Support of Chieftain’s Hatch on EU Server Discontinued

Hello everyone,

I am sure many of you know and like the American server’s video series, “Chieftain’s Hatch”, where The_Chieftain, history specialist and former tanker himself, introduces various armored vehicles (last time, it was the IS-7). These videos are more detailed, longer and more accurate than Challanger’s and as such, Chieftain gained quite a fanbase and rightfully so.

His videos are in English and they run with subtitles in various EU languages (Polish, Czech, German etc.), with the Russian server having its own mutation (overdubbed in Russian). Well, they DID have the subtitles, until now. The latest IS-7 Hatch came out without the EU subtitles and some guys (now I am talking about the Czech section, although I am sure he has fans in Poland, Germany and everywhere else as well) were asking, why is that.

Well, it’s because WG EU is lazy as fuck as usual decided to discontinue making subtitles for the series according to WG staff (in Czech), as, and I quote, “it’s for NA server only”. As such, the IS-7 video will not recieve subtitles anymore either.

Naturally, I dug into this (even before this statement) a bit. Basically, the main decision was to prefer Challenger’s format of short videos, as they apparently are watched more due to the fact they are shorter (nevermind the fact they generally don’t go beyond wikipedia extent).

Oh well. English it is, I guess.

“Why do I have a weird Russian text in my garage?”

Hello everyone,

in past few days on EU forums, there have been numerous threads, asking about the same thing – “I see this weird Russian pop-up in my garage, what’s going on and what does it say?”

24ywkjr

It’s a mod thing.

Basically, you are using some modpack (Aslain’s and Jimbo’s packs were mentioned, but I am not sure), whose authors used/stole mods from another modpack, the Russian “ProTanki” one. This message is a warning from the authors of the Protanki modpack that the modpack you are using contains their mods (without permission), they are asking you to use their Protanki modpack instead.

This message does nothing, your mods won’t stop working, it’s just an annoyance. You will not be punished or anything.

WG EU: Downtime and E-25 Deadline

Hello everyone,

first, thanks to everyone for sending me messages that the servers are crashed, according to Erissa, it should all be fixed by now, 30 mins of downtime or so, so not really a big inconvenience – good :)

Now, allow me to post a public reminder:

On 15.1.2015, the E-25 will be removed from the premium shop (it was removed from the ingame shop on 22.12.2014). So, if you want it, you can still get it, because after that, it’s going to be handed out only during events and within year or so, it will be “another Type 59″ probably.

Personally, I hate that vehicle… or rather, I hate fighting against it. It’s fast, has very good camo and generally is a nuisance. It doesn’t sit well with me (I tested it), but I really hate fighting it and a skilled player can make a HUGE mess with that tank destroyer. I also hate there are so many of them lately in battles, but I would be a poor blogger, if I did not mention the deadline slowly running out.

9.5 Branch Statistics

Hello everyone,

wondering how the 9.5 vehicles are doing? Here are some statistics from the RU server, coutresy of wot-news.

fffnew

Notice how well the FV4004 is doing. Its stats are definitely pushed by the fact that by now, only hardcore/experienced players have it (along with a bunch of free-XP’ers), but still. To compare, check how FV4005 sucks, despite the fact that it’s owned by experienced players now.

Armored Warfare Requirements Published – Higher Than WoT

Hello everyone,

on Russian server, minimum requirements were published for Armored Warfare. They are as such:

Minimum:

GPU: GeForce 8600 GTS
RAM: 2GB
CPU: Intel Core 2 duo., 2 – 2,1 GHz (model 2010-2011)
System: Windows XP x86 / Windows 7 x64 / Windows 7 x86

Recommended:

GPU: GeForce GTS 250
RAM: 4GB
CPU: Intel i5 2-core, 2,9 – 3,0 GHz (model 2012-2013)
System: Windows 7 x64 / Windows 7 x86 / Windows 8 x64

The minimal configuration for World of Tanks currently is:

GPU: GeForce 6800 with 256 MB RAM / ATI X1800 with 256 MB RAM
RAM: 1,5 GB
CPU: 2,2 GHz supporting SSE2
System: Windows XP/Vista/7/8

Well… looks like the minimal configuration is higher for AW than for WoT, but not by THAT much. Surprising actually, I expected the requirements to be significantly higher, Cryengine and all that. But they say it’s just preliminary, so we’ll just have to see, won’t we.

8.1.2015

Nothing really interesting today, just posting this so nobody waits for the translations or anything. Orthodox Christmas and all that – hopefully peaceful enough :) But, if you are interested, you can read about the incident where RAF Tempests got into a fight with Israeli Air Force by Listy.

Or you can read a story of a poor plumber guy, whose truck ended up in ISIS hands.

Or you can read about the state of US forces in North Africa from a 1943 report in an article by Chieftain.

Or – if you are more modern-tank oriented, you can read an article about the newest Russian tank platform…

Okay, that’s enough reading for now… have a nice evening.

Interview with SerB on Zvezda TV

Hello everyone,

here’s an interview with Sergei “SerB” Burkatovsky on Russian “Zvezda” TV.

Notice his title: “President of the Wargaming company”. Here’s what he said.

- the popularity of World of Tanks is a complex issue. One of the elements is that the game is online and people are interested in playing with other people, not with NPC’s. Second is the free to play model, the game is free, you don’t have to pay. Third element are tanks: “In Russia, tanks are iconic” because of WW2, T-34 is a “symbol of victory”.
- another element of the popularity is that the game is simple and correctly put together
- European market and Chinese market (game market) are fully comparable to the one of the former USSR, US server has fewer players because for the Americans, WW2 was fought using ships, not mainly tanks
- SerB considers WoT one of his main successes, he is still both developing and playing, he is returning to his childhood dreams, he sees the mankind’s future in space and states that “if it’s possible to make even a small step in that direction, we have to do it”
- the reasons above are why he is investing into space industry, he states that the rockets he is investing it are made for small minisatellites, for example for student research. He then explains the plans with the rockets (3 launches per year, he believes it will be profitable, he invested 5 mil rubles, he has the option for another 5 mil)
