27.1.2014

Hey guys, check out Listy’s article about one special German pilot!

You can also check The_Chieftain’s “Hatch” on Firefly real life tests…

Part 1
Part 2

- for now it is not planned to change vehicle characteristics between random battles and upcoming historical battles (SS: as in, if you have a Panzer IV in certain setup, its characteristics will be the same in both modes, if you use the same modules)
- the recent interface upgrades were not done earlier, because “other interface works had to be completed before”
- the probability of causing minimum and maximum damage is not linear – there is a lower chance to cause extreme end damage and higher chance to cause average damage.
- regarding one nation being better than other in “national battles”: “A nation as a whole isn’t worse, actual tanks are. These tanks will be fixed, if necessery”
- (SS: in 8.11, the teamkill and teamdamage bans will be much harsher) – regarding the fear of unjust bans for random hits, SerB states: “We will not ban for random hits on allies”
- Storm states regarding the differences between gaps between roadwheels on T-54, Type 59 and WZ-120 in 8.11 that they are different hulls, these gaps don’t have to be the same
- Storm states there will be no compensations for Type 59 changes
- Type 59 was changed “so that the tanks based on T-54 were done correctly”
- the T-54 in the game from 8.11 will be “early hull variant”
- IS-3 mantlet was not changed (SS: some player was complaining it is now too easy to penetrate)

Funnily enough, a player submitted his “M6A2E1 sucks” whine in verses. SerB’s only answer was “Not a Pushkin”

Restoring the Panzer II Ausf.F

Source: http://yuripasholok.livejournal.com/2672642.html

Yuri Pasholok recently posted a really interesting article about the restoration of the Russian museum Panzer II Ausf.F (from Kubinka). I was wondering whether to repost it, but in the end, it would be a damn shame if us westerners didn’t have a look too. It’s not a Hugo Boss uniform, but it will have to do :)

He states that this vehicle is quite rare in museums. This is the way it looks now:

EU servers still lagging

Hello everyone,

as you probably know, the EU servers lagged like hell this weekend (to the point I actually didn’t play during the event, although I really wanted to) and according to some player accounts (bit busy to try myself), they continue to do so.

The good thing about the situation is that unlike the usual “talk to your ISP” attitude, Wargaming EU acknowledged the issue and they are working on it.

iScending (EU staff) has created a thread, where he posted regular updates yesterday. Today nothing so far, but if you want to know as fast as possible about this issue, you can follow it here:

http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/348737-high-latency-slow-forums-stuck-servers-260113/

I will follow it myself and will let you know when there are any news about this issue.

Straight outta Supertest: new Panzer IV (split?)

Source: VK Wotleaks community

Hello everyone,

so, we got some nice leaks here from the VK community… a new upcoming vehicle: Panzer IV Ausf.A – tier 3 medium tank. Since it is a regular tank and there is no real reason to just add a historical variant to the already existing Panzer IV that actually covers it (gun-wise), I think we can safely speculate that Panzer IV is getting split into more tanks. When? Most likely for historical battles and since they told us they are coming “soon” (9.0?), it’s likely to assume this will be a part of the patch…

26.1.2014

- Storm states that there are no confirmed reports on Hidden Village FPS drops
- Storm confirms: the tier 8 Soviet premium medium candidate is the light T-54
- Storm states that the FOV changes in the 8.11 test are how it’s supposed to be – the FOV until now was “not correctly made and we got used to it”
- developers fixed the bug where some 8.10 visual camo patters (SS: notably the Soviet summer ones) look too “washed out” – he is however not sure whether this fix will make it to 8.11
- apparently, SerB believes Chi-Ri was inspired by Germans (SS: ….which is true I think, gotta ask though)
- Chi-Ri based TD in WoT? “No comment on future branch development”
- even after the 8.11 upgrade, the WoT engine will be different from the one in WoWp
- developers are not commenting on what’s going on on Chinese servers (the Chinese can actually buy the VK7201 for 200 USD or so), Chinese business model is independent on Wargaming
- SerB states, that the garage battles for tier 10 tanks only is “one of the variants” – it’s not sure yet how many tanks will be required to be in your garage for such a battle, SerB will have a look at the statistics to see, how many tanks does an average player have in garage

SU-85BM and SU-122P – historical guns on Soviet TD’s

Hello everyone,

Okay, this is something I wanted to post for a while now, after Yuri Pasholok posted two photos on his blog. Those of you, who play Soviet tank destroyers in World of Tanks, might remember the SU-85 and SU-100 elite guns. SU-85 has the 85mm D5S-85BM, while the SU-100 has the D-2-5S? But are they historical?

Yep, they are. Meet SU-85BM and SU-122P.

SU-85BM

As I wrote above, Yuri Pasholok posted this photo on his blog, that sort of “inspired” me to look up some info. There is not that much.

The photo is from January 1944 and it shows nicely this improved SU-85 variant. Based on the data from A.V.Karpenko (I really am not sure how reliable this author is, but it’s enough for start), the BM variant (high power) of the D-5S gun was created by the design bureau of Plant No.9, led by F.F.Petrov. The muzzle velocity of the gun was increased to 900 m/s, leading to 20 percent increase in penetration. The barrel was 1068mm longer than the one of the original D-5S and to compensate for this, the trunnions were pushed back by 80 milimeters. The prototype vehicle (the implementation of this gun into the SU-85) was made by the Uralmash plant in January 1944. It was tested at Gorokhovets proving ground between March and April 1944. It passed the tests, but was never accepted in service because of the appearance of the SU-100 project.

WoT player commits suicide

Source: http://lifenews.ru/news/126013

Uhm, okay, this is some pretty weird stuff. On 13.1.2014, a young Russian Federal Penitentiary Service employee from the city of Kungur by the name of Nikolai Grekhov spent the night from Monday to Tuesday playing World of Tanks and drinking alcohol. His wife told the news that he was obsessed with the game and losing in it made him very upset. After spending a sleepless night and not wanting to go to work, he committed suicide.

So I guess the noobs really CAN drive you crazy…
