WG EU and FTR fail: false positive ban

Hello everyone,

we now have an interesting turn of events. Three days ago, I posted an article about how WG EU busted a competition cheater. What happened: player PomFrit basically took a BT-2 to tier 10 via trollplatoons. He then shot a tier 10 tank several times, resulting in massive XP gain. As a result, WG EU (possibly CZ staff) banned him from the competition (plus a 7 day ingame ban) for cheating, because everyone was convinced it was rigged.

Hero of the Day wrong description

Hello everyone,

just quick heads up for those who haven’t noticed yet. There’s a new October daily mission announced on the portal: Hero of the Day – deal 50k damage per day, earn 250k credits. Or, is it?

The ingame description looks like this:

So, another portal screwup? No. In this case, it’s a client issue. Tuccy specifically confirmed that it’s the 50k damage that’s valid and not 50k XP requirement (that would have been harsh). It’ll be fixed within the client at some point.

30.9.2013

- FV300 is planned to be introduced as British light tank, but SerB states that other than that (it’s a tier 6 probably), the British have no hightier LT candidates, unless WG digs something up at Bovington
- SerB considers the 8.8 German rebalance “fair”
- the Lowe side armor is historical, it belongs to one of the models mentioned in Panzer Tracts (SS: Lowe is a mashup of two models in game, I think there’s an article on that in old FTR)

Buff My Tank: KV-1

Disclaimer: the contents of these articles merely illustrate the resources available for a historically accurate buff. This article does not imply that these changes should happen or will happen, either in combination or individually.

Old-timers remember a different KV tank. Its 152 mm gun was a menace to tier 5 tanks. For a long time, it was the only tier 5 heavy that could see tier 9 tanks in battle, and the old HE mechanics made it no slouch against those either. Today, it is a shadow of that former glory. Let’s see if we can do anything about that.

Exotic GER guns part 3 – 81mm L/105

Hello everyone,

today, we are going to have a look at one of the least known German guns, the 81mm L/105. It was a smoothbore AT gun and as far as we know, it was never considered for a self-propelled gun platform, but it could make an interesting option for mid-tier German tank destroyers.

81mm

The origin and properties of this gun are somewhat mysterious. Its prototype was found by the Americans after the war on some artillery shooting range. The gun is designated as 8,1cm Panzerabwehrwerfer, which implies it’s a gun of the same type as the 81,4mm PAW 600, based on high-low pressure system with the intent to fire HEAT shells. It’s a smoothbore gun, but – just like the PAW600 – completely historical.
