Super Pershing Giveaway Round 1 – Winners

Hello everyone,

as promised, one Super Pershing will go to one of the 4500 people, who “liked” the FTR FB page before today’s event. So, who’s the lucky winner?

It’s Miroslav Kostic!

Write me a message with your ingame nickname and server on FTR, mate. As for others… I hope everyone will play fair and what happened to Jingles won’t happen here. I would be extremely disappointed. I will later disclose how I chose random people, at this moment the competition continues with round 2 and I don’t want to give people ideas how to rig it.

Anyway, I was thinking, maybe there should be something especially for people, who liked FTR first and were there from the very beginning. Let’s say first 300. I randomly picked one – that person will recieve the SU-85I tier 5 Soviet premium TD.

And the winner is crazytony0 (FB account link replaced by nickname upon winner’s request) I know your nickname in the game I think, but just to be sure, contact me via FB to confirm it. Thank you :)

As for the rest of you fine folks, well… there will be more chances to win something, so keep reading FTR, you never know when something pops up :)

Edit: sent you both a PM with a “password”, check your “others folder” in the incoming messages please.

Super Pershing FTR Giveaway

Hello everyone,

apart from doing the entire FTR thing to the best of my abilities, I’ve been wondering how else to give back to the entire community for your support, so here’s a deal. Today, two people are going to win two Super Pershings, so you don’t have to grind for them in the competition (or you can get gold for them instead). Hell, one already did. Let me explain:

If you want a chance to win a Super Pershing, all you have to do is go to the For the Record Facebook page and “like” it.

Now, here’s a twist: in order to recognize all the people that were with me until now, one Super Pershing will be given to one person, who already “liked” the For the Record page until today. I already picked that person and he or she will be announced at the same point as the other winner. Second Super Pershing will be awarded to someone, who “liked” the FTR FB page after this competition was published (which means if for example 100 prople like it from now on, each has 1 percent chance of winning). I think it’s fair that way.

You have until midnight today to “like” the FTR FB page. After that, I will publish the two FB accounts that won. Those guys/gals/ponies will then have to contact me via FB (just write me a message through the FTR FB page with your nickname and server, ideally straight away or in the morning and I will send you the reward). In case the winner already has a Super Pershing, I will talk to him/her individually to deal with it, but I presume we can settle it with Super Pershing’s gold value instead (but that’s ONLY for people who already have it, gold as prize is otherwise not optional, sorry – a proof of SP ownership will be required).

If the winner doesn’t contact me tomorrow, I will try to contact him/her via his/her FB. If I don’t succeed within 3 days, I will pick someone else.

This event is valid for EU, US, RU and ASIA servers.

PS: Oh yes, one more thing. I have the list of all players that ever appeared in the Hall of Shame. These are specifically excluded from the giveaway. Once the winner is announced and contacts me with his nickname and server, I will crosscheck the winner against the list. If he appears on the list, I will pick someone else.

- Storm states that multicore support will not strongly influence game performance
- Storm states that the supertest patchnotes are not final: “there is a long way to go till the patch goes live”
- regarding the “hidden Sherman nerf” in 9.0, it was intended, but Storm states that the fact it did not appear in patchnotes first was a mistake of the program, that generates the list of tank changes for the patchnotes. They fixed it and Storm hopes it won’t repeat itself.
- a player asked that there are rumors about a mod, that actually makes the game display tank silhouette even beyond the official render range, Storm replies that that would be possible only if the mod actually takes the tank position beyond the render range from the minimap, eg. such mod won’t display tank and turret orientation
- regarding sharp FPS drops with the shadows enabled: “Shadows eat resources and that’s something we can’t do anything about”

Yesterday in Mariupol, Ukraine

Thanks to LoooSeR78V for the videos linked.

Yesterday, 9.5.2014, armed forces of Ukraine (“National Guard”) entered the city of Mariupol to quell the riots and uprisings of separatists. Some videos from the event are actually very chilling – it makes you (speaking of Europeans) now realize that war is not something distant that happened in the past, war can happen even in the age of internet, iPhones and World of Tanks.

Here, National Guard BMP’s are ramming the barricades

Storm Talks a bit more about 9.1 Changes

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/291512.html

Hello everyone,

apparently, the 9.1 changes caused quite a shitstorm under Storm’s posts. People started being rude as hell, some were banned, comments were blocked and such. Storm was actually quite annoyed about that, making a post, where he asked people to be civilized. The buffs and nerfs of vehicles will be discussed on Monday.

Anyway, here’s more info gleaned from the discussion:

- apparently, unlike EU and US, RU server doesn’t have the “restore sold premium tanks” mechanism, it’s still being tested there
- low performance of Hidden Village map is connected to the existence of tons of small objects on the map
- developers are putting the “HD conveyor” (mass production of HD tank models) in motion currently
- developers are working on both CPU and GPU (render) multicore support
- Storm admits that patch 9.0 was very complicated and after its release and that only a little was added to the patch of what was promised (in general)
- developers are working on general fixes for tank color
- “Xbox-like” weather effects did not get introduced to the PC version yet, because “there are completely different issues on PC and we have to deal with them first and then we do weather”

Wargaming Brand Products…

Thanks to Daigensui for the picture.

Meanwhile in South Korea – World of Tanks Ramen! Bon appetit :)

EIfilPc

So, when does Wargaming EU start selling World of Tanks brand biological products… nah, better not give them any ideas, otherwise we’ll end up with WG brand manure…

Have questions about WoT Blitz? Overlord is collecting feedback.

- some exceptions from the 9.1 LT matchmaking: A-20 will be like T-80 (battletier 4-6), SU-26 and T-127 battletiers 3-4
- WoT Blitz betatesters will get a reward tank – Russians a Russian one, Europeans an European one and Americans an American one (all tier 5)
- in North America, WoT Blitz might launch in a few weeks, depending on the softlaunch results
- Mad Catz C.T.R.L. controller for WoT Blitz? “We have done some basic support, but it’s not yet polished.”
- Chieftain on Maus restoration:

“Near as I can tell, the goal is to get the thing to clank along using whatever motor and transmission they can find. The mantlet will certainly have to be secured.”

- Chieftain on multiturret mechanism:

“My guess is that the programmers who would be working on the multi-gun support code can also be working on other things, and they only have so many hours in the day. Compared to whatever else they’re working on, is Multi-Gun really such a priority?”

Wargaming Official Radio Broadcast

Thanks to Pro_Viking for this info.

I will be brief since this concerns mostly Russian players. Wargaming now has official radio broadcast (in Russian), it’s mostly music (pretty various mix, some pretty cool retro stuff) and some chick reading the news from the Russian Wargaming portal.

If it doesn’t work for you, open the link for example in Winamp or other player. It works.
