WT-E100 historical after all?

Source: http://yuripasholok.livejournal.com/2766323.html

Hello everyone,

Yuri Pasholok posted an interesting thing: a short excerpt from the Combined Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee (CIOS) from March 1946 about the E-series vehicle.

As you can see, according o this report (however accurate it might be), the tank hull could have been redesignated as a self-propelled hull, opening the possibility to the existence of the WT E-100 (and, of course, the Sturmgeschütz E-100). At this point, Yuri Pasholok states that based on this info, the ingame fictional WT E-100 could have “a right to exist”… interesting :)

40/43M. Zrínyi II and 44M. Zrínyi I assault guns

Author: Károly “Karika” Németh

Hello everyone, we have another article from Károly Németh here, this time about the Zrínyi assault guns. Enjoy! -SS

History:

Zrínyi II

Based on the German war experiences, in 1942 the HM (Hungarian Ministry of Defence) decided to arm the Hungarian Army with self-propelled artillery and tank destroyer units. At first, they tried to buy a proven German vehicle (such as the StuG III), but Germany refused to sell any of their modern tank or SPG design. To solve this problem as soon (and as cheap) as possible, the Hungarian engineers combined two (separately not too successful) ingredients: the 40. M 105mm field howitzer and the chassis of the Turán medium tank, creating the Zrínyi assault howitzer.

Italy’s Workhorse; the CV.3 Series

So I’ve been looking at Italian tanks for some time now here and with talk of forthcoming European vehicles for a new tree it’s a good time to have a look at some more Italian tech.

Italy’s Workhorse; the CV.3 Series

Development

The CV.3 tank was developed from the British Vickers-Carden-Loyd Mk.VI, examples of which Italy had bought complete in 1929 along with kits for a further 21 vehicles and a licence (a little later) to produce more which were named CV.29. The CV.29 initially used the same Ford Model T 4 cylinder petrol engine producing 20hp and had armour ranging from 4 to 9mm thick. After a fairly short development process the first vehicles were accepted in 1933 under the name Carro Veloce 3. (Fast Tank 3 tonnes – even though it weighed 3.2 to 3.4 tonnes depending on source) The name was later changed to L.3/33. (‘Leggero’ Light Tank 3 tonnes 1933 and the names L.3 and CV.3 are used interchangeably across sources. I prefer CV.3 so shall stick with that)

Check out Listy’s article about Chieftain (Part II)

- Italian heavy line? “No comment”
- Italian ships will definitely appear in World of Warships and there is a chance there might also be Italian planes in WoWp
- the shell spread circle increase with distance is linear (SS: as in, if the spread at 100 meters is 0,3m, at 1000 meters it will be 3m)
- Q: “Why is there spotting damage not in your statistics, when it is important for LT gameplay?” A: “*writes down* And not to forget, ugly glances!” (SS: this is a joke, where whenever players demand rewards for something really easy, SerB answers “And wouldn’t you want rewards for throwing ugly glances at the enemy too?” – in this case, chances are it will not be implemented. Or it might. Either way, low priority)
- there is a chance some tanks will have hulls with additional applique armor (SS: Schurzen for example) as their alternative hulls
- SerB mentions that the top tier of the Italian medium branch candidate could be the Leopard 1 with an autoloader (SS: this was found by Raptor_Fulcrum I think), but no decision in this matter has been taken yet
- Playstation WoT will not come, as WG has an exclusive contract with Microsoft
- WoT under Unix and Linux (with OpenGL support)? Apparently there is some issue with OpenGL. “Time will tell” – this will however not come in following months.
- Japanese superheavy tanks are still planned
- M18 Hellcat is doing fine statistically
- no comment on the upcoming premium vehicles this year
- Sturmtiger fits tier 10 (SS: not in 2014 most likely)
- SerB is not sure, whether the Chi-Ru project is not a post-war fake, but if it’s not, it’s possible it will appear in the game
- according to SerB, a part of the issues with the RU251 was solved

Light tank gameplay in WOT, what could be improved?

As WG is seemingly aware of light tanks becoming less competitive as class, I decided to interview some EU players about their feeling on what the issues are and what should be improved.

The sample was pretty small (15 players), but then I wanted opinions rather than statistics so don’t take it as a huge poll capable of influencing WG.
The players ranged from Bad WN to Unicum levels with an average of 1294 according to noobmeter.com so relatively skilled players (not unexpected given that active forums posters usually are the better informed and skilled part of the community) and definitely better than yours truly, which is average at best.

So, what did those players think about it?

Whine of the Banned Botter

Source: http://www.thebuddyforum.com/tankleader-forum/ban-section-ban-reports/149348-ban.html

Hello everyone,

since I am naturally an evil person, nothing makes me more happy than to see the whine of a botter, caught in the act and his account permabanned. His tears are delightful and although he managed to have his ban “overturned” to an account wipe, he raged even further. Pretty funny stuff :)

Meet Vend3tt4, a convicted bot and hear his moaning :) By the way, the first support worker’s name “Antoine Dodson”…. I am almost certain the name is fake, but if it’s really his name… poor guy.

Edit:

You know who this guy is? His name was familiar to me. Remember the FTR Bot Menace post with the T-54 bot video, demonstrating the new and “advanced” bot version? He’s the guy running that bot.

Be careful, the post is very long (TLDR: botter rages, WG support is resolute, results in account wipe).

US T92 Light Tank – tier 8?

Hello everyone,

not so long ago (prior to the introduction of patch 8.11), Storm mentioned one of his comments that there are two candidates for tier 8 American light tank: the T49 (upgunned Walker Bulldog) and the T92 Light Tank.

The T92 was being mentioned as a possible tier 8 American candidate on forums ever since the tier 8 light tank concept came to be – or, at least, ever since there was a talk of introducing high-tier scouts for other nations than the French. This of course happened (with various degrees of success), but the Americans are still waiting for their high-tier light tanks and it looks like they might get them this year. But is the T92 REALLY good enough for it to be a tier 8 candidate? Well, let’s have a look!

15.2.2014

- it will not be possible to pay for gold by Bitcoin. SerB: “No – and you won’t be able to pay with candy wrappers either.”
- apparently, more “old-style” Soviet premium vehicles (slow, well armored, like Matilda, KV-5, Valentine) will not be introduced (“there is enough of them in general as it is”)
- the fact a tank has specialized crew (SS: as in, if a commander is a gunner also, he can’t in real life do both things at the same time properly) or not is reflected in the vehicle’s characteristics
- if there ever is a WoT version for MacOS, Android and *nix systems, it will most likely have simplified graphics, but no more info for now
- Q: “SerB is a writer, he should be writing and not designing games, hire game professional!” A: (SerB): “I shut up before this cool professional :) How is it possible we didn’t ruin the game without listening to you – I have no idea!”

From Overlord’s blog:

- right now scouts rebalancing is being worked on: “It’s one of the balancing priorities to make LTs viable again. Without screwing up the other classes.”
- apparently, the camo effect of bushes and trees will also be addressed
- apparently the lag issue is a “major thing” for Wargaming
- “There is a bug related to mastery badges. We are working on it.”

About bigger maps:

“Actually bigger maps have been tested for quite a while. It’s a complex thing that comprises performance and gameplay. I wouldn’t say, there is a clear plan for this thing right now. “

About too many 15-3 and 15-4 battles:

“This is not confirmed statistically. Just perception.”

About fixing the lag:

“I wish (we all do) it was that easy. When connection issues kick in, it’s always complex . Could be backbone ISP side, could be changes in game/packet traffic, and many other things. Any of the potential reason can also be quite difficult to deal with.”

and

“Traffic volume have increased X-fold since 2011 and situation is now different. The traffic gets huge spikes after each update overloading some/many networks and ISPs. Sometimes it’s difficult to find out on which side the issue is on.”

About MM balance:

“For random matches we ensure equal balancing only for top 5 vehicles. For the rest of the teams the requirements are softer.”
