Charity EU not-so-fail

Hello everyone,

just a quick update, because this might actually interest a few folks. Yesterday, Wargaming EU introduced their charity drive (well, sort of). That was like in the morning. The charity mentioned in the article was the War Child, a respectable charity helping (as the name suggests) war children.

In the night, the text was unexpectedly changed however (picture not mine, took it from the english thread):

WG Gift Shop Name Change

The name of the charity was removed and some folks started crying foul play – well, that is until Challenger (EU server’s military expert) stepped in and explained the whole situation: in short, due to some legal matters, the charity name had to be removed (possibly temporarily). So, no worries, the whole deal still stands, the money will still go to the charity.

- if you want to know what inscriptions mean (especially the Chinese), just put your cursor over the inscription and wait, a translation will pop up
- the size of the Japanese crewman collision model will be the same as the size of other crewmen models (SS: this was apparently asked because the Japanese tankers were allegedly smaller than their European counterparts)
- regarding the increased WoT demands on computers with the upcoming implementation of 3.0 shaders: SerB will try to keep the possibility to play WoT on old computers, but he gives no guarantees (SS: this change is allegedly supposed to come in 9.0)
- T18 being transferred to tier 3 status? “I don’t know”

World of Tanks: Rush sold out

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/246787.html

Hello everyone,

some of you might remember that some time ago, a new (real life) collector card game “World of Tanks: Rush” has been introduced. The card game has been published recently (only in Russian). Strangely enough, its publisher reports that the first edition was sold out within 4 days. Second batch (with some rules clarifications) is due to arrive next week.

Strange, isn’t it? I mean… these card games were popular when I was like 15 and that was 15 years ago (Magic the Gathering), didn’t know they still are.

Restored TKS tankette

Thanks to wlw for posting this one:

Thanks to some diplomacy between Poland and Norway, a wreck of the classic Polish TKS tankette was imported from Norway to the Poznan armor museum. The wreck was in terrible condition due to the harsh norther weather it was exposed to.

Within one and a half year, the tankette was disassembled and restored completely. Some parts of it (like the roadwheels) had to be made from scratch, but in the end the result was a success. Unfortunately the originl engine could not be obtained and the tankette now runs with a post-war car engine. The tankette was test driven for the first time now, in September 2013.

Hard to believe anyone used such a cute little thing for war, isn’t it?

Confirmed: official GuP voicepack

It was confirmed yesterday at Tokyo Game Show that Wargaming would be doing an official Girls und Panzer voicepack. This voicepack will be free to download. The first person to do the voiceover will be Mai Futigami (the voice of Miho Nishizumi). Other actresses will make voiceovers later after that. Also, the players have been assured that the cooperation does not end with the voiceover and manga.

Japanese QA – Answers

Answering: Daigensui (“the Mother of Japanese tanks”) :)

Hello everyone,

Yesterday, Daigensui promised to answer some questions and here are the results. Keep in mind that she can’t say everything, especially when it comes to ingame matters – due to agreements with WG.

1. Regarding Japanese tanks – what will be their specifics in World of Tanks? How will they differ from other branches?

Balancing isn’t really my jurisdiction, since I’m mostly working with the historical research area. Still, from what I’ve been hearing, generally we’re looking at vehicles with good terrain passibility, good depression (-10° minimum except for a few exceptions), lower penetration but higher alpha when compared to same caliber guns, and possibly generally good camouflage.

2.How soon (if at all) can we expect the heavy line?

I don’t schedule the releases, so basically I cannot say. I am working on those two lines at the moment in the research capacity.
