what follows is the Wargaming text, given out to Wargaming stooges Community Contributors. Here goes:
In patch 9.0 you will be able to enter the “Historical Battle Mode” by choosing ‘Historical battles’ in the window for battle type selection. This option is disabled if you are in a platoon.
Below you can see the menu for selection between historical battles which appears after you have entered the mode:
Okay guys, here’s the stream from yesterday, where I was a guest of Rita. It starts at roughly 1h02min of the stream (Rita was playing before that) and ends after roughly 2 hours.
today, we are going to talk about 16,5 centimeters of awesomeness. Sorry to disappoint you, ladies, I am of course talking about the L9 demolition gun caliber.
Now, everyone knows Churchill AVRE and its 290mm spigot mortar, hurling 18kg shells at 80 meters (it had actually longer range than that, but at longer ranges, it was not accurate enough to lead effective fire). With its massive armor and this kind of firepower, no wonder a lot of people would like to see it in World of Tanks. While Churchill AVRE is probably the best known AVRE vehicle, it’s certainly not the only one. It has a couple of “cousins” (some very distant ones) and one of them is the Centurion AVRE.
- Storm confirms that a part of the tanks in the game will have real sounds, recorded from real existing tanks of the proper type. The rest will have apparently sounds from roughly the same class of tanks (analogues)
- according the Wargaming, the following situation is not a bug, but a result of shells originating (flying out) from the mantlet while shooting with the unaimed gun
- apparently, the situation above is a result of a compromise between game mechanics and historical realism
- occasional desynchronisation between client and server is unavoidable with current state of world network development
- artillery shells flying outside of the aim circle was identified as a bug, it will be fixed in 9.0
- Russian “Valuev” voiceover will not be reworked
a lot of artillery players have noticed a bug, where shells tend to land all over the place, in a completely different sector or just outside of the screen. You can see it here (a video from Russian server):
Well, I have good news. Storm confirmed that this bug has been identified and it will be fixed in 9.0
according to the internal Community Contributor Wargaming forum post by Tuccy from today (should he be spreading it earlier than the release?), official 9.0 info (probably the ASAP magazine, but Edrard also mentioned a bunch of official screenshots coming this week) will arrive at 16:00 CET tomorrow. Looking forward to it :)
Tuccy:“Ahojte, pánové, Během dneška dostaneme nějaké nové informace k 9.0, které jsou určeny ke zveřejnění zítra v 16:00 SEČ. Kdo má zájem?”
(“Hi gentlemen, today, we will get some new pieces of info for 9.0, that are intended for publishing tomorrow at 16:00 CET. Who’s interested?”)
just quick heads up: today at 7PM (+1, CET), I will be a guest at Rita’s stream, talking about WoT, answering questions and such… like last time. Hope to see you there!

the International Woman’s Day weekend is gone, so this post might be a little less actual than I actually intended – but nevertheless, I think it’s worth seeing, because this is one of the funniest things Wargaming ever produced. Check this out, this is the World of Tanks video from Russian server (it was never translated to other languages):
It says:
“We made a survey and found out that there are many more woman players than there are men players”
First one: Olga, 34 years, proud of her son, has mastery badge on all vehicles
Mother: “Why did you go through the center?”
Son: “Well, everyone went through there”
Mother: “And if everyone starts shooting their teammates, you will do that too, yes?”
Mother: “I believe in you so much that I told everyone you are better with heavies and scouts”
Second one: Anna, 22 years, loves to cook borsch and to play it (SS: “Borsch”, apart from being traditional Russian soup, is also a Russian nickname for WT RhB)
Third one: Katya, 25 years, Julia, 26 let, friends, they play artillery in platoon
Katya: “I don’t know which one to take first, winter or summer”
Julia: “Listen, camouflage is not the most important thing, the most important is to level up camo skill and the light bulb” (SS: “light bulb” (lampochka) is Russian nickname for Sixth Sense”)
(seeing the guys) Katya: “….and he can’t screw in the light bulb for an enire week!”
Fourth one: Victoria, 30 years, lovers her husband, 64 percent winrate
Victoria: “He was directly in your aim circle and you missed. You NOOB!”
Victoria: “Noob”
“Conclusion: Actually, there are significantly fewer woman players than men. But that’s the reason we love them and value them even more.”
