For 8.8

- Superpershing: the strip of improved upper hull armor was made two times wider (in accordance with the visual model)
- E-75 bad and medium terrain passability was significantly improved
- the ammo sliders were returned to the way they were before for now, the new variant will be implemented later with other fixes (most likely with the possibility to lock the respective types of shells)
- there will be a surprise concerning the global rating, a special article on that will be prepared
- the British blue stripe camo will return to the way it was before

- when balancing new vehicles, their use in e-sports is not specifically taken into account
- complete re-work of the camo system (especially to include partial cover) is planned, but it will take long time
- Storm: “We continue to give out tanks with garage slots in case of tank switches” and – when asked – specifically on the VK3001H situation, he replied “as always” (SS: other sources also confirmed that yes, you will get free VK3002M, if you have the VK3001H in your garage)

Murazor is well known and popular Russian blogger with very good info access. In his latest video, he confirmed, what you might have read earlier here:

If you have VK3001H in garage the moment 8.8 goes live, you will get your VK3001H tier 5 heavy tank with your original crew and you will get for free a VK3002M tier 6 medium tank with a free garage slot and a 100 percent crew.

today, we have another bunch of photos from one of FTR readers. This time, Deathmongrel from US server decided to share with us some photos from the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation – the largest American privately-held collection of armored vehicles. As he himself states, you might know it from Chieftain’s Hatch, because that’s where he shoots it.

According to Deathmongrel, the owners continuously work on various restoration projects, while keeping the vehicles in three climate-controlled halls. Enjoy!

Strv 103: the S-Tank

Today I’ve decided to write about Swedens most iconic tank the Strv 103 or – as everyone knows it – the S-tank. The reason for this is that the S-tank is the only known hope for a historical tier 10 TD for the European tree and wargaming don’t know what to do with it. Let me explain.

The Strv 103 has a hydraulic suspension, which means in practice that the whole hull moves to aim the gun. This means that Wargaming would have to implement new aiming system for this sort of tank – and Wargaming does not want to do that for one separate tank, but they have stated this:

- The_Chieftain, US developer and tank expert, is pushing for a 3rd US TD line. He states there are a few tier 3 to 6′s possible, but high tiers will be a problem
- when there is tank A and tank B, with tank A having a lot of engine power but bad terrain passability, while tank B has bad engine power but good terrain passability, it’s possible to actually test the difference by looking at acceleration: tank A will have better acceleration at lower speeds
- SerB posted this when asked about a single photo where the Superpershing has the “ears” on the turret.

- apparently 100 percent crews for credit won’t be implemented
- historical info on the Chi-Nu Kai will be published
- for now, there are no tier 8 premium candidates for Japan
- experience spent on unlocking top E50/75 engines will not be compensated:

“That would be illogical. You had a tank in elite configuration and after that you will have a tank in elite configuration. What is there to compensate?”

Japanese flag revisited

Hello everyone,

so, I asked around a bit (or, rather, was reminded) how exactly it is with the Rising Sun Japanese flag (Kyokujitsu-Ki) and Japanese armor. The result was surprising:

Historically, the Japanese used this flag only for the Navy, it was never put on the Japanese tanks themselves. In fact, allegedly the only case of a Japanese flag painting on a tank is a real Japanese flag (white field, red circle) and it was on a Chi-Nu tank and it was one case. The Imperial Japanese Army never used that flag either in general. The Japanese “did use a small brass start near the nose of the front glacis plate, but that’s it”, according to Daigensui, who informed me of all this.

In other words, Wargaming was historically correct not to put this decal on tanks, but of course since there were no such pictures at all on Japanese vehicles, the question as to what decal will the Japanese tanks have in game is allegedly not yet decided and the Japanese flag on Chi-Nu Kai is temporary.

Japanese flag will not be the Rising Sun

Hello everyone,

as you might have noticed from earlier posts/videos, the new Japanese Chi-Nu Kai will most likely (allegedly it’s not 100 percent) have a regular Japanese flag (instead of the Imperial Rising Sun) as you can see here:

The reason for this move is that while we Europeans and Americans have nothing against such symbol, for Korean and Chinese players it is offensive. Allegedly, it is not outright banned, but highly frowned upon.
