Green and more green…

Hello everyone,

as you probably heard (if you haven’t tried directly yourself), the color of Japanese tanks was changed to green. Dark green, specifically. Apart from being less historically important than the brownish one (“artillery brown”), which was the basic primer of all the Japanese vehicle (Daigensui on green: “This is the Southern Army alternative color, willow green, used to replace the olive green for the Northern Army camouflage. Due to its coloring over most of the parched grass primer base, it is considered the base color for IJA tanks in the Pacific”), it’s also WAY too dark. Look, this is how top 3 tanks look now:

T-44-85 changes in 8.10

Hello everyone,

you probably remember the T-44-85, the Soviet tier 7 premium tank, that was supposed to come last patch, but it was postponed, because it was imbalanced?

T-44-85_12-5-25

Well, as you know, it’s not coming in 8.10 either, but Wargaming did rebalance the vehicle somewhat – probably not its final form, but to show where this is going:

- hitpoints were reduced from 1150 to 1100
- traverse nerfed from 56 deg/s to 54 deg/s
- terrain resistance nerfed from 0,8/0,9/1,8 to 0,9/1/2
- gun penetration was improved from 126/167/43 to 147/210/43
- gun damage was improved from 160/160/280 to 200/200/300
- ROF changed from 12,5 RPM to 9,52 RPM, lowering DPM from 2000 to 1908
- the price of regular AP shells increased from 109 to 175 credits
- the price of gold shells increased from 7 to 8 gold
- the price of HE shells increased from 98 to 139
- both the AP and gold shells have marginally higher velocity

Overall, it’s hard to say whether it’s a nerf or not. The vehicle will be less mobile, but it will penetrate more. Time will tell how it will end up, but personally, mobility nerf makes the tank less attractive for me, because earlier I really liked its speed.

Model changes in 0.8.10 test 2

Hello everyone,

there were some additional changes in 0.8.10 T2. Formally, there were no changes of the vehicles from T1 apart from the STB-1 nerf as far as I can see. The only other thing I noticed was the fact Panther I got renamed to Panther.

Ferdinand got a bit bigger – please note that Storm specifically said they didn’t touch its camo factor

Discount for today

Hello everyone,

so, today’s T-127 is on discount. Okay, here’s another thing that sort of bothers me. Not much, but still. When Wargaming first came with the concept of event reward tanks, I was actually quite overjoyed. I mean – there’s a collector value in it in the sense that you were THERE (if I recall correctly, the T-127 was a Christmas tank for 2011). And now, it’s in the shop. With discount. You can see where I am going with it.

I understand that creating a new tank is not easy, it costs Wargaming money and they want the money back. But I think that specifically gift tanks should remain gift tanks, so when you drive them, you were “I was there two years ago” special – but that won’t happen now, not when every Dick and Harry can now buy it from the shop. As usual, the discount is not 50 percent as advertised, but only 36 percent (no slot discount of course).

And of course, we have our daily small fail (what would be a WG EU event without one, right?):

fire_extinguisher

While I do think pouring Coca-Cola on a burning engine could produce interesting results, I am not quite sure they did that in real life.

Edit: Yea, checked and I made a mistake with that T-127, it was apparently quite common tank. However, Tetrarch and T1E6 (both Christmas presents) were also sold in bundles.

Tier 10 discounts to return in January

Hello everyone,

recently, Major_Rampage (US community manager) stated:

We have a big event in December so you will not be seeing “On Track” for the second part of December. You will be see the next “On Track” event in the later part of January.

That is quite useful info I’d say. Given the fact that these events are roughly parallel on other servers too, I think that the Russian server and EU server will have tier 10 discounts in latter half too (likely starting with the 121 medium the Americans had the first half of the month (it’s ending by now).

How much XP will you need for the Japanese branch?

Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/WorldofTanks/comments/1ss77a/japanese_free_experience_costs/

Hello everyone,

American player TheAlaskan calculated, how much XP you need for the XP branch – this article is posted with his permission. The numbers are to simply get to that tier, not elited. For example: Tier 2: 230 exp. That is the experience required to unlock the tier 2 (110 exp) including the modules required in tier 1 (120 exp). It’s like this:

Light Tanks

  • Tier 1: 0 exp
  • Tier 2: 230 exp
  • Tier 3: 1,645 exp
  • Tier 4: 6,035 exp
  • Tier 5: 23,035 exp

Medium Tanks

  • Tier 1: 0 exp
  • Tier 2: 180 exp
  • Tier 3: 1,820 exp
  • Tier 4: 7,090 exp
  • Tier 5: 24,040 exp
  • Tier 6: 66,040 exp
  • Tier 7: 124,190 exp
  • Tier 8: 256,590 exp
  • Tier 9: 483,590 exp
  • Tier 10: 818,590 exp

*Authors note: You save 1005 exp if you research the tier 5 through the light line.

5-year Anniversary for WoT

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/263320.html

Hello everyone,

Storm wrote another post: five years ago, on 12.12.2008, there was a meeting between Slava Makarov, Viktor Kislyi and Petr Bityukov, where the idea “let’s make an online game with tanks” sounded out loud. At that point, Mikhail “Storm” Zhivets was working on another project, that was reworked based on the decision taken during this meeting.

From discussion:
- there are no plans for a Wargaming MMORPG (with elves)
- at one point, the developers did say also “let’s make Navyfield with tanks”
- the Ferdinand fix had to happen, because it was simply wrong, Storm states that old models have a lot of bugs, when models are reworked for high resolution, the developers will make sure they are checked for bugs

List of 8.10 Test 2 changes

Hello everyone,

as you probably know already, 2nd round of 8.10 test will come tomorrow. Since EU portal doesn’t have the changes yet, here they are, taken from US portal:

Changes in the Second Iteration

- Fixed some issues with performance drops when using certain hardware settings, which appeared in the first 8.10 test version
- Fixed some graphical artifacts, which were noted on PC’s with certain hardware configurations: black squares, glowing objects, deformed models of broken trees, shining leaves on trees
- All new maps were removed from the ‘Team Battle’ game mode
- Rebalanced STB-1 tank: dispersion on turret traverse increased by +17%, aiming time increased by 0.2s

12.12.2013

Just a quick piece of info, the new developer Yurko2F answering the developer questions actively is apparently Zlobny’s replacement, not some random guy

- damage system will not be “completely reworked”
- branches will not be “completely reworked” (SS: some player is complaining about branches not being historical, just regular Russian whine)
- models, shell velocities and shooting and aiming mechanism are also fine the way they are (SS: “question” from the same whiner)
- camouflage looking “bland” in 8.10? “Version 8.10 is not yet out” (SS: as in, it will be fixed)
- Q: “If a replay is actually a saved set of commands from the server, why is it impossible to watch it from the POV of any player?” A: “Replay is a set of commands for one concrete player, not for the entire team. For what you mention, currently we are developing the serverside replay mechanism, where you will be able to witness the battle from the POV of any player from both teams”

Storm is asking about MM

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/262791.html

Hello everyone,

Storm is asking about MM on the developer blog:

“Hello everyone, you’ve all seen the MM video probably. What do you think – what is working well in current MM? What is not working well? How is it supposed to work according to your opinion?”

From the discussion:

- Storm states that “common opinion is that stock and elite vehicles should be considered differently”
- there will definitely not be 3-arty hardcap
- apparently there won’t be a rule that stock vehicles will overall end up more as top of the team, because that sucks for the team
- Storm states that current TD situation is 100 percent different from the previous arty (SS: as in – no hardcap is planned)
- Storm states that map-based MM (SS: MM rules different for each map) is unfortunately impossible, because it would lead to even more common map repetition for individual players
- mirror teams (SS: won’t be implemented), they’d kill battle variety
- Storm states that the idea to consider the tier of the gun during MM “is not meaningless”
- there is apparently a bug that when a Chaffee platoons with KV-1S (or other lower tier spread heavies), it will get their MM spread, Storm states he needs to check
- apparently, Storm thinks that the rule for stock vehicles having preferential MM for a while has been cancelled, but he will doublecheck

And what do YOU think of the matchmaker? Please, politely – I will forward your comments to WG RU, I doubt they’ll be interested in tons of “OMG WG U SUX”. Be constructive. Thank you.
