On codes

While it’s fun to rip off Wargaming (preferably WG EU) by bruteforcing codes, I am starting to doubt the morality of such an undertaking. Long story short: about an hour or two ago, Russians acquired a “template” from an European magazine for some warplane, some gold and 5 days of prem. They are bruteforcing it even now, which means that whoever buys the magazine will get a code, that has already been used.

Personally, I think that such a person can always contact WG support to remedy the situation, but it is still annoying. Since I didnť know where the templates come from before, I posted them. This time however the template clearly comes from a magazine (even the Russians say so) and I won’t knowledgeably rip off EU players this way. I also removed the previous codes post from today (from the feedback they didn’t work anyway).

What do you think? Should we continue this code mining, or should I let it be?

Matchmaker Video – Wargaming Update

Source: wargaming.livejournal.com/845.html

Hello everyone,

well, for once, this is something noone else seems to have, if I see it correctly :) The link above leads to the new Wargaming LJ blog (in Russian of course). How do I know it’s legit? Because Cannoneer (WG RU developer) sent me a link (so credits go to him).

So, you’ve seen the MM video, right? If you haven’t, you should, because this post refers to it. In order to repeat what was in the video though:

- there is a possibility of the MM to create non-standard teams. The amount of such battles should not exceed 5 percent from the sum of all battles, but in concrete situatios this number can vary in accordance with the theory of probability. For example, if you played 10 battles with IS-3 in a row and in 3 of these battles you encountered a breach of the “first 5 slots” rule (tiers of top 5 vehicles were not equal), it’s not a MM error and it most likely won’t repeat itself in next 10 battles.

WG EU: Czech Portal Fail

Hello everyone,

while translating newest batch for QA, I came upon this brilliant piece of Czech portal translation. This appeared in the Czech weekly missions on WG EU portal:

czfail

As you can see, it’s not the infamous language bug (random switch of language), as the rest of it is in Czech. They just left a part in English and (I assume by some form of copypaste) inserted Czech words into English text. Stunning, simply stunning. It’s been fixed after a while, but why the hell do they release it with such bugs in the first place?

How MM works

Hello everyone,

I don’t usually repost Wargaming videos, but this is actually quite interesting. As announced earlier, WG did finish the movie about the inner workings of the matchmaker. Here it is:

However, if you expect some breaking new info, you will be disappointed. It’s a basic sum up of the stuff you can already find at World of Tanks wiki mechanics page. The only thing I didn’t know (or maybe forgot) was the fact that MM starts to ignore some of the rules after 3 minutes – I thought the “ignore” order is based on server population.

Still, in case you never bothered to read the basics or the advanced stuff on wiki, I suggest you have a look at it :)

No WG meeting for you, SS!

Hello everyone,

if you follow FTR on Facebook, you probably know about this: on 13.12.2013 I will not be attending the WG community meeting in Prague, apparently because I am persona non grata, along with carramba66 (you might remember him as the organizer of the veteran tanker charity event) – the applications were handled at first on “first come first serve”, we both applied in time, after which the system got changed to “everyone can apply and WG will handpick people attending the event” – you can imagine how that ended.

It’s a shame, because I was looking forward to meet some of you guys (shocking fact: even Czechs read FTR!), but it is how it is – in a way it’s a good sign, my hard work on pissing them off did not go unrewarded :)

Leaked bonus codes

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2849422.html

Hello everyone,

The Russians managed somehow to get their hands on a method, how to get “free” codes. Basically, they figured that when you enter a bonus code in following order:

EU8nxxnx

where n is a random letter and x a random number, you can redeem a code for your existing account. Naturally, I went to try it. From 5 attempts (then the system kicked me out for inputting too many codes in short period of time), 4 said invalid code and 1 said that the code was already redeemed. That means the code works on EU server too (Russians probably “stole” this way a bunch of codes intended for EU, since the code starts with EU). Examples of codes already tried:

EU8R25N3
EU8R82N2
EU8R63K9
EU8F58A3

So – if you want to spend an evening figuring combinations, go nuts :)
