Storm Talks a bit more about 9.1 Changes

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/291512.html Hello everyone, apparently, the 9.1 changes caused quite a shitstorm under Storm’s posts. People started being rude as hell, some were banned, comments were blocked and such. Storm was actually quite annoyed about that, making a post, where he asked people to be civilized. The buffs and nerfs of vehicles will be discussed on Monday. Anyway, here’s more info gleaned from the discussion: – apparently, unlike EU and US, RU server doesn’t have the “restore sold premium tanks” mechanism, it’s still being tested there – low performance of Hidden Village map is connected to the existence of tons of small objects on the map – developers are putting the “HD conveyor” (mass production of HD tank models) in motion currently – developers are working on both CPU and GPU (render) multicore support – Storm admits that patch 9.0 was very complicated and after its release and that only a little was added to the patch of what was promised (in general) – developers are working on general fixes for tank color – “Xbox-like” weather effects did not get introduced to the PC version yet, because “there are completely different issues on PC and we have to deal with them first and then we do weather”

About Clanwars

Hello everyone, as some of you know, I recently joined the R1SE clan after its’ commander’s invitation – to try the Clanwars I heard so much about on my own skin so to say. So, here are a few impressions of mine about this mode after like two weeks in the clan. Obviously, this post is not meant for experienced CW players, who know all of this very well, but for people, who never played CW and are actually considering trying it. To be fair, my experience was tainted by the fact that for two weeks already, I have flu or something and trying to focus your enemy while coughing your lungs out is probably not the best thing ever. Anyway, as for the CW…

8.11 – Impressions

Hello everyone, so, I downloaded the new test server patch, played for a while and I am ready to write down my impressions from the test server. After a slight hiccup with the installation (the delay of the test server), everything went smooth and the first thing I noticed is that I am pleased to say WotViewer still works, so the vehicle model change wasn’t THAT severe (I will make a post on that right after I write this down). Well, after (relatively smooth) installation (no queue, although my WG source reports this test to be relatively popular despite the fact there are no new vehicles to test), I kinda set out to explore the interface and there are some neat changes. There is a whole new selection of aiming reticles:

8.11 tier 10 TD changes

Foch 155 – engine nerfed from 1200 to 1000hp – AP/HEAT alpha nerfed from 850 to 750 – gold ammo pen nerfed from 408 to 395 – various changes in armor Waffenträger auf E-100 – hull traverse nerfed from 30 to 26 – aim spread when turning turret for 128mm gun increased by 212 percent, for 150mm by 75 percent – turret traverse nerfed from 24 to 22

16.1.2014

Hello everyone, most of the answers in this post are related to the 8.11 patchnotes – if you haven’t read them yet, you probably should :) – SerB statest that his position on tank transmission causing fires in WoT has not changed – the main reason WoT actually has draws and not just wins/losses is the “game session prolonging”. – apprently the occasional cases of tanks getting stuck on walls and terrain won’t be fixed anytime soon – the bugs mentioned above will be fixed in second stage of the physics improvement, because a part of these issues will be fixed by the new (HD) tank models – Chinese and Japanese will not take part in national battles – roaming is being tested and polished – the Foch 155 armor was changed to correspond to these schematics, specifically the sides, rear and the roof was changed (the roof is thinner), the range-finder got nerfed too – DPM of Object 268 will also be changed (SS: as in nerfed)

Storm talking about ASAP 8.11 video

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2954380.html Hello everyone, Maiorboltach made a post in the LJ community about the 8.11 ASAP video, where he made a summary of its contents (like I did in the earlier post). Under this post, Storm answered some of the questions. Here is what he said: – the new Object 268 gold ammo pen will be 395 – Storm states that he said earlier the National battles wouldn’t come because earlier the developers didn’t want to implement them, but they changed their mind (“time went by and situation changed”) – Waffenträger E-100 will be nerfed in following parameters: hull traverse, aim spread when turret is rotating, turret rotation speed – Foch 155 DPM will be nerfed (or rather, alpha will be nerfed from 850 to 750 and it will not be compensated by ROF), there will be no other buff to compensate it – camo for TDs will be reworked, Veider confirms that TDs will lose their class camo bonus – TD’s as a whole (the entire class) will be rebalanced, the tier 10 nerf is not the final solution, more like a temporary one – there will be no additional MM rules for the “national battles” mode apart from teams being sorted by nations, everything will work just like in random battles (SS: 6x KV-1S vs 6x VK3601 will be “fun”) – developers actually thought about introducing the chat disabled visualisation (SS: as in, players would be able to see who in battle has disabled chat) but decided not to do it, because there is a danger the disabled chat would be too popularized by that – BigWorld change in 8.11 will mean the mods will stop working

8.11 ASAP

Hello everyone, the 8.11 ASAP video is out. What will it feature?     For those, who don’t feel like watching it all: – new game mode in random battles: national battles (teams composed entirely of tanks of one nation) (what a waste of resources), it will appear in random battles – Windstorm map (screenies were already leaked) – Erlenberg, Highway, Redshire will get a rework (again, Erlenberg and Redshire changes were already somewhat leaked) – no new regular tanks (only a bunch of ones for supertesting) – tier 10 TD rebalance (alpha nerf from 850 to 750, DPM will mostly remain the same, a few will get a DPM nerf, 130mm and 170mm guns won’t be rebalanced, Foch is getting an engine nerf (1200 to 1000hp), Object 268 gold pen will be reduced) – ingame battle chat: you will be able to switch it off or look through its history – you will be able to store camo patterns and use them repeatedly – you will be able to switch off the camera showing the tank that destroyed you – tank on fire message will become more obvious – one-click crew management – 9.0 will come after 8.11

It’s a Fake – Part 2: Wargaming fakes

Hello everyone, today, we are going to have a look at the fake vehicles in World of Tanks. Please note that by a “fake vehicle”, I don’t necesserily mean various unhistorical configurations (there are TONS of those), but I will mention them too briefly. The problem with World of Tanks is that it is the victim of its own success in a way. There can be no doubt that it was World of Tanks, that revived the interest in armor in general audience, not just the usual armchair generals, historians, tank enthusiasts etc. Suddenly, tanks are mainstream and with that comes the fact that given how World of Tanks was advertised as a “historical” and “realistic” game (just look at the flashback trailer from this year, you know, the one with unhistorical FV215b), players take the game also as an “encyclopedia” of sorts and take the vehicles in it as real. In this sense, Wargaming sends a mixed message – some vehicles are practically ultra-historical, down to the precise armor angles and thicknesses (IS-3 is very historical), others are complete fakes, but since WG advertised the game as “realistic”, a lot of people believe these vehicles were real and that is possibly the thing I find I find most annoying about Wargaming: promoting fakes.
