Regarding Mittengard…

Hello everyone,

patch 9.5 brought us mostly nice things, but as it usually is, there are some screwups as well. Take for example the Mittengard map. Yesterday, I actually got it – yep, remember how Storm said it would be available to new players only? Well, apparently I am one. Oh well, whatever. So, this is how it started…

Wargaming Fuckup of the Day

Thanks to Flametz from US forums for this one. Check this out, looks like this Pershing collision model is missing something…

persh

What could it be, what could it be… oh, that’s right. The entire fucking turret!

Luckily (for us), this is not the real Pershing from the regular US branch. If you look at the name of the model – this is a special “Korean” Pershing. These vehicles with Korean letters in their name are special vehicles for Korean server only. They are used for internet café’s and can be rented for a price. Basically you go to the internet café (big thing in Korea, not so much elsewhere), rent a tank and play. So yea, I am sure the Koreans are thrilled.

And yes, I checked the real Pershing model, it’s fine. I still can’t wrap my head around it, how on earth is this crap happening? A random developer just goes around, deleting parts of models or something for the lulz? Oh well.

22.12.2014

Again, nothing much today, but on 24.12. at 17:00 CET (or so), there will be a stream with Storm, where he will talk about game development, so we got that going for us, which is nice. I will watch it and prepare a summary of course.

- developers do not think that a lot of the feedback regarding recent patches was negative, quite the contrary
- Winterberg was developed as official Ruinberg on Fire replacement
- Individual Missions will start on 15.1.2015 (they are not active in the 9.5 patch client)
- according to developers, it was never promised for Sixth Sense rework to appear in 9.5 (SS: true, it will come later)
- you can enable or disable extended minimap functions in the settings
- according to developers, the Severogorsk map was not removed because of the “veteran players whining”, but for objective reasons. Statistics were analyzed and a decision was taken to remove the map for rework (SS: notice the “for rework” part)
- M56 Scorpion is still in the process of balancing
- Panther 88 will appear in ingame shop likely in patch 9.6

And that’s all really.

Dreams of Armies of Steel

Source: http://worldoftanks.ru/ru/news/pc-browser/12/dreams_of_steel_armada/

Hello everyone,

an interesting article about the background of the armor development by Yuri Bakhurin was published on the Russian portal. Here’s a translation of it (some parts are not literally translated to keep the meaning better). Enjoy.

The tank development is closely tied to the tactics and strategy of the use of armored forces. Unfortunately, few documents describing the use of these forces survived in the archives and each of them is a precious witness of the past. The following documents are the examples from the WW1 and WW2 era both. They show us, how naive (and sometimes even absurd) some of the ideas of that time were, but at the same time, one has to admire the authors for them caring about the fate of their homeland.

Land Squadron Kangro

In July 1917, E.V.Kangro, resident of Petrograd developed a project of a self-propelled artillery battery and presented it to the appropriate committee. His letter did not have any drawings or even sketches of the said battery, so we can only guess how his proposal was to actually look like, but the interesting part about the letter was the tactical use of these vehicles, proposed by the author.

The author stated that his planned SPG’s will be able to move offroad, traversing slopes up to 35 degrees, swimming over bodies of water and overcoming the obstacles in their way. In Kangro’s dreams, a horde of these vehicles was storming the northern front of 1917 along its entire length from Russia all the way to France.

Aimbot or Not?

Aimbot or not, that is the question.

I wrote on the topic of aimbots some time ago (if you do not know what an aimbot is, I suggest reading the original article). My conclusion was that while not as useful as other cheats (laser aim, tree removers and such), an aimbot very difficult to prove.

And here’s an example why. Destronov made a (rather long) video review/analysis of another player’s replay, trying to uncover whether he is using an aimbot. In it, he shows examples of that player making pretty difficult shots, especially in overhead view while changing targets to weakspots, suggesting (but not proving) he’s using illegal aimbot software, pointing also out the inconsistency between this player’s driving skills and shooting skills.

So, what do you think? Is the player in question using an aimbot, or is he simply THAT skilled? You decide…
