Russian Ministry of Defense: WoT like Real Tanks

Source: http://ria.ru/defense_safety/20140914/1024032459.html

Hello everyone,

an interesting piece of news appeared on the ria portal. According to the Chief of the Main Armored Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Russian Federation, Aleksander Shevchenko, the teams in the World of Tanks computer game remind him of real armored units of Russian military. According to him, World of Tanks professional players have all the data needed to control real tanks and to be successful in Russian military service.

He said that during the opening ceremony of the International Cup Championship “Kubinka” event, in which players from South Korea, China and Russia are participating. The championship took place on Russian Tanker’s Day at Kubinka museum. According to Shevchenko, Wargaming is actively cooperating with the Russian Ministry of Defense in promoting the interest of youth in tank history. Shevchenko said: “I am certain that there are future generals of our tank forces amongst the current WoT champions.”

SS: If RU armored forces really resemble WoT teams, world has absolutely nothing to worry about with Russian armored units shooting each other, camping in their bases, calling each other noob etc…

Tas Rohamlöveg Render

Hello everyone,

remember the Tas assault gun? This render video was posted on EU forums in the Hungarian section by Angelus1991ster. I am not sure about the author, perhaps it’s Angelus itself, however in any case, it’s a pretty good job.

In case you are interested in this vehicle’s history, Karika wrote an article not so long ago with all the details. In World of Tanks terms, it’s a potential Hungarian tier 7 or 8 tank destroyer (depending on the soft stats).

14.9.2014

- neither Havok nor massive rebalance of vehicles was promised for 9.3
- the “ground hole” on Ruinberg map was fixed in 9.3
- in 9.3, Chaffee XP compersation will not be awarded as free XP (it will be tied to the Chaffee)
- destroyed transmission and engine will not count towards “assist damage” bonus (as when you destroy the tracks)
- it’s possible that IS-7 will have the pintle-mounted machinegun returned, but it’s not certain
- apparently, account transfers are not that difficult to implement, but permanent transfer options were never really discussed

Evilly Q&A from Stalin Line

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3489411.html

Hello everyone,

Russian game producer Anton “Evilly” Pankov met players during the Tanker’s Day event at the Stalin Line museum in Belarus. Here’s what he said, courtesy of Ridethehorseman, RU LJ user.

- 2015 will be the “Year of Random battles”
- 9.4 will bring the Stalingrad map as well as initial stage of Havok
- new reworked Historical battles will resemble coordinated company mode battles (each team will play one conflict side), it will include PvE elements as well
- first PvE tests will come in 2015
- there will be multicore support in the future
- 9.4 will bring “new version of Bigworld” (SS: here I am not sure by with the meaning)
- T95E6 and Object 907 tanks are reserved for third and fourth CW campaign
- it will be possible to gain a reward tier 10 tank as a mission reward (VK7201 and others) in random battles, but only one (SS: as in, players will have the chance to get the M60 they so wanted :))
- the mission from the question above will be “individual mission” (SS: as in, presumably, different for each player)
- there will be tanks turning on their roofs, but only after testing, developers want to be really careful with them
- Chaffee race will come in 9.3

Understanding Red Players – Of Noobs and Kids

Hello, everyone. Finnish player Kantti submitted this article for publishing and I find it very, very interesting. I think that the personal experience of a father of a WoT player, who is a player himself, is something that should be considered and… well, have a look at it. I am going to keep an eye on the discussion.

Author: Kantti

Hall of Shame tells it all. People really can’t stand players, who do not perform or who they don’t think will perform due low stats. More importantly, they don’t care about even the simplest rules of social interaction, when dealing with these players.

For me, the enlightening moment was when I taught my now 7 years old kid to play on Christmas 2012 (the kid was 5,5 years then). I was ready to see how he wouldn’t perform at all and got all the rage from team players. Luckily, he couldn’t read at that point. But my surprise was quite… um…. big. I admit that the kid is skilled for his age, but still, then 5,5 year old attaining 49% WR in low tier games alone was quite surprising. Seemingly, going under 47% would take some conscious damaging of your teams efforts. It really puts into perspective how bad the worst players are. Just for curious people here to put things in perspective, here are my now 7 year old kid’s statistics. Note the amount of matches, his performance ain’t anymore due to statistical anomalies.

Battles: 3320
WN8: 284
Win rate: 48,55
Avg. exp: 202
Max. exp: 1260
Average kills: 0,40
KDR: 0,46
Hit Ratio: 42%
Battles survived: 13,7%
Ace tankers: 1
1st class: 21

A fun fact I have not seen written anywhere before. Did you know that fire (amongst other effects) reduces the camo of your tank to zero?

- some tier 10 vehicles have unlockable guns, because, as SerB explains: “In real life, these vehicles had ‘stock’ guns. The need to unlock the top guns is compensated by lower unlocking price of the vehicle itself.”
- Q: “Why is KV-85 called KV-85 and not KV-100 or KV-122?” (SS: the number obviously means gun caliber, so 122mm KV-1S would be KV-122. The name is not automatic and it’s more complicated than that, but as a demonstration, it’s okay) A: “Because of all those, KV-85 was the only vehicle that was in a way mass produced and fighting.”
- Q: “Remove the 25 percent RNG for the sake of cybersports!” A (SerB): “Stop whining already.”
- it seems the IS-7 model is now alright in the 3rd iteration of the test
- apparently, the top of the hangar UI is final for 9.3 the way it is (the gold, credits, XP part will not be changed)

World of Warplanes Development in Danger?

Hello everyone,

I am sure all of you are aware of what’s going on in Ukraine. Well, at least in general terms, as the actual situation seems to be very… fluid. In any case, you are probably also aware that as a retribution for Russian aggression, the European Union and the USA imposed various trade restrictions on Russia, which were recently confirmed to be in further effect.

As a part of the entire restriction, according to this Ukrainian article (and other sources), the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (the government) approved series of anti-Russian restrictions, which came into effect on 12.9.2014.

These restrictions include several points, but one point in particular (which was highlighted by Yuri Pasholok on his blog) is very relevant to Wargaming operations:

заборони передачі технологій, прав на об’єкти права інтелектуальної власності резидентам Російської Федерації та особам, які прямо чи опосередковано контролюються резидентами Російської Федерації або діють в їх інтересах.

“The prohibition on the transfer of technologies and rights to intellectual property to residents of Russian Federation and to persons, directly or indirectly controlled by Russian Federation residents or acting on their behalf.”

As you also probably know, the World of Warplanes studio is located in Kiev. So I have to wonder – will this influence the World of Warplanes development? Yuri Pasholok mentions “thousands of outsourcers, 3D-modellers and artists, who are not responsible for who took control of Ukraine”. On the other hand, he probably means other Ukrainian outsourcers, working for Russian companies directly. I asked the resident of Kiev, Edrard and his opinion is that this change should not affect the business with Wargaming, as it technically is a British company and Big Boss Victor Kislyi (company CEO) is Belarussian.

So, let’s hope the politics don’t mess up “the favourite game of us all” :)

Hmmm… I wonder if WoWp wins the Golden Donkey Joystick this year. If it does, well… I don’t have to finish that sentence, do I?
