Whine of the Banned Botter

Source: http://www.thebuddyforum.com/tankleader-forum/ban-section-ban-reports/149348-ban.html

Hello everyone,

since I am naturally an evil person, nothing makes me more happy than to see the whine of a botter, caught in the act and his account permabanned. His tears are delightful and although he managed to have his ban “overturned” to an account wipe, he raged even further. Pretty funny stuff :)

Meet Vend3tt4, a convicted bot and hear his moaning :) By the way, the first support worker’s name “Antoine Dodson”…. I am almost certain the name is fake, but if it’s really his name… poor guy.

Edit:

You know who this guy is? His name was familiar to me. Remember the FTR Bot Menace post with the T-54 bot video, demonstrating the new and “advanced” bot version? He’s the guy running that bot.

Be careful, the post is very long (TLDR: botter rages, WG support is resolute, results in account wipe).

US T92 Light Tank – tier 8?

Hello everyone,

not so long ago (prior to the introduction of patch 8.11), Storm mentioned one of his comments that there are two candidates for tier 8 American light tank: the T49 (upgunned Walker Bulldog) and the T92 Light Tank.

The T92 was being mentioned as a possible tier 8 American candidate on forums ever since the tier 8 light tank concept came to be – or, at least, ever since there was a talk of introducing high-tier scouts for other nations than the French. This of course happened (with various degrees of success), but the Americans are still waiting for their high-tier light tanks and it looks like they might get them this year. But is the T92 REALLY good enough for it to be a tier 8 candidate? Well, let’s have a look!

On lags…

Hello everyone,

there is a lot of information going on around the forums about the EU server lag, but it’s scattered all over the place. I did a little investigation of my own, asked around in Russia – didn’t uncover much, but the following is known:

- it is now confirmed that the EU1 server was moved to Amsterdam
- this movement was not caused by the current issues! It was in the making for quite some time, as indicated by the fact it was done practically instantly, where the physical moving of the EU server would require days of downtime, while Wargaming simply switched to ID
- currently, EU1 is running on something that was previously “EU3″ and was prepared for this move, Russian sever RU3 is running on something that was unofficially designated EU4 (it was also moved from Munich)
- the reason both servers were moved from Munich to Amsterdam is unknown
- apparently, Wargaming servers are not the source of the lag issue, the routing is – a new route via Cogent (SS: whatever that is) was created and is in use. My contact’s words: “I suspect they’ve screwed up the BGP or the balancing on the new route” (I better quote it, I have no idea what that means)
- there is currently a massive DDOS attack going on, based on something called “NTP MONLIST”, Wargaming is not the target specifically, but this attack might be clogging the routes
- at this moment, WG RU in Minsk is directly involved in the situation, there is pretty much a gag order for the WG EU employees about it: even if they know, they aren’t allowed to tell you anything, that hasn’t been officially approved. Which takes time.

8.11 Feedback

Hello everyone,

so, it’s been a few days since the 8.11 update, so let’s have a look at what it brought – I will be specifically referring to the EU servers, but from what I could gather, US servers seem to be plagued by the same issues as well. First, the positives:

- new maps: both Windstorm and Ruinberg on fire are visually beautiful. Windstorm gameplay… well, I actually didn’t get that map a single time on random, so I can’t judge, but from the test server it was nice. I like it.
- FPS increase: overall, my FPS increased – not by much, but every bit helps
- TD nerf… I guess… I mean, I never complained about TD’s being OP before (apart from the WT E-100, which is still pretty ridiculous) in the first place, can’t judge
- new UI features, which are nice, but old habits die hard, so I just retrained all the crews I needed manually, before I realized I can do it with one click only now – useful, but… yea, okay, I am conservative

And, negatives

WG EU: Weekend Fail

Hello everyone,

you know how it is with Wargaming EU: not a weekend without fail! This Valentine weekend was especially ripe with it. Let’s start with the “1 day premium” account, that was awarded ever since Wednesday (before the missions were announced) and many people quite reasonably thought it’s some sort of compensation for the terrible lag fiasco of last weekend and this week. That was not the case, it was a Valentine gift for everyone – because, you know, it’s SO hard to set a mission to start during the actual event time.

Funnily enough, even WG support staff thought that it’s a compensation for the last weekend’s lag.

And the weekend event itself? Well…

Retraining 50 percent off? Cool, isn’t it? Yea well…

No discount for silver retraining. Which would be okay, if it was announced properly!

*sigh*

Russian players have this meme, that can be roughly translated as “Wargaming as usual” – maybe we should start such a meme here too. As usual.

Hello everyone,

Yuri Pasholok (no matter what we might think of him personally) posts some pretty interesting stuff occasionally. This time, it’s a couple of photos of the Valentine tanks.

Here, a demonstration of first Valentine VI tanks, created by Canadian Pacific Railway, Angus Shop, Montreal, 17.8.1941

And these are the photos of the Kubinka Valentine II, located outside of the museum under the open sky – and apparently, it’s the only tank of this type, left in Russia. The vehicle is well preserved, including its serial number:

The premium account mess on EU

Hello everyone,

because I recieved two e-mails about this, just to clarify to avoid confusion.

You might have noticed that Wargaming EU decided to give us a free day of premium account during the Valentine event. That’s cool and all that, but it wouldn’t be Wargaming, if they didn’t do it without a fail. You see, they activated the “mission” to get the free day early. All of us who logged in this week (specifically ever since Wednesday) recieved it already.

The thing is, most of the people thought it is a compensation for the disastrous last weekend server behavior. It is not. There has been no compensation for that (and as far as we know, there will not be any), this is the “Valentine Gift” for everyone. Instead of a day of premium, I’d rather hear:

- what went wrong
- how was it fixed
- that it won’t happen next weekend again

If WG staff argues this one day serves as a compensation – no, it isn’t, the Russians got a day of premium as well and they didn’t have server trouble like this.

Or did I miss a post explaining all this?
