3.1.2015

Sorry, absolutely nothing new today, posting this here for the sake of continuity. Celebrations in Russia and all that.

Oh right, one thing. It’s completely possible to retrain your American crews to Mammoth, Soviet crews to Arctic Fox and French crews to the 8-bit TD… forgot its name. These are the tanks from the upcoming “8-bit” mode and while they come with crews on their own, it’s possible to use your trained crews for them. After the event is over, the 8-bit crews will be automatically retrained for free to: T110E5 (American), Foch 155 (French) and LTTB (Soviet).

Region Changer Mod for 0.9.5

Source: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/410089-095-world-of-tanks-region-changer/

Hello everyone,

here’s a neat little thing by Dimabal100000. It allows you to change servers without having to reinstall the client (or rather install a separate one). Please note that this is NOT roaming (obviously), your account doesn’t get transferred, it only allows you to access other server clusters without installing another WoT client.

ak10kHO

It’s simple to use – you run it, you select the location of your WoT folder and the server you want to play on (you still have to create an account on that respective server if you don’t have one).

The mod (or rather, the application) can be downloaded here.

Should you have any questions, refer them to Dimabal in his thread.

Panther Replica in Belgium

Found this on Yuri Pasholok’s blog. It’s some sort of Panther replica, but hell if I know what was it built around, but it was apparently used for Bastogne re-enactment this winter. Check it out!

Well, no matter what it is built on, it’s pretty impressive.

FPS Russia and Invite Code

Thanks to Kyox for this one.

Hello everyone,

many of you probably know the FPS Russia youtuber, known (apart from pretending he’s Russian) to blow shit up with various weapons. In the past, he cooperated with Wargaming people and made two episodes with tanks IIRC (Stuart and Hellcat). Well, anyway, he keeps promoting World of Tanks on his Facebook page:

Why am I writing this? Because there’s an invite code, that’s active: “FPSRUSSIA”

I have no idea what it contains and I also think it works for NA server only, but still – some people might find it useful.

Aleksandr Ivanov Q&A

Thanks to Maiorboltach for the writeup. Just a short Q&A from Aleksandr Ivanov, executive producer of World of Tanks

- platoon mechanism will be reworked in 2015. Basically, you will be able to invite players into platoons straight in the battle.
- Dragon’s Ridge will not return, in fact other “uncomfortable” maps will be removed. New maps will be added instead to replace them.
- regarding viewrange nerf – so far, it’s just an experiment, too early to tell any details. More details should be known around spring 2015.
- dynamic tank characteristics in hangar (SS: replacing gun changes the hangar stats for example) will most likely not be implemented due to “certain difficulties”

2.1.2015

Russian Christmas time, so the answer pool is pretty limited.

- Q: “Why don’t you add tanks that are not normall available for purchase like Type 59 to the test server?” A: “These tanks are not required to test. Test is not opened for you to have fun, but for serious work – testing.”
- Chinese server is kept separate from other servers, condition that apply there are unique (SS: and as such, some features from there won’t come to EU/US/RU and there’s no point in asking for them)
- confirmed: Naydin medal is bugged (SS: some players that should have gotten it did not), developers are working on a fix now

Armored Vehicles a(t/s) Children Playground in Russia

Thanks to Plazmakeks for this one.

Hello everyone,

this is one of the things that you don’t really see everyday – or, rather, not at all, in Europe anyway. If you follow this blog for a while, you might have read several posts, where I commented on how insanely popular the armored vehicles are in Russia. This popularity is one of the main reasons why World of Tanks became so popular in CIS. I guess it’s a part of the T-34 – war winner thing, combined with the traditional Russian patriotism, but unlike in Europe, in Russia you have armored vehicles as monuments in practically every town.

This includes vehicles on places where you wouldn’t really expect them, such as children playgrounds. In a post at the Englishrussia site, several examples are shown. Here, in Tomsk, a ZSU-23-4 (otherwise known as “Shilka”) is a part of the playground.

End of the War at Jimramovské Pavlovice

Hello everyone,

everyone remembers seeing the end of WW2 in various documents and newsreels, but what about the regular people? What about the regions outside of Berlin where the final hours of Third Reich were drowned in Soviet and German blood? How did the end of the war look in rural regions?

chronicle

To find out, we are going to have a look at the except from a chronicle of the village of Jimramovské Pavlovice, as recorded by the village’s chronicler, Jan Krištof. You see, it was a tradition. Every town and village had a chronicler, who would write the events in the village into these really big, thick chronicles. I know this, because my grandfather was one. Sadly, this tradition died with him nearly two decades ago I think – it was never passed on to my knowledge.

chronicle2

Following is the tranlation of the account how the chronicler wrote it down. Above, you can see the map with the location where the events took place.

Saturday, 5.5.1945

An armed uprising against German invaders has begun in Jimramov. It started in the gendermerie station: two of our policemen disarmed the two German police officers and they are holding them in custody. Immediately after that, a Hungarian unit of cca 200 men was disarmed as well and the weapons and ammunition were distributed amongst the residents of Jimramov. The uprising is organized, its leader is J.Mrštík, a teacher. Letters were sent to all neighboring villages, asking them to send liaisons to Jimramov. In the evening, a letter arrived from Jimramov: to block the roads with fallen trees. We took axes and saws and went to cut trees down to all the sides of the village. No man has slept tonight. It’s raining.

Meanwhile on ASIA Server….

Thanks to the bunch of people who sent me the link :)

So, ASIA server had this competition, where you had to draw an… armoured persona. Basically an armoured vehicle depicted as a person. This is apparently a thing over there. Anyway, the poll was public and the winner was… unexpected.

Yes, that’s a stick figurine winning an art competition. Now I’ve seen it all. Public votes are a wonderful thing.

Great trolling, guys :)

How to Run World of Tanks Blitz on PC (by Jeno)

Hello everyone,

not having a powerful enough mobile device? Ever wondered how to run WoT Blitz on PC? Here’s a guide how to make it run by Jeno. Please note that playing online on a PC is actually illegal on EU and RU servers. So this is just for testing purposes you know ;)

Earlier, it was written that WoT Blitz doesn’t run on Bluestacks. Well, it does now and here’s how to do it in several easy steps. The following description was made by Jeno. Enjoy!

1. Go to this download. This is Bluestacks App Player pre-rooted. Basically, if you don’t know Android, this is the hacked version of the Android 4.4 OS running through bluesetacks. We need to have it rooted so we can use the tool in a next step.

2. Just install bluestacks from the download and open it up. You will get some initial android config, just get through it.
