today, we are going to look at one pretty interesting story, that has possibly set one of the world records. And the hero of the story? ČKD AH-IV tankette.
The background of the AH-IV is relatively well known. It was born in mid 30′s and it was the pinnacle of Czech tankette evolution. After the disastrous experience with the infamous Tančík Vz.33 (P-I), that was almost universally hated, ČKD decided it was time for some improvements and designed something on the border between a tankette and a light tank.
And now, thanks to Trassal(RU), we can have a look what is in that museum. He took a trip there and decided to share some of the pictures with us. Let’s have a look at them :)

Welcome to the 12th edition of Ensign’s Q&A, where you ask questions, and I answer them. The previous edition can be found here.
Q: Is there anything in Soviet archived indicating what the Soviet troops though of German tanks as far as comfort was concerned?
A: The PzIII is indicated several times as being fairly luxurious (as far as tanks go), and well liked by commanders that used them as command vehicles (once the radios have been replaced, of course).
First, three pieces of info from a guy who personally visits a WG event just today (source)
- KV-1S will not be nerfed, it will be split into KV-85 and KV-122 (SS: with KV-122 being probably tier 7, but this is not confirmed)
- in 8.9, some tier 4-7 arties (that were overnerfed before) will be buffed
- top tier arties will not be buffed, their stats are fine
- second CW campaign will start at the end of October, it will use tier 4-6-8-10 tanks (based on current company rules)
here’s something not concerning tanks or WoT directly, but it could be. You see, there’s a (quite popular) channel on Youtube about game designing, called “Extra Credits“. It’s a weekly show about videogames and videogame industry. It usually doesn’t deal with specific games, but with various game aspects and effects. I really like its cute animation style and the fact that it looks at various aspects of gaming and game design from a different perspective, than many other blogs. If you are interested in games beyond the generic “they red me shoot”, I can strongly recommend this show.
But that’s not why I write this.
The most recent part deals not with games per se, but history. The story goes that the developers of Total War: Rome II gave the makers of this channel a call and asked them to introduce the historical aspect the game in a funny, witty and entertaining way. The first part is about the Punic wars and… well, here it is:
So, what I am thinking: it would be really cool to actually have something like this for WoT. There are TONS of myths, garbage, interesting stories and all the other things still out there. Wouldn’t it be really cool for Wargaming, he they actually paid these guys to issue such a video on tanks and the history too? I’d certainly enjoy it more than the (let’s face it, a bit boring) “historical” videos, narrated by guy/bot, who insists pronouncing “Jagdpanzer” with “J” (as in “Jerry”)…..
since the disclosure of the second German tank destroyer line, a lot of people have been showing concern about how the high-tier 150mm guns (L/29,5 and L/38) will perform. Specifically, a lot of people fear that the guns will have low penetration and the WT will end up with an autoloaded version of E-100′s gun, because the caliber and barrel length is apparently the same and lots of people don’t see beyond that.
This article is here to actually alleviate some of the “fears” of this.
According to the official press release of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the online game World of Tanks attracts young people to the armor branch of the army and will in the future be one of the steps of new tanker training, said Lieutenant-General Alexander Shevchenko, the head of the armored vehicles department of MoD Russia.
“I think that the players of the game will be unique candidates the more we rely on computer technology. I think it will be one of the stages of preparation of future crews for future vehicles”, Shevchenko told the “Echo Moskvy” radiostation.
……..
SS: So, in order to join the Russian army, you’ll have to have 55 percent and more winrate. No noobs allowed :)

This is a purely speculative article that takes into account WOT German tech tree and uses historical tanks to speculate possible new tank additions. While trying to keep the articles faithful to history some room for inaccuracy is allowed within these rules:
1) No tank or tank part will be 100% made up, at least a mention about tank role and vague specs are needed
2) Components not planned for the tank are allowed, provided it wouldn’t create grotesque inaccuracies like putting a gun that would obviously cripple a tank under its weight
3) This will be limited to WWII plans, anything post war risks to be too arbitrary to properly balance
No serious expectation of anything listed to appear in WOT as described is applied, but as we’re discussing about implementing history into an arcade game some items will be controversial.
This is unavoidable as WOT tech tree rules need a tank to be better than the previous one and ergonomics are not exactly cared about, meaning that most designs are over-performing their real counterparts.
With the approaching Waffentrager tree, today we will see my personal take on the possible sturmpanzer tree. SilentStalker recently had his own take on it, but I disagree on some choices and also prefer a shorter, more intense grind.
