Invite codes

Hello everyone,

Polish magazine/portal cdaction.pl came out with invite codes for WoT and WoWp (works on both) – 1200g and 3 days of premium. Players radzix309 and Abrakadabra77 have contacted me, because they don’t need that. Here they are:

PKR29K-84X8W4
PKR29F-29U2X2

If you guys have invite codes you don’t need and want to give them away, feel free to contact me :)

Edit: both codes used, closing discussion

Premium EU tank destroyers – part III

Part 1: http://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/09/23/possible-premium-eu-tank-destroyers-part-i/
Part 2: http://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/09/23/premium-eu-tank-destroyers-part-ii/

Hello everyone,

part 1 and 2 of these series deal with the background of the whole situation, so if you are interested, please read them first. This will be the last part… for now anyway. We’ll have a look at the SD-100.

SD-100

su10001_760

The SD-100 is, simply put, Czechoslovak license-built SU-100. The license rights for it have been acquired in 1951 and the production itself ran from 1953 to 1957. Between 1953 and 1954, the vehicles were produced by ČKD Praha (130 pieces), but after that, the production moved to Slovakia (a partial reason for this – apart from the attemt to fully industrialize Slovakia Soviet-style, was strategic: Slovakia was much further from possible frontlines than Prague) to J.V.Stalin factory in Martin (641 pieces). The production ended in 1957, 771 vehicles were made in total.

- 100 percent crew skill reset for credits won’t be implemented
- companies will not be changed for now, but new 7vs7 format will be introduced

NATO days (Ostrava 2013)

Hello everyone,

I don’t see this on the portal, so here’s a glance with Challenger at how the NATO days in Ostrava (CZ) looked like. Notice the composition of the gaming crows (you’ll see why random battles suck sometimes).

Also, the “music” (can it be called that?) is terrible.

Personal rating proposal

Author: Hillin (Chinese server)

Hello everyone,

today, we have an interesting guest article by Hillin, who actually is from China and plays on their private server. It’s his personal rating proposal and – whatever you might think of it – it’s very thought thru. Took me a while to grasp though, so 3 mins won’t do.

- SS

Hillin:

As we all know, in patch 8.8, an official personal rating system is live in game, and many players disliked it. Edrard had also written a post to discuss about it. In China, most players use a modified XVM algorithm, which in my opinion is not quite a good one. Finally I decided to write an article to demonstrate how would my ideal personal rating system be like. And here it is. Hope it can be published on your FTR site, so it could be shared and discussed by people all around the world. And sorry for any literal or syntax problems, as English is not my mother language.

A Personal Rating System: My Ideal Design

Discussion Principles

1. No personal rating (PR) system could be sufficient to measure the overall skill level of a player.

A PR system is implemented with simple or complex computation of gameplay statistics, many in-game events or actions which reflect the personal ability in strategies and tactics of a player could not be epitomized in these statistics. A PR system can only measure the personal ability of a player in a certain framework with a certain algorithm, and it is only able to ensure its fairness to all players within this framework. Anything other than how to give such a framework and an ideal algorithm, besides whether to use a PR system or not, is not discussed in this topic.

Premium EU tank destroyers – part II

Part 1: http://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/09/23/possible-premium-eu-tank-destroyers-part-i/

In part one, we had a look at the ST-1, which was basically the original Hetzer (rebuilt or newly built with the StuK 40) and the plan to rearm it with the 76,2mm A19 gun. Now, we are going to have a look at what the Czechoslovaks did with the StuG III.

stug76

The history of StuG III in Czechoslovak service is not that long – or successful for the matter. As we learned earlier (for details, check the tank destroyers article), post-war Czechoslovakia used captured German equipment en masse, before the Soviet one became available in large numbers.

- the option to buy an additional crewmember with 4 skills when you have the rest of the crew with 4 skills and need one more for the next vehicle won’t be implemented
- Q: “Where can the players whine about buffs/nerfs of tanks?” A: “Nowhere. It’s possible to actually whine about some specific parameters we try to make as historical as possible, for example ‘the speed is not correct’ or ‘I found the correct armor scheme, that is different from the one in game’. Generally however it’s absolutely pointless to whine about tank balance”

Premium EU tank destroyers – Part I

Hello everyone,

today, we will have a look at several possible vehicles, that could theoretically appear in the upcoming European tech tree as premium (or even regular) tank destroyers. These vehicles come from the book “Od bodáku po tryskáče” by M.Dubánek (probably the best material there is on post-war Czechoslovak projects), specifically, page 208:

“The attempts to install Czechoslovak-developed anti-tank weapons (on various platforms) can be considered the swan song of Czechoslovak industry – this was proposed during the meeting between Škoda and ČKD representatives on 13. and 14.12.1950. The proposal was to mount the 100mm A20 gun into the self-propelled gun platform, based on T-34/85 (SS: SU-100), while the ST-1 and StuG III self propelled guns should carry the 76,2mm A19 anti-tank gun.

The ČZTS national company was to make a study of this until March 1951 and the respective chassis samples were to be moved to Dubnica nad Váhom. However, these preparations were cancelled in connection with the cancellation of the A19 gun development and the changes made to the A20 gun.

Furthermore, proposals were made on a meeting on 8.6.1951 to arm the StuG III and ST-1 with the 85mm vz.44 Soviet gun, but these were also rejected”

As you can see, that gives us actually 5 vehicles to work with :) Although only proposals, I think it could be really interesting to see these vehicles in game, so let’s have a look at them.

Yes, that’s a Jagdpanzer 38t, incorrectly also known as the “Hetzer”. It was manufactured in former Czechoslovakia during the war and after the war the production continued.

Type 4 Chi-To (upcoming tier 6 medium tank)

Author: Soukoudragon

Chi To photo

Development history

Japan expected that a new generation of tanks capable of tank engagements would be needed later in the war. In 1942, three medium tank classes were initiated. A 47mm cannon class, a 57mm cannon class, and a 75mm cannon class. These three classes were called Kou, Otsu, Hei respectively (something like A, B, C). It was soon considered that the 47mm cannon class medium would be obsolete before completion thus it was upgraded to a 57mm cannon class tank. The other 57mm cannon class medium merged with the 75mm cannon class tank. Thus these two, the 57mm cannon class tank and the 75mm cannon class tank, were respectively the Chi-To and the Chi-Ri tanks.
