Storm asks about 9.0 Test Issues

Hello everyone,

the first round of 9.0 test (or second, if you count the historical battles test before) is in full swing and Storm is asking for player feedback. He also adds that he is aware of the TAB key bug (when you press the Tab key during the battle, the team screen pops up as usual, but it doesn’t disappear when you let go of the key and you have to press escape to cancel it).

From the discussion:

- test 2 had some track behavior fixes, but not everything got fixed, in test 3 everything will be fixed already
- Storm states that extremely long loading times on all maps are probably caused by strongly fragmented disk

About the loading times, I doubt it has anything to do with a fragmented drive, since I experienced this with the new maps (Windstorm especially) since last patch: 1 minute loading time, where earlier it was like 10 seconds. No idea why, but in 9.0, all the maps load really, really long.

Brace yourselves… Trolling is coming!

Hello everyone,

you better brace yourselves, because trolling is coming to World of Tanks portal and servers (I personally am not very fond of this “holiday”, because last year I posted a serious article and everyone thought I was trolling – I wasn’t :D). Apart from the data-mined new “game mode” (the Karl mortar plus the Battlecity map), Wargaming is going full-blown troll mode on RU portal today.

In a serious-looking post titled “Wargaming announces the “Avenging the Claw” project”, Wargaming “introduces” the “initiative RakoSchit” (“Crayfish shield”), a “charity organization, bent on saving and protecting the river crayfish”. They even made a really nice video:

 

 

Those of you, who read FTR often probably know, that “rak” (crayfish) is a Russian word for “noob”, so… yea :) Overall, very nicely done – EU server should have something like this for “tomatoes” :)

Another trollpost came from EU Polish community:

Introducing “World of Starships” :) Too bad it’s just trolling, something like that (if done correctly!) could actually be pretty cool.

By the way, although the Russian document, posted earlier today (by Yuri Pasholok) is authentic, I am not quite sure the Panzer III/IV with Schmalturm is (he is a known troll after all)…. :)

Flag of Finland on CW map (EU)

I don’t usually report on CW stuff, unless there is some massive screwup, but this is rather funny. Members of several prominent Finnish clans in World of Tanks managed to create the flag of Finland on the CW map.

Their proclamation:

There is this land in the far far north. Finland.

Throughout history, its people have been known for notoriously fierce fighters, high standards in cuisine (according to Mr. Berlusconi), high suicide rates, exceptional school system, race car drivers and weird sense of humor. This is a story of the first and the last of that list.

Shell Flying Wide

Edit: To explain – this issue happens, when you move your turrets and fire. It’s caused by the fact that server reticle at that moment is much larger than the regular one and shells fire to the edges of the server reticle, not the client one. The problem is not the fact that something like that happens if it is intended (bad a mechanism as it is), but the fact that most players probably don’t even know about the serverside reticle and will get confused.

Next CW Campaign: End of April

Hello everyone,

Player Amayii [WHY] recently took part in the WoT Xbox community meeting in Utrecht, where he met Ectar and was kind enough to provide us with an account of what Ectar said.

According to Ectar:

- next campaign might start in the last week of April (since there is a slot in his calendar reserved for him to play with the WG clan)
- American LT’s: “No comment”
- German tier 8 LT: no new info, but “apparently, two tanks are considered” (SS: very interesting, since there are very, VERY few candidates for that)
- WoWs closed beta might start at the beginning of 2015, in 2014, there might be more alphatester spots opened
- there might be a WoWs supertester group from EU server, but Ectar thinks that the chance of that is low, because Minsk is pissed about the previous supertester leaks
