KV-5 Plastic Kit by Takom

Hello everyone,

thanks to Stephane B. for catching this – so, one fine day, he went to buy some plastic model kits and noticed this one particular one. Check this out, this is the KV-5 kit by a company called Takom. It’s a company based in Hong Kong, so I think we can all see where this is going – stronk historicity :)

Did you know that KV-5 fought at Kursk and in Finland? Well, now you know…

On Test 9.5

Hello everyone,

it seems I was wrong (or misunderstood the context) – tomorrow, it’s not the start of common test (CT) but apparently 9.5 supertest (ST). I think the confusion might have come from the fact I mixed the terms CT (“common test”) and “CT” (in Russian, CT reads as ST, “supertest”). As far as I know, this is the first time it happened to me, mea maxima culpa, I apologize.

The way I GUESS it is now, based on previous experience (9.5 test ETA):

27.11. – 4.12.: Supertest 9.5
4.12. – 11.12.: Public test round 1
11.12.- ??.12.: Public test round 2
22.12. or 23.12.: release date

They might squeeze a third round in there somewhere.

Individual Missions – Not Final

Source: FTA VK community

Hello everyone,

yesterday, a Wargaming-related source stated the following: the individual mission conditions (you know, the 20k damage + blocked damage for Object 260 and others) are not final and it’s possible they might be made easier. All in all, the Minsk office is planning to give out the Object 260 to 10 percent of all players (to compare, during the hard IS-6 grind missions, 4-5 percent of all players got one).

The decision about what to do with them should be taken this week.

IS-2 in Czechoslovak Service

Hello everyone,

in today’s short article, we’re going to talk about the heavy IS-2 tank in Czechoslovak service.

is2_131

I think I don’t need to introduce the IS-2 tank, the best Soviet heavy tank of Second World War. It was the evolution of the original IS, equipped with a powerful 122mm D-25 gun. This tank killed the German Big Cats and was as rugged as it got in the war.

US Server – WG Enforcing Campaign 3 Fair Play

Hello everyone,

those few, who follow the events of Clanwars campaign number 3 know that game rigging happens – the UNICA case being only the latest example on the EU server. To prevent such cases happening on the US server, WG NA decided to do something very interesting. They decided to run a log of investigated CW battles.

Too bad it’s missing names, but then the effect is clear. CW campaign battles reported by other players, flagged by an automated anti-rigging system (there is actually such a thing, as RU server periodically reports the names of banned players, who got caught rigging) or through random checks.

And the EU server? Well, you guessed right… no such topic. After all, we wouldn’t want the privacy of riggers and frauds violated, would we?

I actually think it’s a pretty interesting initiative. Let’s see how it goes.

T54E1 Review by Cro_lux

Hello everyone,

okay, here’s the thing. I was talking to Cro_lux, the creator of the video below and he mentioned he would be interested in doing video reviews and various such stuff on FTR. I was like yea, sure, we can try it out – but ultimately it’s the FTR readers who the video is here for, not me.

So here’s the deal. I am going to post here Cro_lux’s video review of the T54E1 and you will vote, whether you want to see more content from him on FTR or not. I will honor the results of the poll. I personally think the video is okay, but as I said, it’s up to you. The poll is below the video.

Project Cobra – Part 1: Background, Automotive and Personnel Carriers

Author: Vollketten

GaWqMP2

So, one day I was looking for something completely different and stumbled blindly into what looked like a US document on the theoretical design of a vehicle suitable for fighting in the arctic of either Northern Canada or Finland etc. to maximise mobility and firepower. The code name for the project was ‘Cobra’ and the experience used in it came from the immediately post-war Canadian mobility experiments from 1945 to 1951. The project led to a wide variety of vehicle designs – a ‘family’ platform and some interesting scope for inclusion into World of Tanks.

Now, there is a lot of material here and rather than butcher it into an incomprehensible mess, I’ll break it into 3 parts. Part 1 here will be the background and the personnel carriers, Part 2 will be the weapons platforms and other projects and part 3 will cover the armament and WoT issues.
