New WG personal rating analysis

Source: wot-news.com

Hello everyone,

today, we have something interesting, an analysis of the new personal rating by Edrard. For those who do not know, Edrard is the creator of Efficiency Rating and the owner of wot-news.com – so he is highly competent to comment on this latest Wargaming feature.

Edrard:

And so it was that with the patch 8.8, Wargaming decided to join the list of player rankings with its new invention, called Personal Player Rating (furthermore as PR). This article will consist of a small analysis of this rating, will mention good and bad sides, but whether to use the PR or not, that’s up to you. So for starters, let’s have a look at the formula:

1dts

bc – amount of battles played (“battlecount”)
win – winrate (interval 0-1)
surv – survival rate (interval 0-1)
hit – hitrate (0-1)
xp – average XP per battle
dmg – average dmg dealt per battle

The formula seems complicated at first glance, but it is not – its parameters can be seen clearly, including the modifiers and their influence on other values. For this article, I will use a (random) player with following parameters:

WoT and Golden Joystick

Yes, it’s that time of the year again, the Golden Dildo Joystick is coming. Of course, a lot has happened since the last GJ award, so – the real question is: does WG deserve to win this year?

My point of view (as an European player) is: no. Not this time. Despite what WG EU might (and will) offer for victory, it’s not worth it.

8.8 issues, FTR edition

Hello everyone,

here are a bunch of issues I found on the 8.8 patch. Not sure you agree with me or not, but here’s how I see it.

- graphics: while for some reason (optimization?) the graphics now run much smoother, the game is now impossible to minimize and then maximize. If you do that, weird graphic artefacts will appear.

- LAG! I am not sure what happened in 8.8, but ever since it came live, I am having terrible lags on EU1, making the game quite hard to play. Here’s a replay from today to demonstrate:

My ping went up too, before 8.8 it was 50-70 max, now it rarely goes below 70. I tried playing on EU2, where the ping was always a bit higher, now the pings on both servers are practically identical for me. EU2 has fewer lags, but there are still many more than I used to have. The computer is clean (no malware), nothing is running in the background and I don’t use any mods. I also don’t have any lag issues with other online games. Any suggestions are welcomed.

WG fail: SEA “112″ edition

Source: http://forum.worldoftanks.asia/index.php?/topic/25228-get-your-112s-while-they-are-hot-d/

I normally don’t post SEA news, but this is just brilliant :)

You know, how they introduced the 112 and T-34-3 in 8.8? Well, SEA server management decided it would be a brilliant idea to actually put the 112 and T-34-3 into the gift shop BEFORE the patch 8.8 – but wait, that can’t be right, that won’t work, right?

Well, it does work, because the model is already there. It’s just that the 112 doesn’t have the 8.8 stats, it has the 8.7 (supertester) stats, that are overpowered as hell (300 pen shells etc). And the result?

Well…

About an hour ago, the tanks were pulled back from sales, but not before whole bunch of folks bought them and started trolling the battlefields. Way to go :)

11.9.2013

- Storm confirms: KwK = tank gun, PaK = anti-tank gun (SS: a lot of people are confused by this designation. While in real life there were often some changes on both guns (for example re-worked breech to fit it on some platform), essentially both versions are roughly equal. In other words: designating a gun PaK and not KwK in the game doesn’t grant it any special properties)
- it’s highly possible that the rating formula will be reworked, based on feedback
- T-34-3 ingame performance evaluation will take “no less than a month” – a couple of weeks for players to get used to it and a couple of weeks to collect the data (SS: after that it is possible it will be buffed/nerfed)
- the personal rating now takes into account only average damage per battle regardless of tier (SS: this is not to promote sealclubbing)

New 8.8 teamdamage system

Source: http://world-of-ru.livejournal.com/2495768.html

First a little video from RU server:

This is a video from live 8.8 on RU server (you can see the VK3002M there). The guy was banned for “team damaging” (that was the popping up window) after some very slight (but repeated) damage.

In other words: be VERY careful who you ram/damage in 8.8.

TVP-STT: Czechoslovak Tier 10 TD project

This is a bit unusual post, because it’s not definitive. I basically will outline an idea here and if it is successful (as in: “readers like it”), I will work on developing it.

Hello, everyone

Today we are going to have a look at a little article I did put together. It’s going to be long, so if you are the “TLDR,LOL” type, feel free to skip it or something, in order to describe the line of thought behind this project we’ll have to dig a bit deeper than usual.

The Rise of the Tank Destroyer

Our story begins, as stories often do, with an idea. The first two years of what would become known as WW2 were marked with the incredible success of the Blitzkrieg. This was war like no other, with no clear lines being designated by series of trenches. This was something new. Under the might of the German Panzers, Poland crumbled and even the previously so praised French army couldn’t stop the armored tide. The golden age of armor has begun.
