Man from Minsk Builds His Own T-60 Light Tank

Source: http://www.yaplakal.com/forum2/st/50/topic993037.html

Thanks to Plazmakeks for this one.

Hello everyone,

it’s not that often I am genuinely impressed, but this is definitely one of those cases. Check this out. A man from Minsk (Belarus), known only by his name “Igor Stalegryz” (the surname means something like “Steelchewer”, so pretty sure it’s a nickname), decided in September 2013 to build his own copy of the T-60 Soviet light tank, since he’s a fan of tanks apparently and admires his ancestors, who were brave enough to drive into battle in these pieces of junk.

He started with welding together the hull:

WoT Analysis: Gun-Laying Drive vs Ventilation and Stabilizer

Hello everyone,

I could have sworn I posted this before, but… well, no matter. Two very interesting videos appeared on US server – both by player 4TankersAndDog. In them, he compares the Gun Laying Drive with Stabilizer and Ventilation and decides, what is more effective. It’s actually pretty interesting, here’s thread one and thread two.

The videos are here:

Panther 88 in the Premium Shop…

Hello everyone,

Panther 88 aka Hitlerpanther (seen that on Russian server, referring to 88 being the symbol for nazi “heil Hitler” greeting) was introduced to the premium shop with following description and price:

p88

My advice about this offer is:

DO NOT BUY IT.

Two reasons for that really. First and the most obvious one is that according to people from Russian server who actually bought it as well as some supertesters, the tank is shit. It’s uncomfortable to drive and completely hopeless without limited MM against tier 10′s. Good luck flanking anyone in a German sniper. It’s definitely not a tank for beginners.

Second reason is perhaps even more important. Wargaming did not introduce this tank to the 9.5 Common Test, most likely fearing that everyone would see it’s a piece of shit, which would hurt the sales. I mean, why this tank anyway, it’s not like WG couldn’t have modelled the other Leopard prototype (with 90mm and yes, there was a version with 90mm gun) and detuned it to tier 8. By denying us the opportunity to test it, they are making us buy it blindly and no, 40 Euro is really, really not worth throwing away just to find out you bought a vehicle that sucks. Spend it somewhere else – it’s Christmas, take your significant other, friends or family out or buy them more presents – make THEM happy, not SerB.

Regarding the WG EU CW tanks and 9.5

Hello everyone,

as some people noticed already, (thanks to Kvetule and Flyingd for this one), those folks, who won a CW tank and chose it using a special web page on WG portal didn’t recieve it in patch 9.5, despite the page claiming it should be credited with the arrival of the 9.5 patch:

reward tank

So far, there’s no comment from Wargaming on that one, but I wouldn’t panic just yet. The deadline for selecting your reward tanks was 22.12.2014 10:00 CET (which was cca 30 minutes ago at this point), so it’s possible it was just delayed and the tanks will be distributed throughout the day. Of course, this is Wargaming EU so we can expect a fail, but for now, let’s give them some leeway. I will update you if it turns into an issue.

Please note the English wording “with patch 9.5″, which does not strictly have to mean “at the point of 9.5 activation” (in Czech and possibly other languages, it was however “with the launch of 9.5″, but that could be fucked up translation, wouldn’t be the first time).

21.12.2014

Again, nothing much today.

- according to the WG developers, the setting options for 9.5 minimap are sufficient (SS: reaction on the criticism that XVM minimap is more customizable)
- retraining the crew from one role to another (radioman to gunner for example) will not come in 9.5
- the minimap in 9.5 is just the first iteration, it will be upgraded in the future (for example with gun traverse angles for TD’s)
- releasing Panther 88 to the shop without having it tested by players is fine according to developers, as “they have ideal supertesters because they are like regular players” (SS: he’s referring to the fact that the supertesters are recruited also from people with regular and sub-par winrate in order to represent the playerbase of the game better)
- Panther 88 “is like regular Panther II with a bit more DPM”
- it’s possible that the individual mission conditions will still change after 9.5 is released
- girl crews are “currently obtainable only via IM’s”
- WG is working on new maps
- regarding the FV4202 switch: “All in good time. Plans are not guarantees. They are ideas, that can run into issues with their implementation.”
- it’s most likely that Severogorsk will be removed forever (and not just for rework)

9.5 Christmas Mode Preview

Hello everyone,

a preview with some pictures of the Christmas mode.

Inside:

- the mode is called “New Year Mode” in Russian
- it’s similiar to the earlier “8-bit” mode with Karl
- there will be three tanks (one is “Mammoth” – boxy T110E5, second is “Raider” – in English it’s called “Arctic Fox” for some reason and it’s based on T-50-2, third is “Berserker” – in English “Polar Bear” and it’s based on Foch 155)
- the tanks are roughly similiar in sizes and guns, but the Mammoth has huge amount of hitpoints (5000)
- Arctic Fox (T-50-2) has few hitpoints, but 20 tons with 1200hp engine and 70 km/h maximum speed with 65 deg/s hull traverse
- platoons will be possible
- amount of players per team is not published yet
- you’ll get a medal for participating
- the gameplay will resemble the Karl mode, with one exception – healing shells: if you shoot your allies with them, you’ll heal their hitpoints
