Some of you might be interested in the fact that with the current weekend event, WG EU achieved a fail hattrick. First, there was no discount on E-25 (and now it is), then the new 8.9 TD’s were included even though this was not indended and now, they can’t even make the icons for them right. As a bonus, when you click the new TD names, you will not be redirected to the Wargaming site, but to Wotwiki. Sometimes I really wonder whether this is an intentional trolling or not.

- there are apparently no systematic plans to increase the overall skill of players in WoT

Q: “Why did Zlobny leave Wargaming?”
A (SerB): “To every thing there is a season… a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to kill, and a time to heal, a time to break down, and a time to build up, a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak, a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” (King James Bible, Ecclesiastes 3,5,7)

- machineguns on the top of the turret are not a part of the collision model, they can’t be hit and they do not count towards tank height when it comes to spotting (you can’t be spotted because a machinegun is sticking above the bush)
- SerB doesn’t know of any tanks with turrets without crewmembers, that would fit World of Tanks – there was the idea of Leopard prototype C (SS: Borgward), but it won’t be implemented
- some dive bombers (their modifications) like Ju-87 and Pe-2 will appear in WoWp
- some vehicles have machineguns on the top of the turret in order to be easier to recognize (at first glance)
- whether TD’s will or will not be nerfed is not connected to the fact whether Zlobny is or is not working in WG
- in connection with Zlobny leaving WG, there will be some changes in tank balance (SS: well, that didn’t take long)
- so far, WG has no candidate for a tier 8 premium British tank
- there will be no optional hulls for premium tanks
- SerB will not be rebalancing tanks personally “like in the old days” (he adds he never actually did that even before)

So, according to info from iScendig (EU community organizer – thanks to EmperorSafirius for that, at least I hope it was you who told me that on FB), there will be some sort of new QA thread in English on EU forums. Well, a lot of things suddenly make even more sense, don’t they?

Since this was openly posted on US forums too, I think it’s no longer a secret: Pavel “Zlobny” Myreev, Wargaming’s chief of tank balance left Wargaming recently. I’d like to openly thank him this way for participating in FTR QA and being a very friendly and nice person overall and also for (whatever you might think of the game) doing a good job on balancing the ingame vehicles in the past.

- Havok will introduce the destructable houses option: some buildings will be made destructable. A player asked whether their debris will be material (eg. it will be possible to create your own barricade from debris) or immaterial. SerB states large debris will be material, smaller will be immaterial, as the server power is not sufficient to calculate everything
- SerB also states (to the issue above) that they will have to be very careful with selecting what to make destructable and what not, because developers don’t want such situations as blocking the entrance to the base with debris, making it unreachable
- ingame RhB WT 150mm gun does have a muzzle brake, it’s those slits at the end of the barrel
- cyclone filter does not increase engine fire chance
- there will apparently be no regular “cutter” (torpedo) boats in WoWs (devs are considering their use in “Port” battles)
- it’s possible Petlyakov Pe-2 (or some version thereof) will appear in WoWp
- there is a WG Moscow branch, but it’s not a development studio

Also, check out Overlord’s post on WoT:Blitz, apparently it got rewarded before it was even betatested.

As I wrote on FTR FB earlier, yesterday I missed the QA, because there was nothing to translate.

If you want, Overlord is collecting feedback on World of Warplanes – how do you like it?

- SerB is fine with the performance of old premium/reward tanks, such as the Ram II, Matilda LL, T14, A32 and Panzer S35
- spall liner will have no effect, if a HE shell splash (or blast itself) hits a zone, where there is no armor (like on the open-topped new German TD’s) – SerB states that it reduces damage proportionally to armor and when the armor is 0, the reduction is also 0 – spall liner doesn’t reduce the damage of complete penetrations (SS: BUT the improved saving throw for crew will still work)

- Q: “Why is it possible to actually destroy a tank by shooting it in its commander’s copula?” A: “It’s possible to destroy a tank by a shell penetration, by the penetration of shell fragments or by fragments of its own armor in the area behind armor. Commander’s copula provides direct access for the shells and their fragments to the area behind armor. So the logic is there. It’s like to complain that a house is also accessible via chimney, not just via door. It’s possible – not easy, bot possible”.
- regarding the above question, when asked how come parts that do not provide such access (such as AC48 rangefinder) do cause vehicle damage too: “Well, the tracks don’t repair in real life 6 seconds either, in real life the barrel can bend when crashing into trees… you know what I mean”

- matchmaker does not take into account whether a vehicle is stock or elite (SS: apart from the “first few battles you get better MM” rule)
- according to developers, there has been some mistake earlier in explaining the viewrange, so – this is how it is: a damaged viewport (yellow) still gives you 100 percent viewrange, red viewport gives you 50 percent viewrange
- the difference between a yellow and white (undamaged) viewport is only the number of its hitpoint remaining and – indirectly – its vulnerability, since next hit might knock it out completely

Storm posts on 8.10 fixes

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/258456.html

Hello everyone,

Storm posted another “microdigest” post about what will happen in 8.10 – this time, it’s about bug fixes in 8.10. Storm states he’s slowly putting a list of them together. Amongst other things to appear in 8.10 will be (the list is not complete):

- from 8.10, “soft” objects (fences, benches, stone walls etc.) will be penetrable by AP and APCR shells – penetrating such an object will reduce shell’s penetration capability and the object will get destroyed
- fixed statistics bug appearing on some tanks and with some players after 8.9
- fixed the armor of the “IS-3″ turret on WZ-111 1-4

So, according to the SEA server info, there is a transfer open from SEA to US. Vietnamese region only.

- historically, the T-54 before T-62A is correct, there will apparently be no new tier 9 tank to replace the T-54 as a T-62 predecessor (it will stay as it is now)
- the crew XP per battle value has an error (displays half of what it should be), it’s just an UI error (will be fixed)

Storm: Vbaddict map statistics not correct

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2806890.html

Hello everyone,

recently, the Russian community discovered the vbaddict site and its map statistics. One of the prominent Russian streamers, Murazor, made a video, where he basically criticizes Wargaming for map disbalance and all that. Run-of-the-mill map moaning is not exactly something interesting. What is interesting is the fact that Storm appeared in the comment section to write about the vbaddict site.

According to his posts, the new map Northwest is not imbalanced (when it comes to base winrate, there is 2 percent difference). Regarding the site itself, he writes:

“I don’t know how they collected and processed the data but in the end they got some garbage. There are many disbalances, but other – not those they wrote about.”

Storm later states that he is aware there are imbalanced maps and they will be reworked in order to fix it. He also states he cannot post the exact list of maps scheduled for rework, but from his earlier posts we know Redshire and Highway are considered problematic, as are the Steppes (where a problem arose with the arty nerf).

From other info:

- there is a possibility roaming will NOT be implemented at all, there are a lot of issues, including technical ones
- the roaming we see on EU server is confirmed by Storm to be the test of the concept
- Redshire map is the leader, when it comes to camping
- Redshire will be reworked in the patch coming after 8.10 (SS: prolly 9.0)
- there is a slight disbalance on the Northwest map, it will be fixed
- Storm states that the site itself is fine, just the statistics are off

Apparently there will be an Ultimate Factory (National Geographic channel) show on Wargaming. Overlord posted airing times for each region.

- flower camo is not planned
- apparently, there is a general change planned for the Sixth Sense, camouflage and spotting mechanism, everythign will come at once
- there is a horizontal limit on the distance a shell flies (700m, after which it disappears), but there is no limit apparently on the vertical scale, so a shell can fly 10km up
- HEAT shells will be further detonated by destructable objects, only AP and subcaliber shells will penetrate them
- it’s possible there will be settings presets for the future in WoT client (“for headphones”, “for making video” etc.), these presets apparently won’t be stored server-side
- WoWp release was “normal”
- there will be a big WoWp optimization patch in December
- camo crew perk (SS: or any perk) has no influence on tank MM weight
- it’s possible there will be unique camos given out for finishing “quests” (tough missions)

Practically nothing today. But: Overlord decided to answer questions on World of Tanks: Blitz (WoT for mobile devices), you can ask him on his blog here. What we know from him so far:

- current stage is pre-closed beta, functionality and graphics are not final
- cca 85 tanks, 5 maps
- both iPad and Android versions are functional
- controls take a bit of practice, 20-30 mins, the more agile the vehicle, the more practice required
- will come in 2014
