Storm talks about 9.1 Balance Changes

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/286750.html

Hello everyone,

Storm just disclosed some info as to what will happen in patch 9.1.

- TD camouflage bonus after shooting will be removed (SS: currently, when shooting, TD’s don’t lose as much camo as other classes, this will be a nasty nerf especially to very fragile TD’s with big guns, such as the Borsig and WT Panzer IV)
- some light tanks will be buffed (at the very least, MT-25 and VK2801), MT-25 should be buffed approximately to the old T-50-2 level
- tier 4+ light tanks will have their MM tier spread reduced (there will be exceptions for certain vehicles)
- 12 of the worst tanks (statistically) will be buffed and 8 of the best will be nerfed

From the discussion:

- Veider states that the camo issue concerns all TD’s, they are too stealthy, this is caused a lot by the TD stealth bonuses
- after the nerf, TD’s without armor will have to keep more distance from their targets
- the list of “good” and “bad” tanks will not be disclosed now
- Aufklärungspanzer Panther will not be rebalanced in 9.1, but later
- Tiger I will be nerfed a bit
- rear-turret VK4502B will not be buffed or nerfed
- improved anti-aliasing will come until the end of the year along with Dx11 support
- Tortoise is slightly OP, but the armor change (nerf) in 9.0 will have some effect, if it’s not enough, it will be nerfed
- FV 215b (183) is apparently doing fine
- rebalance is not based only on winrate

European Tree part I – Introduction of the Concept

Hello everyone,

today, we are going to talk about one of the not-so-many things left to implement, when it comes to adding new tanks: the European tree concept. We’ll talk about what it is, what it could bring, how it is interesting for YOU and why it would be a big mistake to scrap it. It’s going to be a long read, so I’ll just make it into several parts and hope you like long texts, when it comes to FTR :)

What is it

Sometimes, people get confused, when “EU tree” is mentioned. “What is it” they ask (usually followed by “and why the hell would we want that”). In short: the EU tree would consist of all the European smaller nations, that actually had their own tank development, but didn’t make it to the game, because (in some cases) they do not fulfill the criteria for introducing the entire tree (the condition for that currently is that the nation in question has to have ALL the classes, researchable up to tier 10). These nations are actually many – the prominent ones are Italy, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and a few others. The development (or rather, “tank use” in some cases) in these nations ranged from pretty much copypaste (Bulgaria for example) to very original and interesting development (Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia) – there is this myth going around that European nations other than those in the game just used copypaste US/Soviet stuff, but that’s not true, not by a longshot. Well, at least in some cases anyway – some copying (or “inspiration”) is obviously inevitable, but it’s nowhere near the “world of T-54 clones” China (or even Russia) has for example.

SerB answers…

Source: Wotleaks VK community

Hello everyone,

russian Wotleaks VK community member visited the official launch event for the “Stalin’s Balls of Steel” book of Yuri Pasholok, where SerB allegedly answered some things. I will translate what was written (thanks to Maiorboltach for copying it to LJ), but…

This info is not confirmed and could be distorted. I do not guarantee it is true.

- multicore support will come this year
- T-44-85 will come this year (SS: I find this hard to believe)
- 2014 and the beginning of 2015 is dedicated to HD graphic rework, no new branches are planned
- buffing KV-5? “It’s done when it’s done” (SS: this seems unlikely)
- there will be more events like the Christmas one with the IS-6 – preliminary estlimate is summer, but maybe also during (Russian) May holidays
- it’s completely possible that there will be a separate Wargaming game with modern tanks
- Christie tanks will come gradually, we plan them for Fall of this year
- Italian branch – not in 2014
- the next WG (Tactical Press) book will be about IS tanks
- a couple of premium tanks will be released
- LT buff? “We will limit their MM spread and will introduce a couple of premium ones”
- next map to be implemented will be Kharkov

XVM and Politics

Hello everyone,

the developers of super-popular XVM mod made an interesting thing last night:

3329_original

The blue-yellow test says “Slava Ukraini” – “glory to Ukraine”. According to a post (that was removed in the meanwhile), the text was added to XVM in last night’s build. It caused some butthurt in the Russian community…

Panzer IV Gun Depression

Hello everyone,

just a quick update (thanks to some very decent people from WG RU for confirming this). The patchnotes for 9.0 – at least the Russian ones – are fucked up. What it says there:

Угол склонения орудия 10,5 cm Kw.K. L/28 уменьшен с 7 до 5°.
Угол склонения орудия 7,5 cm Kw.K. 40 L/43 уменьшен с 8 до 7°.
Угол склонения орудия 7,5 cm Kw.K. 40 L/48 уменьшен с 8 до 6°.

Translated:

Angle of depression of the gun 10,5 cm Kw.K. L/28 reduced from 7 to 5 degrees
Angle of depression of the gun 7,5 cm Kw.K. 40 L/43 reduced from 8 to 7 degrees
Angle of depression of the gun 7,5 cm Kw.K. 40 L/48 reduced from 8 to 6 degrees

This “common” depression applies only when the gun is aiming at the sides. It was reduced for the gun not to interfere with the Schurzen. The L/48 gun depression aiming forward is actually 10 degrees (in a 60 degree angle, eg. 30 degrees from the axis of the vehicle on each side), with 9 degrees when facing backwards.

For the L/43 it’s 10 degrees depression both facing forwards and backwards. For the 105mm howitzer, it’s 10 degrees forward and 8 backward.

Weekly FTR contributor review

Hello everyone,

once again it’s the time to thank the contributors, it’s you who keep FTR running after all! This time, following people donated via Paypal:

Ivan R. (Kazakhstan)
jrt5 (Czech Republic)
Byron G. (New Zealand) – thanks for the contribution of 0,01 Eur, appreciated :)
WinG_HU (Hungary) – he wanted to relay following message: “Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized tanks or 1 tank-sized duck? I’d like a proper answer publicly! Thanks, and keep up the good work!””)

I was recently made aware by several mails that I apparently don’t advertise the Patreon thingie enough, so here goes:

The best way to help me and FTR is via the Patreon service

14.4.2014

Check out Listy’s article about the 1974 Cyprus war!

Also, I wanted to post this before, always forgot – check out a (belated) interesting take on the WGL Warsaw finals

- apparently, new clan functions will appear in 9.1
- “yellow” damaged optics do not reduce vehicle vierange, only red do (by 50 percent)
- “yellow” damaged tracks also do not reduce tank mobility
- transmission and engine are currently the same in World of Tanks, but for game purposes, there will be a separation implemented (SS: as in, hitting transmission will be different from hitting the engine)
- the “10 caliber rule” (SS: a shell flies the distance of 10 its calibers upon entering the tank, after that it disappears, eg. a 100mm shell flies for 1000mm) counts from the point of penetrating the armor group, the penetration of which causes damage to the tank
- T95 is doing fine statistically
