18.7.2013

Hello everyone,

as you probably noticed, this week it’s a bit weak with the developer answers. The reason for it is that Storm is on vacation and SerB is on businesstrip, where the internet is bad. Oh and Veider is apparently finishing up the patch.

The patch 8.7 will come next week most likely as announced earlier.

Not much else to add otherwise, apart from several pieces of info gleaned from various EU/RU/US sources, such as

- when Chaffee moves to tier 6 (yes, it will probably happen, just like it did with T-50-2 and VK2801), it might have its top turret removed
- the Nashorn (2nd German line tier 6 vehicle) will apparently have a 105mm L/52 gun (think Jagdpanther, not Dickermax)
- FV4202 armor might be changed in the future after all, recent measuring revealed differences from the ingame model

Otherwise nothing much to add. It’s summer after all.

Bulgarian Armor – part III

Part IIhttp://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/07/16/bulgarian-armor-part-ii/

As it was mentioned in Part II, the arming process effectively ran until the end of 1943. As the re-arm program (also known as “Barbara”) ran, the Bulgarian army – ever wary of the traditional Turkish danger – did run some excercises and improved its structure and training.

8.7 goes live on…

Hello everyone,

I usually do this with Q&A, but since I am not sure whether there will be one today (SerB probably took vacation), I’ll post it straight away:

8.7 will go live on:

RU server – 23.7.
EU server – 24.7.
US server – 25.7.

8.6 Camo and Spotting

Source: RU forum spreadsheet

Hello everyone,

a bunch of Russian players (Nisa, zmiyko, Darth_Google, PurpleDust, AndrasD, BOL4OK, Dell1969, criticalSection, Miporin, Slighter, Devilhunter) made an experiment, where they tested, on what distance will they see that respective vehicle. They tested with a 400 viewrange tank, with 100 percent crew, without any special perks/skills/equipment/consumables. The data are valid for 8.6 and 8.7 test patch.

“Introducing the MT-25…”

Source: http://worldoftanks.com/en/news/17/introducing-the-MT-25/

I don’t usually repost official WG stuff, but US server just published this interesting piece of info by “Yoott, resident US MT-25 expert”:

First Impressions of the MT-25

The first thing a player will notice once they log in will be the sheer size difference in the tank compared to the T-50-2. I would estimate width wise the MT-25 is 20 to 25% wider with much thicker tracks and a much beefier turret and hull design.

Chinese TD line – how it might look?

Source:
Found by Priory_of_Sion (thanks a lot, mate) and to TK3600 who apparently found it first and made a post on US forums about it

Hello everyone,

the Chinese vehicles are notoriously hard to find any info on. Basically, all the scraps and pieces we know about them come either from vehicles, that exist physically in some museum, or from Wargaming itself.

Nothing much today either. Looks like SerB and Storm are on vacation or something.

Veider (another developer) just answers a few questions, such as:

- this area in T110E3 is easily penetrable, it’s the commander’s copula:

Wr4VJcS5a9k

- some player was moaning about AMX 13 105AM arty, that its gun is too weak for its tier, a developer (Marschig) says that by transferring it to tier 5, its MM spread has actually decreased than it was before
- the thickness of the bottom armor of the tank is also historical (in other words: if a HE shell lands under the tank, the splash will encounter the bottom armor, which is practically non-existent.
- Komarin and Swamp are still bound to return at some point

Otherwise, not much. Just one more thing:

Remember Listy? He’s an author from EU forums, who wrote a whole bunch of British-themed historical articles. Actually, if my info is correct, it is him personally, who is responsible for finding the AT-15A premium TD documents. So, if you hate AT-15A, go and say hi to Listy, who just started a new FB page with his historical articles.

Bulgarian Armor – part II

Part Ihttp://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/07/15/bulgarian-armor-part-i/

After the Jambol excercise – which, despite all the hard work – was partially unsuccessful (especially the performance of the Renault tanks was abysmal, but some Š-35 tanks bogged down during the rainy march from Nova Zagora), efforts were made to improve the state of Bulgarian armor. In 1942, the chief of Bulgarian army command operative division, general Chaladzhov, personally went to Germany in order to learn about the German armored unit structure and tactics, in order to implement the things the Germans learned in war into the Bulgarian army.

Technical: new frontpage system

Hello everyone,

Edrard was so kind as to install a new feature. From now on, whole articles will not appear on the front page – only a part of them. You will have to click on the article itself to read the rest, but this will protect the frontpage from being hard to read, if – for example – long articles or pictures are posted.

Please let me know, if it works okay for you (report any issues in comments to of this post). Last time I tried to do this, it screwed the RSS feed, so I hope it works. If it doesn’t, I’ll remove it.
