Battle Assistant Artillery Mod Officially Allowed on US Server

Hello everyone,

just to let you known – specifically those concerned with the legality of the Battle Assistant artillery mod that was posted about earlier today – good news: it is officially allowed on US server (which means there is 99 percent chance that it’s legal on EU server as well, since it’s legal on RU).

You can download it from Plazmakeks’ blog without any strings attached.

Installation is extremely easy – you just download it, unzip it and copy the contents of the compressed file to res_mods folder. In the game, while playing arty, switch to (and from) alternate mode by pressing “G”. I can personally recommend it, I used it today and it is EXTREMELY helpful, especially in the cities.

Let them feel the artillery – the true god of war!

Evilly Q&A

Hello everyone,

WoT producer Anton “Evilly” Pankov made a short interview for one Russian video blog or something. In it:

Individual missions will not arrive with the 9.5 patch. They will be implemented and activated only after the Russian New Year marathon is over (15.1.2015). It’s likely that the datum is valid for EU as well, since the T-34-85M mission is ending on 15.1.2015 also. IM’s be split to seasons, with one season taking cca half a year. They will be separated by difficulty (StuG will be easy to get for everyone, while Object 260 will be obtained only by the most skilled players).

Currently, all the “leaked” numbers (requirements) from IM’s are testing versions only. Evilly also confirms that you will be able to get the woman crews, but there will also be other items as rewards for the missions: consumables, equipment, credits and premium account days.

Regarding the Russian marathon, there will be a different reward than T-34-85M for Russian server, it will be a vehicle, that “never appeared on any other server than the Chinese one”, so my guess would be WZ-111, but who knows.

Anyway, back to Evilly – developers actually developed the mechanism for renting of premium vehicles, they are testing it now. As a first step, this mechanism appears only on Chinese server and after its results, WG will decide whether to introduce it to main regions or not. Oh and about the PvE, it’s possible that the mode will have “raid bosses” รก la White Tiger or Ratte.

And that’s all.

2.12.2014

- the fact that RU251 HEAT shells are flying much faster than AP shells is correct (historical)
- apparently, STA-2 will not have limited MM either (just like Panther 88)
- historical and garage battles and new chat are still being developed
- Storm says he can’t talk about the Havok development, but he mentioned that one of the issues is that with a lot of destruction on the screen, it consumes too much memory (RAM), there are also performance issues
- 9.5 KTTS video was apparently already made
- developers were working on TXAA anti-aliasing, they scrapped it because “it turned out to be shit”
- the amount of 200 people working on WoT includes artists and testers
- dynamic tank characteristics are still in the development queue, Storm admits they were pushed numerous times to the back due to other priorities
- there is generally no such thing as a plan for unification of WoT, WoWp and WoWs interface
- HD models are being made by outsourcers
- chat 2.0 server part was gradually implemented since spring 2014. After that is done, developers will add the client side.

Regarding the Battle Assistant Artillery PoV Mod

Hello everyone,

recently, several players contacted with me and showed me this one particular mod. It’s called Battle Assistant and what it does is (amongst other things) changing the artillery point of view for more… convenient aiming.

Check it out by yourselves. This video was kindly provided by Turarwanaa – from this replay:

Does it give you an advantage? You be the judge yourselves. But the real big question is… is it banned?

Actually, it’s not. In fact, quite the opposite – its creators recently won the entire mod category of the official Wargaming developer contest. Would a banned mod win it? That would be a bit strange, wouldn’t it…

Land Ironclad from Russia

Hello everyone,

another article about (weird) early Russian armor development appeared on the Russian server. It’s called Land Ironclad (as in, land battleship) and yes, it’s just as stupid a project as it looks.

2_pakkul_684x

In a way, this project came to be the same way as the first British tanks, that were considered to be land ships (and were developed by a group called Landships Committee). Meanwhile, thousands of kilometers away, Karl Ivanovich Pakkul from Riga had basically the same idea, calling his project “land ironclad” (or “land battleship”). His project was to have many, many wheels and was to carry a sloped (streamlined) very thick armor. So, how did he imagine it would work?

Winter Mod Revival

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3623553.html

Hello everyone,

remember the Winter Mod? No? Let me refresh your memory then. Winter Mod is according to its authors the largest rework of the entire game. Basically, it turns all the maps and objects into their winter versions. The amount of work put into this mod is truly colossal and this year, it’s coming back for the holiday season with an updated version. Known RU modmaker, Torsus_SD is working on it. First builds are apparently available only to limited audience for now.

Announcing trailer (very pretty, IMHO):

Check this out – it has a beautiful winter hangar. This hangar was made from scratch by Torsus.

The hangar is built on a 2×2 km map with lots of lights. Yes, that’s an important part – this mod does NOT do well on weak computers, it requires significant resources to run, so you need a solid PC to enjoy it unfortunately.

The Insider on Hall of Shame

Hello everyone,

after yesterday’s Hall of Shame, I recieved an e-mail from the Insider. Apparently, he was quite amused, but had something to add. I’ll leave his e-mail here (slightly redacted – removed some personal info – and with typos fixed). Here goes:

Minsk does read the Hall of Shame from time to time and knows well about certain clans with racism mottos, in fact they have handed a couple death threats to police already and the amount of bans has increased since last year. However, they hand the info to the Paris office, what they do with it… who knows, however it’s most likely shit clans like UNICA and EFE will never appear in an official WG article or contest due their behavior. Garbad from US cluster, his absolute douchebagginess towards a certain sector of the playerbase got him a forum ban, directly ordered by the RU office.

The Insider adds that the Russian server has different issues, specifically clans supporting the Russian occupation of Ukraine (founded for political purposes) – in such cases (as well as clans supporting fascist figures in Ukraine), the entire clan gets booted. Regarding what Wargamer or can/cannot do about nazis in the game:

Alternatively, WG could also be pressured to act, however it’s kinda tricky, basically you need a player to actually go to the police and hand the “death threaths”, especially in those countries, where the sole mention of nazism and its offsprings are legally forbidden, but make sure the offender is actually in one of the countries where this is enforced, that’s the tricky part, they put attention to especially nasty folks who stalk in places like Facebook, are ill minded and even generally open about it.

Think it’s a joke? Nope, a guy in the USA is facing jail for handing death threats on Facebook after losing a game of League of Legends and other law enforcement states in the USA are opting for an attitude of similar ways. The police can actually pressure Wargaming into forcing to either give the information about the offender, or force them to ban the player, or face legal charges and fines for “protecting violent behavior”. All it takes, is one person to be willing to spend an evening on the police to do it.

To close this matter, as far as I know, there are around 7 cases with open investigation for such, 2 of them in Germany, 1 in France, the rest in Belgium or the Czech Republic, and the mentioned accounts have a permanent suspension currently.

Referral Program Now on EU

Hello everyone,

so, the referral program is now active on EU server. The guide how exactly to do it can be found here.

So, anyone interested in “earning” in my favour? :) A recruiter can have 50 recruits in total after all! It’s not clear whether you can actually invite your own alt (or a reroll), but I don’t think there’s any real problem with that – WG doesn’t care whether you are a totally new player or not, as long as you actually play actively.

Enjoy!
