Jove Video Q&A

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3711210.html

Hello everyone,

recently a video with developer answers was published by the Russian videomaker Jove and here’s the transcript of it, as usually by Maiorboltach.

- there will be no possibility to remove maps you don’t want to play from your map pool
- in upcoming several patches, there will not be a new heavily armored heavy tank branch introduced in the game
- supertesters are players with various winrates, so that the supertest resembles the random battles better
- currently, WG is investigating the issue of map repeating frequence (“I keep getting the same map over and over”) (SS: yes please, fucking Erleberg in 7 of 18 battles….)
- M48 Patton will be buffed (“when it’s done it’s done”)
- currently, Wargaming is working on “Matchmaker 3.0″. In it, every tank will have a “role” and vehicles will be balanced depending on it.
- WG is currently working on a “league” system for team battles (weak teams will be in second league, strong teams in first). It will appear in one of the upcoming patches.
- XP bonus for “tanking” will come soon
- alternative hulls: “when it’s done it’s done”
- KV-5 will not be buffed
- next version of minimap will bring the option to ping the maps so that only your platoon mates see your ping

To everyone who got excited about 9.6 supertest data being leaked to gamemodels3d site – don’t. Some of the stuff is wrong, such as the armor models of the HD tanks, those are screwed. Personally, considering most of the stuff was leaked per partes before, I think waiting for the 9.6 CT is better than drawing conclusions currently.

- Storm, commenting on the HT mission where you have to cap the base being too difficult: “There are some complications, but we’ll think what to do with it. No promises though for now.”
- many things were changed in WOT based on player surveys
- French LT’s won’t be buffed apparently, because “their situation is better than those tanks that are getting buffed”
- Aufklärungspanzer Panther (tier 7 LT) will be removed from the game and replaced by SP.I.C. (SS: oh, I proposed that almost two years ago, well, better late than never)
- the change mentioned above will happen in 2015
- it’s possible WT E-100 will be removed from the game as well, WG is considering it, as there are options now (SS: …and they are awesome. Well, okay, one is.)

Evilly Q&A

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3707636.html

Hello everyone,

what follows is the transcription of answers of Anton “Evilly” Pankov, producer of World of Tanks. Most are rehashed old answers. Here’s the more interesting stuff:

- Bigworld was chosen because when the game was planned, the company was very small and there was no option of getting another engine apart from Bigworld. At first, WG wanted to do an RPG with orks based on Bigworld and server and client sides were already ready, when WG decided to switch from elves to tanks and WG continued to work with it, because it was most accessible at the time.
- WG is currently working on chat overhaul, first will be the channels, followed by the contact list system. Players will be able to divide their contact lists into groups (close friends, platoon guys etc.), so it will become more flexible over time
- WG is working on further conversion of the game client for Mac OS
- new version of Bigworld (in patch 0.9.7) should not reduce FPS (WG needs the new version to implement future features), in fact preliminary tests show the performance should increase due to optimizations in the engine
- WG started working on improved tutorial to guide newbies to learn the game, a new tutorial mode is planned where players will be able to train against bots
- 9.7 will bring new regular tanks (SS: the French)
- WG is working on special events for 1st of April (fun mode) and mid-May (celebration of the end of the war anniversary)
- there will also be a new mode for random battles (in summer presumably)

- Russian support service confirms that HT15 mission is bugged (one of the elements of the equation apparently does not count)
- Storm confirms that the AMX-50B in HD doesn’t have the green weakzones on frontal plate (the armor models that were leaked earlier were incorrect)
- HT11 mission is also bugged – it will not complete even if your tracks are damaged, it will be fixed
- the same bug as above applies for other missions as well, such as TD2
- MT12 description is incorrect, in it you personally have to kill 3 vehicles, not the entire platoon
- new premium tanks will be implemented “in near future”
- awarding the girl tankers and tokens needed for StuG IV (specifically, for SPG mission branch) is bugged, WG is working on it
- if you set an enemy on fire and get killed immediately after, the fire damage does count towards your reward even after you die
- there are some mods (SS: obsolete XVM?) that make your client show incorrect IM parameters (they make you see the conditions from 9.5 test, not the final ones), be sure you have the mods updated or remove them
- platoons in IM’s a bad idea? “Those are the conditions in the missions. It’s your right to complete them – or not. And yes – EVERY player has the possibility to play in a platoon”
- in order for the girl crew special perk to activate, the crew has to consist entirely of women
- IM vehicles do NOT have increased profitability, they are not premium tanks, but reward tanks

“Individual Missions” Stream Q&A

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3705579.html

Hello everyone,

recently, there was a stream with the Individual Missions as a topic with Aleksei “Inaki” Ilyin, Roman “Riot_Guy” Tabolin and one other guy. Here’s what was in it, thanks to Maiorboltach (as usual) for transcript:

- about 35k people is using the official WG Stream mod
- personal missions are named so because you have to complete them personally. There are platoon missions, but those too are personal, because every player has their own personal role even in platoon missions – you are completing your personal mission, just within a platoon
- the tier 4 requirement was added not to confuse newbies with IM’s, because it’s this timeframe when they learn to understand the game
- the IM’s were designed to emphasize all the aspects of gameplay mechanics (“so the old players could remember what the hell a scout is, that you need to scout the enemies, to tell the team their coordinates etc.”)

Info from Russian server – not sure it is valid for EU and NA as well, but it seems to be a system issue. In the portal post, WG admits that individual missions (specifically rewarding the girl crews and the tanks) have bugs. These will be fixed by a separate hotfix patch, currently there’s no ETA on that.

Wargaming as usual.

- according to Storm, there will be a separate test for new motion physics (or perhaps multiple tests), after which it will be decided what to do with it. This test will most likely take place in February, if nothing gets broken, but all major problems were handled already
- the new physics are apparently requiring (or can influence) when it comes to server performance
- WG was testing PvE lately, no comment on results
- there are plans for improved water effects
- regarding the viewrange nerfs of various classes, Storm states: “It’s complicated. We are currently actively studying statistics and heat maps to understand better what needs to be done and how. For now, there are no definitive conclusions.”
- it’s possible the Leopard 1 model will be changed as well in HD to feature more… “junk” on it
- the reason why Maus won’t have the junk hanging on it is that it’s large and historically, all sorts of things can be stored inside. Plus, the HD model is already made.

Storm Mini Q&A

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3701880.html

From the closed supertester section of the RU forums come a couple of answers from Storm.

- new motion physics will definitely not come in 0.9.7 (the reason is transferring to new Bugworld version) (SS: this means that it will come in summer at the earliest)
- even experimental and paper tanks will get more “junk” (shovels and such) hanging on them, this was Storm’s personal decision
- the reason for the decision above is that without it, the tank looks “naked” and it really stands out from the vehicles that do have this sort of junk on them
- the exception to this rule are Maus and E-100, which are noticeable as they are
- a vehicle with stuff hanging on it looks more real

- Storm insists that the Russian player claim that “the developers don’t play their own game” is crap
- some of the top Wargaming people don’t play, but the lower staff do play more
- it won’t that terribly long before all tanks are reworked to HD
- players, rigging the individual missions will be banned
- Storm states that the public opinion had a lot of influence on the individual missions, some missions were removed or reworked as a result of player feedback
- developers started to work on HD IS-3
- it’s actually possible to use War Thunder tank models in World of Tanks. A player asked whether the Wargaming IS-3 will be as good as the Gaijin model, Storm answered that it will be better, it won’t look like it’s coated in guano
- according to developers, some of the individual missions are very difficult, but the reward is fitting (makes up for it)
- individual missions can generally be completed only on tier 4 vehicles and higher
- there are no plans to sell “tokens” for uncompleted individual missions (the way it was for WZ-111)
- it’s not possible to “save” the choice of nationality for the girl crewmember for later when you know, what kind of crew you need
- if you have no slots for girl crewmembers in the garage, it’s okay – you’ll apparently get a temporary free one like with other crews
- there’s no time limit for individual missions

- it’s possible to fulfill ALL the individual missions in a platoon
- there’s a third party site that has the individual mission conditions already available. They are obsolete however, the new ones will come in tomorrow’s minipatch
- various prototype and paper tank models in the game will get more accessories on their hulls (shovels and stuff)
- the leaked armor schematics of AMX-50B and some others are incorrect, for example AMX-50B has no “holes” in mantlet and frontal armor
- it’s possible to get the IM tank without playing arty
- it will not be possible to train the girl crews with both the special BIA perk they have and regular BIA
- some IM’s will be possible to complete only in platoons

See the earlier Q&A post from today for more info.

- regarding yesterday’s Strom comment that the T-34 ingame model is of higher quality than the T-34/85, he adds that specifically the “decoration” (the junk on the tank) is of much higher quality.
- the fact that T-34 and T-34/85 models are different is fine, as even in real life the vehicles differed, even though they were made on the same “basis”
- after most models are reworked in HD, WG plans to bring all the HD models to one standard of quality (polygon count etc.) without using the outsourcers
