The Big Bad 128mm

Hello everyone,

before we continue with the article on French superheavy, a piece of info emerged yesterday, that is too good to pass up, especially since you know how I like German tanks. Very special thanks go to Thor_Hammerschlag and Zarax for providing this info.

Let’s imagine for a moment a fourth German TD branch (third being heavy assault guns, Sturmtiger and such). Yes, that is science fiction for now, such a thing will definitely not come before 2015, but just cope with me. How would it like, what is there left? Well, the Waffenträgers. Some vehicles are pretty clear, such as the Steyr Waffenträger for example. If you are interested in how such a line could look, I already wrote a post about it in the past.

But what about tier 10? Waffenträgers are fragile and on such light platforms, I think there would be no room for “classic” cassette autoloaders (leaving you with hydraulic assist, but that’s a story for another time). We already have the King of Burst WT E-100 for now, so it has to be a different platform. Ideally with the gun in the back, for better weight distribution, probably limited rotation, not to tip the whole damn thing over when firing. What I like most is this (yet another Rheinmetall Borsig) proposal setup:

rhb

Of course, other platforms are available and perhaps the Panther one would be more suitable for such a vehicle. But that’s not what I wanted to write about, perhaps I will at some point in the future.

Invite codes

Hello everyone,

Theatyhannington submitted some invite codes for US server (not sure they work for EU):

N8M39X6FAM64BS (same)

Potential Hull Upgrades: Soviet Heavy Tanks

Having already explored medium and light tank options, heavy tanks are the next logical choice. You should already be familiar with how this works, so let’s get to it.

The first Soviet heavy tank is the KV-1, at tier 5. Its hull options were exhaustively explored in a previous article. I was going to suggest that the KV-1S hull be available as an upgrade to make the tank go a little faster than its current sluggish pace, but alas, the KV-1S (KV-85) was revealed to be a future tier 5 heavy tank literally today, making a lightened hull option very unlikely. The only remaining option is the KV-6 (KV-1 with 90 mm of hull armour) and KV-1 with additional armour screens (100 mm of hull armour). Both changes are rather predictable, a more armoured, slower tank.

What, you missed SerB’s trolling? Let’s have some light trolling then…

- there isn’t a possibility to mount stabilizers on some oscillating turret vehicles, because the stabilizer can’t stabilize an entire turret. However, some OT vehicles can mount it, as this issue was dealt with technically in real life
- it’s possible that after 0.8.9, “huge” patch 0.9.0 will not follow, there might be a 0.8.10 patch instead

FTR Q&A 1 – Answers

So, few hours ago, I sent the 20 questions away and the answers are already here!

To explain, how it works: I gathered your questions in English. I had to change the wording in most cases (typos, sometimes the meaning was unclear), so I hope you get to “recognize” your questions. Then I sent the questions to Zlobny (still in English), who then “redistributed” them to appropriate departments (some are answered by Storm for example). In one case, I was asked to reformulate one question for appropriate meaning.

The replies came back in Russian, I translated them to English. The questions are in the form I sent to Zlobny. The name of the replying developer is behind the answer (where applicable, I assume it’s Zlobny himself replying where there is no name).

1. Will Dragon Ridge come back at any point – if so, soon?

For now, there are no plans to return this map (Storm)

2. TDs lines seem to be getting the public’s eye right now, are there any plans for introducing more mediums?

Well, in any case there will be the Japanese tanks soon and we will add Soviet tier 9 and 10 medium tanks. And of course, it’s not realistic to imagine any new nation tree without medium tanks.

Storm talking about nerfs

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/253902.html
Author: Storm

Storm recently made a post on the developer blog. Here’s its translation:

I’ve read another whine letter:

“ANSWER ME WHY DO YOU NERF IS3 I SPENT MONEY WHY YOU NO COMPENSATE I AM NOT HAPPY. YOU NERF IS3 WHY!!!! WHY DONT YOU NERF FOCH AGAIN! I AM STILL WAITING. TWO PATCHES ALREADY. WILL YOU NERF FOCH OR NOT. I JUST STARTED LEVELLING IT….”

(SS: the letter continues, broken Russian, typos, all caps, swearing… absolute idiocy)

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. And what do you think, what should we do about necessery nerfs and and changes based on documents, describing historical armor, that appear all the time?

Confirmed: KV-1S is getting split

Hello everyone,

what everyone whispered about and hinted at was confirmed by SerB: KV-1S is getting split.

OPovQhKR

KV-1S will be tier 5. KV-85 (KV-1S with a bigger turret), KV-100 and KV-122 (which is basically a KV-1S hull with bigger 1800mm turret ring and IS turret) will stay on tier 6 (all three as one tank, to be clear). Therefore, KV-1S will be a faster, but less armored alternative to KV-1, the tier 6 vehicle will not lose its 122mm gun (looks like SerB won the argument).

Update: For those fearing nothing will change – current KV-1S is a blend of “light” original KV-1S mobility and KV-122 firepower. The new KV-122 is likely to be a lot slower, less agile and I am sure they will have a look at the gun balance stats too.

Polish T-mobile affair makes news

A quick update on the affair I reported last night, thanks to WhiteWizzard

Hello everyone,

last night, I informed you about a nasty WG EU fail in the Polish community. And I somehow expected it to die down. However, it seems that instead, the affair gathers strength. Today, one of the most visited news servers in Poland, Gazeta.pl, had a link on its main page, linking to its own computer games subsidiary website, where the affair was also published. No new info there, but it’s very, very bad PR for WG EU.

Looks like the fails of Wargaming EU will not stay confined to forums and EU forums…
