8.11 ASAP

Hello everyone,

the 8.11 ASAP video is out. What will it feature?

 

 

For those, who don’t feel like watching it all:

- new game mode in random battles: national battles (teams composed entirely of tanks of one nation) (what a waste of resources), it will appear in random battles
- Windstorm map (screenies were already leaked)
- Erlenberg, Highway, Redshire will get a rework (again, Erlenberg and Redshire changes were already somewhat leaked)
- no new regular tanks (only a bunch of ones for supertesting)
- tier 10 TD rebalance (alpha nerf from 850 to 750, DPM will mostly remain the same, a few will get a DPM nerf, 130mm and 170mm guns won’t be rebalanced, Foch is getting an engine nerf (1200 to 1000hp), Object 268 gold pen will be reduced)
- ingame battle chat: you will be able to switch it off or look through its history
- you will be able to store camo patterns and use them repeatedly
- you will be able to switch off the camera showing the tank that destroyed you
- tank on fire message will become more obvious
- one-click crew management
- 9.0 will come after 8.11

- Q: “Did you take into account that in historical battles of Tigers vs T-34, everyone will want to play the Tigers? I will play only Tigers, because playing T-34 would lower my player statistics (less kills and more deaths).” A (SerB): “Of course we did – such smart players will wait until the end of time :) And by that you won’t improve your statistics, eh? :)” (SS: what SerB probably means is that the “Tiger” queue will be very, very long)
- regarding the question above, when asked, whether this will not reduce the popularity of historical battles: “Some battles, yes. We do not care.”

Storm on Supertest icon leaks

about the leaks posted earlier, Storm reacted in Livejournal blog comments and I have some bad news for those, who liked them:

“They pulled out some sort of old garbage, that was made and was forgotten or was never implemented in branches for various reasons”

I guess we won’t see these vehicles anytime soon. Pity. And what else Storm says?

- the icon above belongs to the Agrimotor, Storm states it was a test vehicle, it’s already 4 years old
- E-10 will not be implemented with variable clearance
- the variable clearance mechanism was not tested on E-25 either

- some vehicles (like the FCM 50t) have visibly lower quality of some parts of the model (in this case, tracks). The reason for that is that currently, the maximum amount of polygons per model is limited and sometimes there’s just not enough
- improved Prokhorovka (SS: see earlier leak post) is work in progress, it will not appear in 8.11, maybe it will in 9.0
- Windstorm map (SS: modelled apparently after Trondheim) will appear in 8.11
- the Windstorm map is the same map Storm referred to as “Norwegian/Swedish map”
- the guns on the Prokhorovka map (if I understand it correctly) will be German
- the new Prokhorovka is not made for HD-client yet

- it’s “completely possible” that historical battles mode will bring battles that took place between 1945-1960 (with T-54, Patton etc.)
- for now, it’s not planned for small and medium stones to be destuctable
- Storm states that if the gold shells get nerfed (for examply their damage), their price will not be reduced
- there are no plans to remove the “tent” that is located inside the base circle
- there are no plans to introduce special crew bonus (like the one given by improved ventilation) to open-topped vehicles, the fact they are open-topped is already taken into account when they are created (SS: as in, in their basic characteristics)

Overlord on special tanks being CW and mission rewards:

I agree that unique tanks can and should be used as a reward for completing some complex missions. This, however, doesn’t mean that CWs shouldn’t have their own unique content. Global map is quite time- and effort-consuming game mode. Rewards should be respective.

Overlord is asking: what do you think of the Missions system in WoT? You can answer him under his post.

- the reason the U-8TS gun (that the tier 10 Soviet meds have) has various characteristics on various tanks is caused by different turrets, different ergonomics and different equipment, it’s completely realistic for one gun to give different performance on different tanks
- apparently implementing the amount of crew XP recieved in post-battle statisics doesn’t have high priority
- apprently both the T110E3 and T110E4 will be nerfed (SS: if I understand it correctly), currently T110E3 has a bit better winrate than T110E4
- it seems that SerB is not exactly agreeing with the implementation of the option to disable the battle chat

QA Stream today

Hello everyone,

since there is practically nothing to translate today, I will skip today’s QA. However, I will appear today at 20:00 CET on Rita’s stream (to get to it, just click the Stream button) on the FTR bar below the logo. If you have questions about tanks or the game, you can ask them in the chat, Rita will read them live on stream and I will try to either answer them to my best knowledge, or I will write them down and will try to find an answer for you.

- both penetration and damage of shells are decided separately and independently, that’s the reason why high-pen shells don’t do more damage to targets with thin armor
- SerB states that it’s not true that when hitting thin armor, a shell retains more of its kinetic energy and thus it does more damage
- SerB states that the bot-detecting system is working
- not everything will be destructable in the new physics system (SS: for example bridges won’t be)
- IS-6 has not become the most numerous tier 8 heavy tank after the New Year event
- LT role on city maps, according to SerB: “recon, scouting and raiding the rear”
- in historical battles, the vehicles fighting Tiger II will be just like in real life: T-34/85, SU-100, IS and ISU-152 (“as many as it is necessery”)
- there will not be “multi-stage” historical battles (SS: as in, players starting on lower tiers and spawning with higher tier vehicles)
- Soviet vehicles without 122mm guns fighting Tiger II’s and Ferdinands in historical battles? “Oskin managed to do it somehow even without a 122mm gun”
- improving sky textures has low priority

Just a little today

- you end up on one map too often? “Conspiracy!” (SS: Conspiracy my ass, ever since Christmas half of my battles are fucking Erlenberg, I hate that map already)
- it’s possible non-European (Brazilian, Argentinian) tanks that don’t fit any branch will appear in the game (Q: “How will you implement them?” A: “Electronically” (SS: as in, “bits and bytes”))
- it’s possible more autoloader branches will come (Q: “Which nations will they be for?” A: “For those that need it”)
- vehicle tier does not influence choice of the maps you are getting (SS: apart from the cases where maps are limited to low tiers only)
