Batchat 25t RL photos

Warning: Post is VERY picture heavy

Hello everyone,

today, I have something quite interesting for you. Now, we all know Batignolles-Châtillon 25t, AKA Batchat 25t, right? You probably even known this photograph:

But… that photo is 10 years old and there are few new photos of the Batchat 25t prototype, sitting quietly at Saumur. Why? Well… because it’s not on the exhibition. Batchat 25t prototype sits within the space, that is normally not accessible to visitors. You either have to have a special permit, or you have to fulfill certain… other conditions. Wargaming themselves got basically told to sod off (not the first time either, the same story happened with Munster), they didn’t get to photograph or measure the prototype and constructed the vehicle in game based on freely available photos.

But of course, this is not the end of the world. Meet French player DrPikouz. DrPikouz has many things and access is amongst them – so, in this case, he agreed to share with us new photographs of the Batchat 25t prototype – and it’s not a pretty sight. He however intends to write some articles, so you can look forward to more French goodness!

This is how it looks now – a damn shame really to let it rust like that:

- the “twitching” (moving by jerks) of minimap tank icons (they don’t move smoothly) is intended in order to save traffic
- apparently the current latest Tiger HD model is correct, when it comes to size
- apparently, Murovanka in 9.0 is still quite dark, because its lighting wan’t fixed yet
- M103 HD roadwheels are still sort of “rectangular” (they have visible edges, they aren’t completely round) because it is a necessery simplification: there are many smaller roadwheels on M103 and making them smoother would require much more resources
- latest test hangar is still not optimized for best FPS
- the HD Centurion side plates are scratched, because in real life they were easy to scratch
- 9.0 autoaim (aiming lower than in 8.11) is intended and will be implemented
- some models have worse visual quality of tracks in hangar than in combat, this will be fixed

The Tiger that was never crowned: VK 45.02 (P)

The popularity of World of Tanks is greatly helping to spread interest in tank history, however some of the inaccuracies in the game are starting to create a new strain of internet tank myths.

One of those is about the VK 45.02 (P), Porsche’s failed bid for a Tiger successor, represented in WOT by two tanks that are both way above their historical counterpart, especially what they call the “Ausf B”.

Today we will use Special Panzer Variants by Spielberger, Panzer Tracts 20-1, Kingtiger Heavy Tank and Germany’s Tiger tanks – VK 45-02 to Tiger II by Jentz & Doyle.

The roots of a Porsche Tiger improvement starts in early 1942, with the very first proposal of a “Typ 101 Verstaerkt” (strengthened), soon changed into Typ 180 (Electric transmission) and 181 (Hydraulic), designated by Wa Pruef 6 as VK 45.01 (P2), VK 45.02 (P) and finally Tiger P2.
