6.4.2014
Check Listy’s post “Why is the rum gone?” – yes, it’s quite funny :)
- apparently, one of the least popular jobs for support crews is restoring stolen accounts, because every item has to be checked and restored manually (that’s why it takes so much time)
- using profanities in tickets unofficially leads to support staff giving them lower priority/ignoring them altogether
- it’s poitless to ask support to add awards you feel you are entitled to (achievements, heroes of battle etc.), they can’t do that (only high level developers apparently can)
- apparently there is this problem, where in historical battles, if the setup requires stock suspension, you can’t mount equipment too heavy for stock suspension in the HB mode. What you can do is quit the HB mode (switch to random), mount elite suspension, mount the equipment and switch back to HB. Equipment will stay even if the carrying capacity is not enough. It is not clear, whether this is a bug or a feature.
- graphic settings window won’t be reworked for full-screen
- SU-152 in HD will come this year
- the ugly lighting from test 3 of 9.0 is known, it will be fixed for live version
- Q: “War Thunder T-34 model has prettier engine deck!” A: “How terrible”
5.4.2014
Sorry for the delay. Originally, I wanted to leave it till tomorrow, but what the hell.
- the turret of the HD T-54 is apparently placed correctly (SS: some player asked whether it shouldn’t be moved a bit to the front)
- Storm confirms that the green tint in sniper mode in 9.0 will be optional
- the sounds of tank destruction from 9.0 test will go to the live server apparently, they are popular (SS: it’s like a “thunk”, sounds pretty cool)
Well, not much today anyway, back to code rage :)
4.4.2014
- the “twitching” (moving by jerks) of minimap tank icons (they don’t move smoothly) is intended in order to save traffic
- apparently the current latest Tiger HD model is correct, when it comes to size
- apparently, Murovanka in 9.0 is still quite dark, because its lighting wan’t fixed yet
- M103 HD roadwheels are still sort of “rectangular” (they have visible edges, they aren’t completely round) because it is a necessery simplification: there are many smaller roadwheels on M103 and making them smoother would require much more resources
- latest test hangar is still not optimized for best FPS
- the HD Centurion side plates are scratched, because in real life they were easy to scratch
- 9.0 autoaim (aiming lower than in 8.11) is intended and will be implemented
- some models have worse visual quality of tracks in hangar than in combat, this will be fixed
3.4.2014
- for now, a hardcap on SU-152′s in Kursk battle has not been implemented
- this year, Chinese and Japanese TD’s and SPG’s will definitely not come
- Storm states that in order to implement historical battles like Korea and Middle East, you have to implement the crews of the nations, that fought there, it would look really strange to have Soviet crews in Yom Kippur or American crews in Indo-Pakistani conflict, that’s why Korean historical battles will likely not come for now
- collecting the info on new Chinese vehicles is going very, very slowly, WG is instead focusing on re-work of existing vehicles to HD
- it’s completely possible that the turret armor of other T-54-like vehicles (Chinese) will be reworked, when they are remodelled to HD
- Chaffee in test 3 has its old turret back, because the new one was put in accidentally and has many bugs (SS: Chaffee re-work is planned for the introduction of hightier US lights)
- Storm confirms: LT’s will be buffed and new tier 8 LT’s will be introduced
- tier 9 LT’s? Storm: “Hell if I know. For now, they are not being sought. We barely found tier 8″
- SK-105 Kurassier will definitely not fit WoT: it’s too modern
2.4.2014
Check out Chieftain’s article about T28 deployment in Korea!
- in test 3, HD Centurion 7/1 should appear
- gun damage (alpha) is an arbitrary number, two guns of the same caliber do not have to have the same alpha
- the same gun can have different rates of fire in different vehicles, the difference lies in “setup of the combat compartment”
- in current round of 9.0 test, there is a bug where users of AMD processor PC’s suffer from disconnects, this will be fixed in next round of test
- Storm is aware that the weakspot of current WoT graphics is the grass and trees/bushes, he mentioned increasing the radius of grass render and the multi-layer grass
- when considering squeezebore weapons, the number, used for the purposes of overmatch and other calculations where caliber is required is the nominal gun caliber, not the shell caliber (in case of Waffe 0725, that number is 75mm)
- apparently, the developers dealt with the bug (appearing on current live server), where due to strong unsynchronization between server and client reticle (aim circle), shots were flying wildly out of the client circle
