Yuri Pasholok Q&A

Source: VK Wotleaks community

Hello everyone,

as you might or might not remember, Yuri Pasholok (Wargaming’s chief historian) is working on a long term project, renovating some tanks at the Central Museum of Armored Forces in Moscow. This includes scraping off the rust, sandblasting, re-painting them and such stuff. He’s not however doing it alone, the “crew” consists also of volunteers and one of them, Ivan Karetnikov, helped out with the work, asking some things in the process.

Here’s what he learned.

- FV4202 switch will most likely not come this year. The reason for that is that the developers have to physically go to the Bovington Museum to 3D scan the Action X turret. If the turret doesn’t get scanned, the model will simply not be made.
- VK4502 Ausf.B could become a tier 7-8 premium vehicle with mediocre mobility and its historical gun and armor (SS: 88mm L/71, 80 or 100mm of armor IIRC). This would happen after the tank gets switched for Maus prototype
- Swedish tanks will be in the EU tree
- tier 1 of EU tree will be Fiat 3000B with 47mm armor and tier 2-3 gun, but poor mobility (SS: this is some weird shit, this tank has absolutely nothing to do with other branches of the tree)
- Italian EU branch (SS: note that there will not be a separate Italian tree apparently) hightier tanks will be M47 Patton and Leopard 1 clones
- Stanislaw Lem’s “Czolg Pancernik” could (seriously) become a tier 10 Polish tank. It’s apparently mediocre, but Slava Makarov (one of the main producers and such) did not say “no” to the idea of this tank in the game.

Big Boss Kislyi Talks About Girls und Panzer Mod

Thanks to Legiondude for this one.

Hello everyone,

at recent Tokyo Game Show (what is E3 for America and Gamescom for EU, TGS is for Asia), Big Boss Kislyi had a speech and he mentioned Girls und Panzer – he’s apparently a fan. What is more interesting for the GuP fans however is that on 1st of October, new official WoT game mod is coming out, that will feature characters from Girls und Panzer.

Here’s a video from the speech (with some GuP footage or so).

US to Send Tanks to Latvia… But Which Tanks?

Thanks to Ensign Expendable for this one.

Hello everyone,

according to this article, USA will send some troops and tanks to Latvia. That alone is not very noteworthy or relevant in the context of this blog – or normally wouldn’t be, were it not for the interesting header of the article:

stronk

Hmmmm… where have I seen these vehicles before? If America is sending THESE tanks, Russians sure are in trouble :)

A few answers from Tuccy, Czech community manager or whatever his rank is these days, as collected during NATO days in Ostrava by Svitman (thank you!).

- there will be new extended tutorial (how consumables, equipment work etc.) – allegedly soon, as the developers were waiting for new hangar UI, that comes in 9.3
- WoT Wiki will be promoted more “when it’s finished”
- it is currently not known, whether there will be more “cheap” tier 8 premiums (like Super Pershing is)
- no further info on how how to get the gun barrel marks will be disclosed (SS: as in, battles remaining, exact XP threshold etc.)
- T71 gold ammo price will not be changed
- it’s possible that the company mode will be cancelled altogether
- it’s possible there will be special CW missions
- there will not be more Stronghold missions for now
- T-34-3 will likely not be buffed (SS: oooops, but then Tuccy was never the most reliable of sources)
- T-34-2, 113, SU-101 and Afk Panther “will be buffed if needed based on long term statistics”
- mercenaries might come to CW, if the feature is successful in Stronghold
- WZ-132 advantage compared to RU251: “Better camo”
- the fact that a tank loses armor when the model is remade to HD does not mean the tank will always be buffed to compensate

Why is there no EU/US Supertest?

Hello everyone,

I usually don’t care about anything that goes on in World of Warplanes, unless it concerns World of Tanks as well. In my opinion, that game is dead and it’s only a matter of time before they pull the proverbial plug on it (by that I don’t mean switching the servers off totally, just cutting the development down to zero). Sometimes, however, interesting things appear on their portal, like this one.

As you all probably know, there is no such thing as EU/US supertest. For those who do not know, supertest is a semi-internal Wargaming test server, in which (theoretically) reliable and skilled players participated (with the amount of leaks lately, you can imagine how that really works). There is a completely internal WG test server as well. About year and a half ago, European and American players actually participated in the supertest. It was cancelled after series of leaks (yes, the ones FTR played a major role in). Ever since, the participants of the test were only players from Russian server.

Wargaming RU: Soldiers and their Kits

Source: http://worldoftanks.ru/ru/news/pc-browser/1/veshhi-mezhdu-zhiznyu-i-smertyu/

Hello everyone,

Wargaming RU posted another quite interesting article. This time, it’s not about the tanks per se, more like about the men, who ride in them. And on them. Since April 2014, an exhibition called “Things between life and death” is shown in Belarus (Grodno, Minsk, Gomel, Mogilev and Brest), showing a collection of soldier items from “everyday front life”. The collection was borrowed from the Swedish army museum in Stockholm. This exhibition was first shown in Sweden in 2010 and – in following years – it moved to Norway, Belgium and Poland.

63 separate glass cases show items, that belonged to German, Soviet, American, British and Japanese soldiers and officers in second half of 19th to first half of 20th century. These personal items belonged to real soldiers (sometimes, the entire set belonged to one man) and thus represent real historical evidence. These are for example the things of John Thomson, member of the Royal Army Medical Corps – cutlery, personal hygiene things, medical instruments, medic armband. Thomson started his service in October 1914 as a Lieutenant, in Spring 1916 he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Thomson served as a doctor in the 6th and the 2nd Battalion of Scottish infantry regiment on the western front. He survived the war and was awarded the Military Medal and Victory Medal.

Straight Outta Supertest: Panzer II Ausf.D

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3502734.html

Hello everyone,

new tier 2 “premium” tank appeared on supertest. It’s Panzer II Ausf.D (…because, you know, there is not enough clones already). It’s very likely a reward tank, but what for – that is unknown. It’s even possible we are looking at New Year’s gift tank, it’s a perfect candidate (German, lowtier, crap).

Statistics for 100 percent crew.

Description:

Fast modification of Panzer II, intended for light divisions, based on cavalry units. Panzer II Ausf.D had a completely new hull and suspension, the turret was borrowed from Panzer I Ausf.C. The suspension included 8 doubled roadwheels of large diameter with individual torsion bar suspension without support rollers. The tanks with improvend suspension elements and with new drive sprockets recieved the designation of Ausf.E. According to various sources, 200-250 Ausf.D and E vehicles were built.
