8.10: New Hangars

Source: wot-news.com

Hello everyone,

patch 8.10 will bring a bunch of new hangars again. Here they are, plus a link with their download. To install them, download the archive and unzip it to the World_of_Tanks\res_mods\0.8.9\ folder (for your regular game, or World_of_Tanks\res_mods\0.8.10 Common Test\ for the test client).

Warning, this post is very picture heavy.

Foch 155 to be nerfed in 8.10? Nope.

Source: world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2844484.html

Hello everyone,

news appeared that Foch 155 will allegedly get a nerf in 8.10, according to the “leak” from supertester part of the forum:

2Qr-mCJUdCc

“Task of the week: rebalance of Foch 155 in 8.10
We have to decide what to do with it:
1. nerf alpha to 650
2. nerf frontal armor to 120″

Terrible? Not really. Storm came to explain:

“Listen up whiners, you better check your source. I haven’t seen so much ruckus caused by a photoshopped pic for a long time”

Storm is gathering feedback on 8.10 test FPS drops

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/261659.html

Hello everyone, Storm writes that players are reporting FPS drops in the new tests and asks for description of such events, screenshots and technical data of the computers, replays and dxdiag.

From the discussion:

- apparently, the new sound overhaul will take more time

Not much else, Storm is simply gathering feedback. So, please, let’s help a bit:

Do you have a FPS drop problem in 8.10 test? By that I mean – did your FPS drop a lot with the same settings? If no, please don’t post “I’m fine”, that’s good for you (high end computers are apparently fine), but WG needs feedback from players who DO have problems.

If yes, then state what settings are you running with (ideally with a setting screenshot from the test) and what is your computer configuration, along with anything you can think of is relevant (example: “I disabled everything and it’s still doing FPS drops”). I will then pass the data to Wargaming. Thank you.

- the fact WT RhB 128mm now has a muzzle brake has no effect on its camo factor
- Chi-Ri can mount a rammer even when it has an autoloading gun (no other autoloader tank has that): this is not a mistake, SerB states that rammer is mounted on a tank independently, not tied to a gun
- the depression of STA-1 with gun facing back is only -2 degrees
- HD client will actually feature tracks with volume (like the KV-1 has in 8.10)
- Storm states the possibility to play WoT on weak computers will stay – more or less
- Storm doesn’t have a problem with current Chi-Ri
- the angle of frontal plate of STB-1 is 65 degrees, transferring fluently to 73 degrees
- the number of test rounds for 8.10 cannot be said in advance according to Veider

Stay tuned, more to come today. Much more…

Veider and P.Bityukov answer on live stream

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2839333.html

Hello everyone,

recently, developer Veider and P.Bityukov, a historical consultant. Russian player Maiorboltach prepared a summary of what they said on the recent live stream yesterday. So, you might consider this a summary of a summary :)

- it was the French and English tank designers who influenced the Japanese tank design the most
- the Japanese doctrine was close cooperation of tank units with infantry and cavalry, but the Japanese did not intend for armored units to operate independently. After the clash with USSR it was decided to make the guns more powerful. The Japanese had few tanks, because the plants couldn’t meet the demant due to resource shortages. The sum of all Japanese tank together in the war was less than 10 thousand. There were tank clashes in Burma between the Chinese units (riding American tanks) and Japanese units (who used their own + captured tanks). Japanese tanks also took part in the civil war in China.
- there will be no more huge changes in WoT gameplay (SS: related to the fact that there will simply be no more very specific branches, like the French tanks and such)
- P.Bityukov thinks Japanese tanks will probably not be used in cybersports, as they have low alpha

(at this moment in stream, Veider gets oneshotted by an Object 261 and writes in chat that Object 261 will get nerfed)

Japanese Tank Nomenclature

Hello everyone,

I will now do an exception and repost an old post from US forums (can’t remember who posted it first, I think it was SoukouDragon) about the way Japanese tanks are named, because I believe that’s an actual topic:

There were Two systems: Order System and Classification System, both of which are under the Army Imperial Year System.

Army Imperial Year System

The Imperial Year was used as the standard for designating the type, based on the mystical founding of Japan in 660 BC. The accepted practice was to use the last two numbers of the year as a type number, as in the Type 89 medium tank of 1929, with Type 100 for items accepted in 1940. After 1940 only the last digit was used, so Type 2 equipment was accepted in 1942.

Test 8.10: Vehicle Feedback – Part 1

Hello everyone,

as usual, I will add some vehicle feedback for the new Japanese vehicles. Keep in mind everything here is my personal point of view, I don’t claim it to be the One Truth or anything like that. To give you a profile: I am an average player with preference of tank destroyers and medium tanks. I don’t like heavy tanks and I never played SPG’s (apart from test battles).

Tier 2 MT Chi-Ni

Solid. On this tier the armor doesn’t play much of a role, but generally it is vulnerable to pretty much everything on the field (still, I assume everyone shoots gold ammo on test server, so it’s hard to evaluate). The mobility is average, the vehicle turns well, but is not very fast. Guns are nice, but the top 57mm derp is pretty insane. It aims long and is very inaccurate (the vehicle has to stand for any aimed fire to be possible), but it’s damage is MASSIVE. Despite the fact HE shells do 20 more damage and only have one milimeter less penetration, I had better success with the AP shells actually, for some reason the 57mm HE gets “eaten” a lot and does very little damage. Of course, when it DOES some damage, it hurts like hell. Definitely a somewhat defensive tank.

SS Rating: 6/10

Test 8.10: It’s the little things…

Hello everyone:

I kinda thought it would be useful to actually make the list of small miscellaneous things that changed in 8.10 and that I liked or disliked, so you know what’s waiting out there for you :)

Liked

- smooth zoom: the transition between zoom levels by moving the mouse wheel is now smoother, that’s really nice actually
- debriefing screen now shows not only the names of missions completed, but also the rewards you get

shot_023

- when you select equipment in garage, it shows (a small percent icon) that they are on discount. That’s also quite convenient.
- I like how the discounts are now shown in missions window, but they really should get a separate tab, because at this moment, the mission window is somewhat confusing and with the shitloads of various discounts running at the same time, the player will be spammed by info (not that discounts are a bad thing, but sometimes it’s too much)
- installing the Ventilation makes now all the crewmembers to show that 5 skill extra (105 skill in case you have a 100 percent crew)
- service record window looks actually somewhat more organized now, haven’t checked what exactly they changed, but it looks smoother

Disliked

- the client screwed the graphic settings. For some reason, everything was set on max. When set on the same settings as I had in 8.9, there was roughly a 10-15 FPS drop compared to 8.9, had to set everything even lower. Nasty.
- my first impression is that graphic filters add very little, either have no positive effect at all, or (in worst case, such as the 1940 cinematic filter) make the game look even uglier. Ugh.
- pointless INSANE FPS drops when more tanks are banded together, never had that before, makes the game practically unplayable. Testing did not reveal any corellation with settings. Before, I played on medium settings. Now the game is unplayable even if I disable pretty much everything.
- really bad lag when switching windows in garage, it takes like a second to load, that wasn’t in 8.9 either
- some lag when accessing the previous messages (button in lower right corner of the garage), also new
- apparently the smoke/mist/dust effect was reworked, it also causes MASSIVE FPS drops, I had to disable that altogether. Not sure what WG did, but it was a bad idea
