- regarding lighting in WoT: in battle, generally the only source of light is the sun
- currently, the HD model of Tiger has roughly 41 thousand polygons
- special intensity setting for the normal mapping shaders in graphic settings won’t be implemented
- Marders and Hetzer won’t most likely be added to the Ardennes and Balaton battle, because they wouldn’t be able to do much in the battle and would only suffer
- apparently the Chaffee remodel in 9.0 was not in patchnotes, because these patchnotes are not final 9.0 patchnotes

Multi-Core Support in 9.0?

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/3126090.html

Hello everyone,

this sounds like something that might interest those of you, who are always waiting for multicore support. The truth is, I am not a programmer and don’t understand the significance of all this stuff, but on paper, it looks interesting.

A Russian LJ user “wot_player_228″ posted something that he found in the test 9.0 client files. He was comparing the engine_config.xml (from the res folder) of 8.11 with the 9.0 version and found there is a difference. There is an additional parameter added, “enableBalaceCPU”, which seems to be responsible for the management of loads between cores.

Blitzkrieg

During my time wasting time on the internet I ran across this gem. Below is a seminar given to MIT by Col. Robert Doughty, former head of the Dept. of History of the US Military Academy, on the “Myth” of Blitzkrieg. I found it rather interesting and felt compelled to share this with you all.

The 1940 German campaign against France and the concept of blitzkrieg have exerted a powerful influence over modern perceptions of warfare. The 1940 campaign is frequently cited in discussions of strategy and operations and in publications about the “Revolution in Military Affairs” (RMA). Proponents of the RMA have argued that blitzkrieg was the product of technological and conceptual advances during the interwar period. They have also claimed that the 1940 campaign demonstrates how such advances can quickly change the conduct of warfare.

Once again, Wargaming EU dropped the ball – 9.0 test patchnotes do not mention that Pearl River and Severogorsk recieved MASSIVE overhauls, I suggest you check both of these maps out.

- there is a bug on test server 9.0, where ISU-152 runs around with its top gun (152mm BL-10, 286 pen) in the Balaton historical battle, this will apparently be fixed
