Hello everyone,

in recent days, I have recieved numerous e-mails regarding this issue and its solution. I normally try to stay way from ESL (the same with Clanwars), but this was pretty blatant, so here it goes.

Some Russian teams (specifically, Dignitas and DeNova) have a nasty habit of rigging ESL matches by intentionally losing some. The entire point of that is the fact that under some circumstances, such a thing will allow weaker teams to pass to finals (those LAN finals that get sponsored with real money), making the opponents easier for Russian teams.

first and foremost, I’d like to thank you all, who took their time to read about the veteran charity drive. Special thanks go to all the people, both Czech and foreign, who donated (yes, even foreigners took care) – thanks to you, the goal we had was already exceeded on first day! I am really glad :)

Very special thanks go to player Tugboat1964 (US server) for his very generous contribution of 500 Euro – I will personally make sure every cent will reach its destination, no worries.

But who will recieve the money?

As I wrote in the last post, it was up to the Československá Obec Legionářská to pick a suitable candidate. Yesterday, Carramba66 (the main organizer) talked to them again and they agreed that the money should go to this man:

Lt.Col.Karel Šerák (ret.)

Born on 20.7.1923 in Boratin (Luck district, Volyň), his pre-war occupation was a farmer. He entered the Czechoslovak units on 20.3.1944 along with his father and brother. After undergoing training, he was assigned to the Czechoslovak Tank Regiment, later expanded to 1st Independent Czechoslovak Tank Brigade in USSR. He served as a tank commander and later he commanded a tank platoon of T-34 tanks in 2nd Tank Batallion, that was led by the Hero of the USSR, Richard Tesařík.

He fought at Dukla Pass, Opava and during the liberation of Ostrava. As a member of the Special Group, he entered Prague on 10.5.1945 along with his T-34 tank No.603. He was demobilized (ranked 2ndLt) on 15.3.1946. After the war, between 1946-1957 he became a small independent farmer, between 1957-1960 he was a member of JZD (a collective farm), where he worked as an animal caretaker, from 1961 (after finishing his formal education) he worked as an animal specialist.

Lt.Col.Karel Šerák was awarded:

- twice with the Czechoslovak War Cross (1939) (a Czechoslovak military award given to those who fought the nazi occupants ever since 1939, sacrificing their lives or showing uncommon valor in combat, risking their lives)
- Czechoslovak foreign army medal (awarded to the members of Czechoslovak army in exile)
- Dukla Pass medal (awarded to those, who fought during the battle)

and other awards.

I do believe this man to be a worthy recipient – don’t you think?

- if you enter a battle with premium account activated and it expires during this battle, the income results (which are calculated when the battle is over) will be without premium account bonus
- anti-fortification (concrete-breaking) shells won’t be introduced as separate shells, that would have an increased effect on buildings
- different sigma limits (SS: accuracy spread) for different stages of aim circle movement won’t be implemented (SS: as in, shooting guns when moving your tank would be lot less accurate than it is now)
- Q: “SerB, what tanks are you itching to buff and nerf?” A: “Everything. Nerfing only, of course.”
- SerB is completely satisfied with the current amount of scouts in battles
- T71 much stronger than AMX 13-75? “How terrible…”
- according to WG data, the amount of ammorack explosion in game has not increased
- the movement of tanks in WoT works so that each map has a grid and tanks move on its coordinates, this grid is very, very thick (like, has many points), the thickness of the grid is variable, but the poits are sometimes less than 1mm (in ingame measures, where a tank is for example 3m tall) apart from each other
- SerB states the tier 10 japanese tank STB-1 will be a Leopard-Patton hybrid
- SerB states that when Havok is introduced, the stuff on your tank (boxes, tools etc.) will fall off not only when hit by AP shells, but also when hit by for example HE splash
- it’s possible the stuff falling off will not only be handled client-side, but serverside as well (SS: this also implies the fact the Havok physics will bring changeable armor models like Storm wrote earlier)

The year 1940 was critical for the Hungarian forces, because they were caught somewhat by surprise by the stunning success of German attack on Poland. The Hungarians were well aware of how effective the armored fist of the Blitzkrieg could be, but even they (or the Germans for that matter) could imagine the extent of the success. Whetever we might think of the Polish army, it was a force to be reckoned with and for a major regional power to fall so quickly was unheard of.

now, this is not something I do every day, but this time, the cause is good, so… here goes.

Introduction

I think that all of us, who are playing World of Tanks and are interested in history do realize that the world of tanks (not the game, the real world) is not just about the steel monsters. It’s also (even mostly) about the men who rode them to battle. Real life veterans. There are World War 2 veterans still alive, men who actually fought on all those tanks we use in WoT today. The greatest war in history is ancient history for us, yet for them it was something they really experienced sometimes costing them their health, sometimes all their friends or family members.

Wargaming America actually donated to veteran organizations in the past, yet we have seen no such thing from Wargaming EU. The “official” argument is that there are too many nations and veteran organizations in Europe to donate. Instead, you might remember that silly anonymous “charity” for “war children” (and I think everyone can imagine how big charities operate, eating up 50 percent of the donations just to “cover their costs”.)

Well, several Czechoslovak community members (including me) decided to do something about it.

The people involved in this are Carramba66 (who came up with this and organized it), me, Akcido, Uanubis, CatfoodCZ (well known Czech streamers and videomakers) and Clearevil (yes, a moderator). Basically, what happened was, Carramba came to us all for support – he contacted the official Czechoslovak veteran organization Československá Obec Legionářská with this and they did agree to back it up. Please note that this charity is NOT supported or organized by Wargaming, it’s an individual venture.

How it works

It’s very simple: there is a transparent account (everyone can see movements on it) opened by Carramba66. Everything, that gets donated to the account, will go straight to that one veteran, handpicked by the ČSOL veteran organization (to who, that is entirely up to them). No “fees”, no money loss, no bullshit. Just a simple transfer. Details will be posted below. I will keep an eye on this and will make sure there are no complications in any part of the process – after all, I am giving my reputation here at stake too and so are the others. The legal aspect is covered by a binding legal contract between the veteran organization and Carramba66 personally. This contract will be made public.

We hope to raise enough money to make this man’s Christmas better, perhaps enough for a week at some health spa and to buy some medical accessories this man needs. For my part: ALL DONATIONS FOR FTR between now (today, 25.11.2013) and 17.12.2013 (23:59) will be transferred to the charity account. A list of donators will also be issued, so everything is transparent.

So, by now you are probably asking:

Why should I donate to a Czech veteran, since I am a foreigner?

Well, the answer is simple. You don’t have to. There are thousands of veterans still alive in your own countries, who, especially in former Eastern Bloc, are living in poor conditions. Your own veterans need you. go, google your own veteran organizations and see how you can help your own people, how you can honor them for sacrificing sometimes everything they had apart from their lives for your country.
