Winter Mode Interfering with Mods

Hello everyone,

today, the Winter “8-bit” Mode was started on Russian server. According to numerous reports, this mode heavily interferes with many mods, including XVM, causing the game to crash. It’s possible that the mods will be fixed on time for EU release, but if they are not, be aware that they are the cause of your client not working properly.

To talk specifically, the problematic file seems to be Application.swf in res_mods/0.9.5/gui/flash folder. And here are a few screenies from Russian server.

New Server In Austria

Hello everyone,

according to the posts on WG forums, Wargaming started a new server – this time in Austria. This should really help to reduce the load on current EU servers and allow players from Czech Republic, Poland and possibly southern Germany very smooth and lag-less gameplay.

Ahahahahaha, got you didn’t I?

Yea, there’s a new server in Austria (currently in testing mode) – a Russian one (RU9), because fuck you capitalists, that’s why.

No new servers for you, European capitalists!

Of M4 Improved Description

Hello everyone,

a while ago, new American tier 5 medium tank was leaked from supertest – the M4 Improved. I wrote about it here. There is this little thing about it I noticed… well, let’s have a look. This is the M4 Imp model in the game:

BblwDEgSt4o

Notice the mantlet and the turret. Now, the description of this vehicle from the supertest client:

imp

It says: “A project of the M4 tank with sloped hull and turret armor was developed by the Detroit Arsenal company in August 1942. The implementation of this project would bring significant improvement to the Sherman tank protection without increasing its weight and worsening vehicle characteristics. This tank existed only in drawings”.

Naydin Medal Bugged

Hello everyone,

it was confirmed on RU server and now it is officially confirmed by EU support as well. EU player SirDannerbold was supposed to recieve Naydin’s medal in his battle, but he did not. He contacted the support service and this is the answer he recieved from support service employee by the nickname of “Daniel Boone”:

27.12.2014: “Nach meiner Untersuchung hast du die Medaille vverdient. Ich leite dasumgehend weiter damit das gefixt wird, ob du die Medaille noch bekommstknn ich dir nicht sagen aber wir danken dir für deine Meldung.”

Translation: “You should have been awarded with the medal. I forward this issue to be fixed, but I cannot tell whether you will get the medal or not, but thank you for your message.”

Sorry . Aber danke für deine Meldung. ”

Translation: “I received an answer, indeed we have some issues with this medal and we are tracking down the error. Sorry that you have not been awarded with the medal, but we are not able to fix everything instantly. But thank you for your message.”

Well, at least we know for sure now, let’s hope they fix it quickly. Heh, who am I kidding. I asked – and fix ETA is – as you guessed it – patch 9.6.

Renault UE 1937 In Motion

Hello everyone,

it’s a widely known fact that tankettes were generally useless in battle (with a few exceptions, as artillery tractors for examaple), but they sure do look cute. Here’s a video of a restored Renault UE 1937, it’s in Belgium I think. Actually, to drive something like that could be a lot of fun, no?

In case you are wondering, here’s a video of the “insides” of the tankette. Notice how tiny everything actually is!

Region Changer Mod for 0.9.5

Source: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/410089-095-world-of-tanks-region-changer/

Hello everyone,

here’s a neat little thing by Dimabal100000. It allows you to change servers without having to reinstall the client (or rather install a separate one). Please note that this is NOT roaming (obviously), your account doesn’t get transferred, it only allows you to access other server clusters without installing another WoT client.

ak10kHO

It’s simple to use – you run it, you select the location of your WoT folder and the server you want to play on (you still have to create an account on that respective server if you don’t have one).

The mod (or rather, the application) can be downloaded here.

Should you have any questions, refer them to Dimabal in his thread.

Panther Replica in Belgium

Found this on Yuri Pasholok’s blog. It’s some sort of Panther replica, but hell if I know what was it built around, but it was apparently used for Bastogne re-enactment this winter. Check it out!

Well, no matter what it is built on, it’s pretty impressive.

FPS Russia and Invite Code

Thanks to Kyox for this one.

Hello everyone,

many of you probably know the FPS Russia youtuber, known (apart from pretending he’s Russian) to blow shit up with various weapons. In the past, he cooperated with Wargaming people and made two episodes with tanks IIRC (Stuart and Hellcat). Well, anyway, he keeps promoting World of Tanks on his Facebook page:

Why am I writing this? Because there’s an invite code, that’s active: “FPSRUSSIA”

I have no idea what it contains and I also think it works for NA server only, but still – some people might find it useful.

Armored Vehicles a(t/s) Children Playground in Russia

Thanks to Plazmakeks for this one.

Hello everyone,

this is one of the things that you don’t really see everyday – or, rather, not at all, in Europe anyway. If you follow this blog for a while, you might have read several posts, where I commented on how insanely popular the armored vehicles are in Russia. This popularity is one of the main reasons why World of Tanks became so popular in CIS. I guess it’s a part of the T-34 – war winner thing, combined with the traditional Russian patriotism, but unlike in Europe, in Russia you have armored vehicles as monuments in practically every town.

This includes vehicles on places where you wouldn’t really expect them, such as children playgrounds. In a post at the Englishrussia site, several examples are shown. Here, in Tomsk, a ZSU-23-4 (otherwise known as “Shilka”) is a part of the playground.
