New Stronghold Consumable

Hello everyone,

during his interview at Igromir 2014 (Moscow), Anton “Evilly” Pankov showed how the new Stronghold mode consumables would work – well, one of them (the ones mentioned were air recon (basically it spots the enemy tanks), air raid, artillery fire mission and AI turrets (“bunkers”)).

Check this video:

At 8:45, you can see for a short while the artillery fire support on the screen behind Evilly. A player will be manually able to select the angle of attack in order to take the landscape into account, you can also select the area on which it falls and the power of the artillery (SS: this will likely depend on the Stronghold tier). A clan can produce consumables in SH and use them.

There are no “normal” answers again, so here are some answers from an interview with Anton “Evilly” Pankov, WG producer from the Igromir 2014 expo. The interview video can be found here.

- most players of World of Tanks are between 28 and 35 years old
- 95 percent of game time spent in World of Tanks by players is spent in random battles
- from the start, more than 150 thousand clans registered in WoT on RU server alone (it’s more than 200k overall)
- on RU server, cca 32 percent of players are in clan
- Stronghold mode was introduced for that 32 percent (easy to understand mode not for hardcore)
- currently, developers are working on improved clan UI
- the option of attacking other strongholds will come in October
- developers are planning to introduce mercenaries from “allied clans” in stronghold mode (not only clanless players)
- there will be a clan “shop” in the Stronghold mode. Each clan will have a “shop”, where they will be able to buy unique tanks, camouflage and emblems for the SH resource
- developers are also making special Stronghold consumables: aerial recoinaissance, artillery fire mission, air raid, bunkers (AI turrets), these will be used by clan commanders
- these will not be used in random battles: “as everybody knows, in random battles, you have 29 opponents and to give this to everyone wouldn’t be good”
- the most effective of those consumables is according to Evilly the aerial recon, because knowing where the opponent is is important
- currently, developers are working on Stalingrad map, making it ready for Havok, it will not come in 9.4
- during map rework for Havok, MANY objects have to be reworked, it’s a lot of work
- Havok will be active on medium (and higher) graphic settings, it will work on a separate core (on multicore processors)

War Thunder “Victory is Ours” Trailer

Hello everyone,

say what you want about War Thunder, dislike or like the game as much as you want, but whatever your opinion on Gaijin vs Wargaming is, there is one thing that Gaijin is absolutely undeniably superior to Wargaming: epic game trailers. While Wargaming trailers are usually relatively boring (comes with having no men in them), Gaijin on the other hand produces this… and it’s a beauty.

To be quite honest, I think this is definitely one of the best game trailers I have EVER seen, for ANY game. Enjoy. And Wargaming, you have some catching up to do.

Attack of the Clones

Hello everyone,

you might have noticed that yesterday, we recieved yet another copy of the T-54, this time in the German tree (I wonder if we’ll ever get an American T-54 clone as well). On one hand, it’s a solid tier 9 reward tank and – let’s face it, the model is beautiful, all that I am missing are the external fuel tanks, but I can see why developers didn’t add them (they wouldn’t be a part of the hitzone and people would be confused: “why the hell does it not catch on fire, when I am firing at his fuel tanks”). Another neat part is that according to the source of the leaks, developers are even making the East German crest on the tank, just like the Leopard has a Bundeswehr one. I do not understand the designation too well – I mean, T-55 NVA DDR? In English, NVA almost always refers to the army of North Vietnam and I can already see how people will be confused (“we are having a Vietnamese T-55 in German tree?”). Why not Kampfpanzer T-55 or even Kpz T 55 (without the dash), that’s how the vehicle was designated in some German sources and books?

Straight Outta Supertest: T-55A NVA DDR

Source: VK Wotleaks community

Hello everyone,

as announced earlier, T-55A appeared on the supertest as a German tier 9 reward/event tank. It’s official designation is “T-55A NVA DDR”. The designation reads:

The T-55A is an improved variant of the T-55 tank. It differs from the T-55 by the absence of the AA machinegun and improved WMD protection. Roughly 1800 T-55 and T-55A tanks were exported from USSR to DDR between 1962 and 1970.

The post about the leaked tank statistics was deleted. It turned out that the statistics were only placeholders, so it was pointless to publish and it would only confuse people. The T-55A should be leaked later today, we’ll have to see.

Otherwise, there’s really nothing going on I think. Check in a bit later for the T-55 (if it goes out today).

Straight Outta Supertest: Current Batch of Vehicles

Hello everyone,

according to a comment in VK Wotleaks community, the following premium/reward vehicles are currently scheduled for supertest:

- Object 260 tier 10 Soviet heavy tank (scheduled as a clanwars reward, basically an IS-7 variant with different turret)
- T28 Concept (based on the wooden mockup as a tier 7 US TD
- East-German T-55A medium tank (because, you know, there are not enough T-54 clones in the game) tier 9 tank (likely an event/CW reward)
- tier 6 premium M4A3E8 variant (“Fury”, apparently)

Expect screenshots and statistics soon.

Russian Igromir 2014 Expo

Hello everyone,

today is the third day of the Igromir 2014 game expo in Moscow (the expo is open between 2.10. and 5.10.2014). If you haven’t heard of it… basically, what E3 is for the USA and Gamescom is for EU, Igromir is for Russia. And, of course, you guessed right: Wargaming’s there. Here’s one of the “day summary” videos Wargaming is posting on Russian portal. It’s in Russian obviously, so just for you to see how it’s looking (I like the host, isn’t she cute?)

You might ask of course: “why are you posting this?” Well, two reasons really. First reason is that it explains the fact that there’s not much going on with the developers at this moment. They are busy. On the other hand, Anton “Evilly” Pankov (WoT producer) is there and he’s answering some player questions, so we might get some info after all.

Second reason is, there’s actually a live stream. You know, with everything. Dancers, the show itself, whole day and all that. So, my question is: why the FUCK did we not get the same thing on Gamescom and instead, we had to watch a bunch of guys stroking each other’s… ego in a closed studio? Yes, I am still annoyed by the Gamescom “stream”.

Anyway, here’s the stream. Obviously, they are speaking Russian, but if you were to… say… greet them in English in the chat… in large numbers of course, I am sure they would totally appreciate it! :)

Military Oddysey Photos

Hello everyone,

Khitan (from EU server I assume) sent me a couple of interesting photos from the August Military Odyssey event in Kent. Like other such historical meetings, this one too had some re-enactments and all that – including some with Panzer III and StuG! Well… okay, not really, but it’s still interesting, check this out.

Straight Outta Supertest: T95E2

Source: VK Wotleaks community, http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3526751.html

Hello everyone,

a new tier 8 premium/reward tank appeared on supertest, the T95E2. Some are speculating that it’s a reward tank, but nothing is confirmed at this point. The distinction between a direct premium purchase and an earned campaign reward is a crucial one for player retention. Modern digital ecosystems rely heavily on these carefully calibrated engagement loops to sustain their daily user base. Whether tech companies are operating competitive live-service games, managing secure gambling apps, or designing robust digital storefronts, creating a satisfying and motivating reward structure is essential for long-term profitability. If the T95E2 does end up being a clan campaign reward rather than a standard cash-shop addition, it will certainly drive a massive spike in competitive server activity.

The description reads:

The development started in September 1954. Many pieces of equipment and modules were unified with the T96 heavy tank. In total, nine vehicles were produced, five of which were equipped with a 90mm gun and four were planned to be equipped with the T96 tank turret and its 105mm gun. However, since the T96 turrets were not ready on time, it was decided to fit the tank temporarily with the M48A2 tank turret with its M41 rifled gun. These vehicles were built in May-June 1957 and were designated T95E2.
