Straight Outta Supertest: AMX Chasseur de Chars

Source: Vk Wotleaks Community

Upcoming tier 8 French premium medium tank (oddly enough, in real life it was a tank destroyer, but whatever). It is currently not known whether it’s a reward tank, regular premium or whatever.

CJXG-wvcIN4

Description:

Early project for a new tank destroyer was introduced by the company AMX in 1946. Powerful engine and low weight were to ensure good mobility and 90mm gun with a mechanized ammo rack was to ensure good rate of fire. However, large size and quite thin armor and very complex and expensive design caused this vehicle not to be approved. Existed only in drawings.

Stats are for 100 percent crew.

Tier 8 MT
Hitpoints: 1400
Engine: 1200hp
Weight: 34 tons
Power-to-weight: 35,29 hp/t
Maximum speed: 57/13 km/h
Hull traverse: 34 deg/s
Terrain resistance: 0,767/0,863/1,726

Weekly FTR Technical Post and Contributor Review

Hello everyone,

so, today’s going to be a bit longer technical post, because there are some things I want to write about For the Record.

For one… the contributors. At this moment, I am not really sure how to thank you all, but I would like to do more, especially for all those people, who support For the Record using Patreon – and don’t think I don’t see you, I review the names list practically every week and I do know the largest contributors (Tugboat1964, Kkessu, alex78i, KvetoslavWot and many others) by nicknames.

The thing is… what can I actually do for you?

- platoon and company? Well, apart from me not being a good player in platoons (to put it mildly, I hate them), I consider that a waste of time I could be instead putting into FTR. But sure, I guess if anyone of you is interested.
- keep some news exclusive to subscribers? No. I hate that idea, I think everyone should get everything and that’s it.
- some competitions and whatnot? Well, there was recently the Panther competition, but I consider this a bit pointless as well, after all last time I did that (with my own money no less), several people got offended that I am using the money they donated to finance the prizes for other people. Not exactly a good thing.

Any other ideas? Let me know in comments, because this is something that bothers me. Which brings me to the second point: Panther competition. The winners should be recieving their DVD’s this week (at least the European ones) – if not, let me know, please. Sorry for the delay, there was just a lot on my plate, it’s kinda my fault, I apologize.

As for the rest, well, some of you ask me about my health state, it’s better thanks (ATM I am suffering only from the worst disease of all, man-flu – how terrible). It’s just that I did a lot of thinking lately about FTR again. I mean… I’ve been doing this for ages and I am tired, even though I slowed down a bit (you might notice that the historical articles were cut down a bit, the translations are still the same however, plus the leaks of course) – the notable example of this was the Hall of Shame and the development of anti-asshole mod, connected with it (it’s ready and deployed on Russian server as we speak, the EU version of it will be tied to next Hall of Shame, possibly next week).

On the other hand, it would by a damn shame to throw it all away. About a month ago, I practically ragequitted (if any Rita viewers watch this, you might remember my rant from the stream, I was pretty pissed at Wargaming for reasons that in the meanwhile seem to have remedied themselves, you’ll see), but ever since, I found a way to… let’s say re-purpose For the Record a bit. For now, everything’s as usual, with one small addition.

You know how I wanted to incorporate Armored Warfare news into FTR? Yea well… I can’t do that. The wot-news agreement with Wargaming prevents me. And so, there will be actually a SECOND FTR, this time with AW news. They are far in between anyway for now (as the game is not in beta yet) and reviving the old FTR (remember the blogspot one?) is simple enough. How connected will the two be – I don’t know yet, I’ll sit down and work on it this weekend I think. That’s the plan anyway, we’ll see how it goes.

In any case, sorry for the long post – now for the most important matter: once again it’s the time to thank the contributors, it’s you who keep FTR running after all! This time, following people donated via Paypal:

Mrwanwan (Lithuania)
Glaston (Canada)
Robert G. (Michigan, USA)
Mark P. (United Kingdom)
Matthew H. (Australia)

Thank you, guys. I really appreciate it.

Now, for the Patreon cycle:

Out of the 577,29 USD pledged at the point of the cycle activation:

- 527,29 USD came in successfully (the rest didn’t go through for some reason on the contributor side, insufficient funds on account etc.)
- out of 527,29 USD, after the Patreon and CC fees and all that, 449,89 USD were left for FTR – much appreciated! The list of contributors can be viewed here. Once again, huge thanks for the support to all of you :)

Tank Inspector PRO, Sneak Preview (Part 2)

Author: Hillin (Tank Inspector developer)

Part 1: http://ftr.wot-news.com/2014/10/20/tank-inspector-pro-sneak-preview-part-1/

Hello again everyone,

Here comes the second part of the Tank Inspector PRO Sneak Preview series. This time, we will take a look at the model viewer.

Model inspection is an important and popular feature of Tank Inspector. Thanks to its advanced deferred rendering engine, Tank Inspector present tank models in a high quality, comparable to those being rendered in the game. In Tank Inspector PRO, we improved the rendering engine to bring an even higher graphics quality. Furthermore, just as we promised and exhibited in recent Tank Inspector releases, we are introducing a really useful Capture function.

Impressive Footage from Syria (Tanks Battle Terrorists)

Hello everyone,

when you browse various internet pages and youtube channels looking for footage from fighting in Syria, you will find a lot of very interesting and educational videos, often in their raw form, but also with various commentaries. Possibly my favourite channel is called “Tanks in Space“, posting footage of the fighting from Syrian army tanks, equipped with GoPro cameras with Russian commentary (and subtitles). These tanks are fighting the terrorists in the ruins of Syrian cities – not a good place to be for a tank!

In the following video taken near Jobar, the army was trying to oust the terrorists from their entrenched positions. This dramatic video contains several interesting moments. For one, the tank with the camera gets hit several times (noone of the tankers got hurt) – the reactive armor destroys one warhead, but then the tank is hit from the side by another RPG and is disabled, as its oil piping is cut, immobilizing the armored vehicle. Another tank rushes in protecting it, shelling the terrorists with fire and helping an ARV to hook the disabled tank and tow it away. At the end of the video, you can clearly see the damage done to the vehicle (the signature small “holes” the HEAT projectile cause in the turret).

Say what you want, but the T-72 is a durable beast. Thanks to Looser (I think it was him) who first posted the video.

SU-76I On EU Server

Hello everyone,

I am sure you’ve all seen the portal news at this point, but just to make sure you don’t miss it: on EU server, the SU-76I will be sold from 6.11.2014. No news on the same matter for US and ASIA servers, but I think it’s safe to assume that they won’t stay behind.

So, who thinks the SU-76I will come in some ridiculous expensive bundle? I am thinking something like that:

Bundle 1: “Milking the Cows” – bazillion gold + SU-76I (FOR FREE!!!ONEELEVEN), only 40 EUR!
Bundle 2: “Shearing the Sheep” – bazillion gold + Super Pershing + SU-76I (FOR FREE!!!ONEELEVEN), only 60 EUR!
Bundle 3: “Harpooning the Whale” – bazillion gold + premium account + Super Pershing + TOG + SU-76I (FOR FREE!!!ONELEVENZOMG), only 80 EUR!

Well, let’s see if Wargaming surprises us.

Patently Absurd – Part I: France

So, I like the odd, the quirky and the unusual. Delving into the patent archives, I have come across many weird and wonderful creations and ideas and occasionally, a few stand out. In this occasional series, I’ll post up some of the tanks and military vehicles you probably never heard of and in many cases, they thankfully never got built. Part 1 here will be about France, but don’t worry – this is not all France has to offer in this regard. So, if you like these, tell me in the comments what nation you want next and I’ll see what I can find.

Char B1 bis In Motion

Hello everyone,

here’s something you don’t see every day – the ancient Char B1 bis moving around in Saumur, France. Notice the beautiful flames from the engine (no, that’s not intentional) at cca 1:40. The ideas about war were really different back then – going to battle in something so unwieldy is unthinkable today. Back then with all the fear of WW1 deeply embedded within soldiers, it made sense of course.

Wanna Work for Wargaming?

Here’s something to get you motivated! They are the besteresterest!

Those “grouphugs”… why can’t people just do their job properly and go home without the entire circle… hug attitude?

Seriously, this movie made me cringe. And don’t forget it next time they ask for 100 USD for a tier 3 tank – they need to have fun! :)

SU-76I Being Sold On RU Server

Hello everyone,

you probably know of the SU-85I, right? I mean, it’s been released some time ago. But now, without any fuss, Wargaming is releasing the SU-76I premium tank destroyer (tier 3). As far as I can tell, it’s available only on Russian server (in SD, of course). Uncharacteristically for Wargaming, the vehicle is available “just so”, without some crappy bundle noone wants, for 5,2 USD (yes, five dollars). This is how it looks (courtesy of wot-news):
