9.1 Live RU Feedback – Changes

In patch 9.1, Russian players report following issues:

- clan chat and ingame channels are not working
- friends don’t see one another as online, even if they are playing on the same server
- the Balaton historical battle was ALSO removed, this is intentional

Bryansk historical battle setup looks like this:

E3 Stream: So Type 59, Very codes, wow!

From the Wargaming newsletter (thanks to Jalt):

unnamed

Well… the way I see it, you can either watch the stream tonight… or you can watch FTR, because if the codes are in any postable formate (not that “valid for 2 minutes” shit), I will be posting them here. Let’s hope they learned from the WGL code fiasco…

Tank turrets as Bunkers – Wargaming fantasy?

Hello everyone,

recently, it was announced – or rather leaked – that the Stronkhold mode will – with one of its iterations – bring defensive turrets, controlled by bots. These turrets are made of tank turrets on concrete rectangle and look something like this:

Some players started claiming that such a setup is nonsense, because it’s Wargaming fantasy. Well, is it?

Tankfest 2014 Teaser

Thanks to EdFrancis for this one.

As you probably know, guys, Tankfest is one of the biggest tank events in Europe. It will happen on 28th and 29th of June, 2014. And here is a taste of things to come… so, who’s coming? Sadly, I am not.

KV-1 pulled out of River Don

Source: riavrn.ru

Hello everyone,

Two days ago, people working for the Kubinka museum pulled a rare find out of river Don, near the town of Verkhnyj Mamon – a wreck of the WW2 KV tank. Inside of the tank, remnants of the AP shell that killed it were found. Initially, it was not clear whether the tank is actually a KV-1, or a KV-2, only when the hull was pulled out it was found that it was a KV-1. The turret will be pulled out of the water later.

The work on getting the tank out started as early as 29.5., when divers started to attach cables to the tank. Pulling the tank out after that proved to be very complicated due to the terrain. According to the, men who pulled it out, the tank is in good enough shape to be restored fully, although it will probably never actually drive.

Wargaming was also one of the supporting parties (organizers) of the event. They will allegedly post the photos and a video of the entire operation on their site – so far, that has not happened yet.

9.6.2014

Nothing much today either. Russians are having the 9.1 tomorrow, we on Wednesday. Americans – next week IIRC.

The patchnotes don’t bring anything that much new and interesting as far as I could see (pretty much everything was tested already), the only thing that caught my eye was: “reduced the chance of getting the Ruinberg on Fire map”. Storm posted that it was him who added this.

Oh yea and they apparently fixed the bug where the tracers flew through tanks in some cases. Also, the battle loading time fix and the fix that improves performance when switching to sniper mode were implemented as well.

Anyway, the following answers are by Knopka and some developer (?) called Riot_Guy

- it will take at least 50-100 battles to get “kill rings” in 9.1
- the kill marks on the barrel are optional (can be disabled in options)
- Knopka on the new Kharkov map: “The map feels very big and there is a possibility to fight on it comfortably with every class of vehicle.” (she continues how the map offers chances for all types of warfare)

The Joys of Wargaming EU – Premium Shop Edition

Hello everyone,

let me present you another fine mess from the Wargaming EU kitchen. As you know, this weekend, we had a competition here on FTR and we had one winner. It was not the first competition here, as you probably remember, if you are here for a while and this is the first time I encountered this issue. After the winner was announced, I logged on to my main account (Silentstalker) and wanted to send the lucky winner his gift. Logged into the Premium shop and…

Maps, Maps, Maps…

Hello everyone,

some time ago (April-May), the Russian server (of course, only the Russian server, stronk EU would not organize anything heaven forbid… INTERESTING) had a nice competition – making maps. I already wrote about it in April. The prizes for it were grand – pretty nice gaming PC’s for the winners of two categories: historical maps and cybersports maps.

What is interesting is its outcome, that was recently published in the Video show “Poka vse v tanke” (another interesting thing the Russians have and we don’t – news show with a pretty girl moderator!). Aaaaaaanyway…

In the historical maps category, following maps were nominated:

Smolensk (author ARK8TUR) – this one is apparently judged as best by the developers.

Based on the 1942 aerial photo of the city of… Smolensk (how unexpected)

Tanks that did not Make It: K-90 Amphibious Tank

Hello everyone,

if you remember the ancient Soviet tree post, you might also remember that in one of its very first iterations by Pyotr Bityukov, the Soviet light tanks actually had a… well, I won’t say tier 6, because at that point, there were no tiers yet, but a high-level light tank, called the K-90. It got removed in later iterations, but we’ll have a look at it nonetheless.

k-90-1

As you can see from the shape of this vehicle, it’s an amphibious tank. That, of course, is a problem when it comes to today’s World of Tanks – the rule is: no amphibious vehicles (same reason why we don’t see the PT-76 in the game, even if it would fit).
