Wargaming’s Nicholas “Chieftain” Moran Becomes Charity Ambassador

Thanks to Dominatus for this one.

Hello everyone,

Operation Supply Drop is an American military charity, founded by a former soldier Stephen Machuga to support the American troops, active in combat operations by bringing them entertainment in the form of videogames. You can read about it here.

American branch of Wargaming was active in supporting this charity in the past (for example via charity streams and bundles, where players could actually choose to support this particular charity). Recently (13.1.2015), a new “ambassador program” was launched, consisting of various gaming world celebrities supporting the cause. Their task is to – quoting the article:

…fund-raising, program education, veteran-owned business startup mentoring, as well as job and career networking assistance. The Operation Supply Drop Ambassadors will also support the charity’s Thank You Deployment program, which enables wounded veterans to attend video game events to gain a behind-the-scenes insider look and experience first-hand what goes into making and promoting some of their favorite titles.

One of these ambassadors is now Wargaming’s own US server historian Nicholas “Chieftain” Moran, known best for his “Chieftain’s Hatch” article/video series about tanks. So, congratulations, Chieftain and good luck!

Why the fuck is Jessica Chobot there tho… kinda thought she has poor rep in gaming world after that ME3 crap…

IM’s: Mission Exploit

Thanks to Jay for this one.

Hello everyone,

here’s a lovely little exploit for all of you, trying to remain unspotted for the whole battle. It works specifically for the second SPG mission, where you have to remain unspotted the entire battle and do 500 or so damage. Doing the damage is not that hard, getting unspotted throughout the battle is harder. So your team’s folding and you know that soon, enemy tanks will be chasing after you. What can you do?

Drown yourself.

If you drown, you will count as not spotted for the entire battle. You can even drown yourself immediately after you complete the mission criteria just to be safe. And yes, I tested it. My team folded right before:

No Free FV4202 For You!

Hello everyone,

Russian channel WoT Fan brought a video with the upcoming tier 8 premium British MT, FV4202 (that will in the future be replaced by Centurion Action X, but don’t expect this to happen anytime soon).

The most important piece of news is… there will be no free FV4202 for current tier 10 FV4202 owners. Those, who have the FV4202 currently, will simply get it replaced with its successor. This channel is officially supported by Wargaming (it’s a sort of video outlet for WG RU), so yes, this is most likely legit. Well, shit.

The vehicle according to video has following characteristics:

Weight: 44,75 tons
Engine: 510 hp
Power-to-weight: 11,39 hp/t
Hull traverse: 40 deg/s
Maximum speed: 35 km/h

Hitpoints: 1400
Hull armor: 50/50/31
Turret frontal armor: 170mm
Viewrange: 390m

Gun: 20pdr
Penetration: 226/258/102
Damage: 230/230/?
Aimtime: 2,6s
Accuracy: 0,35
Elevation: -10/+20
Turret traverse: 36 deg/s

16.1.2015

Info from Russian server – not sure it is valid for EU and NA as well, but it seems to be a system issue. In the portal post, WG admits that individual missions (specifically rewarding the girl crews and the tanks) have bugs. These will be fixed by a separate hotfix patch, currently there’s no ETA on that.

Wargaming as usual.

- according to Storm, there will be a separate test for new motion physics (or perhaps multiple tests), after which it will be decided what to do with it. This test will most likely take place in February, if nothing gets broken, but all major problems were handled already
- the new physics are apparently requiring (or can influence) when it comes to server performance
- WG was testing PvE lately, no comment on results
- there are plans for improved water effects
- regarding the viewrange nerfs of various classes, Storm states: “It’s complicated. We are currently actively studying statistics and heat maps to understand better what needs to be done and how. For now, there are no definitive conclusions.”
- it’s possible the Leopard 1 model will be changed as well in HD to feature more… “junk” on it
- the reason why Maus won’t have the junk hanging on it is that it’s large and historically, all sorts of things can be stored inside. Plus, the HD model is already made.

Storm Mini Q&A

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3701880.html

From the closed supertester section of the RU forums come a couple of answers from Storm.

- new motion physics will definitely not come in 0.9.7 (the reason is transferring to new Bugworld version) (SS: this means that it will come in summer at the earliest)
- even experimental and paper tanks will get more “junk” (shovels and such) hanging on them, this was Storm’s personal decision
- the reason for the decision above is that without it, the tank looks “naked” and it really stands out from the vehicles that do have this sort of junk on them
- the exception to this rule are Maus and E-100, which are noticeable as they are
- a vehicle with stuff hanging on it looks more real

Individual Missions (EU) Writeup

Hello everyone,

following is the complete list of individual mission objectives, pulled out from the EU client scripts, courtesy of Edrard from wot-news (whereas yesterday’s list was based on translations of Russian portal). Each mission listed has 4 sections: the first two rows are for StuG, second for T28C, third for T55A and fourth for Object 260. The first line is the primary, the second line the secondary objective.

LT

Mission #1 At lower tiers, your light tank can easily neutralize every other type of vehicle.
Advise – Try to avoid head-on confrontations. Instead, try flanking your enemy or attack them from the rear. Observe carefully where the enemy vehicle’s gun is turned.
