- the amount of shells carried in vehicles is historical, unless the number influences balance
- apparently, the situation where a light vehicle survives large caliber gun hits is historical, the vehicle might have survived a penetrating hit and rushed off before the enemy vehicle or gun fired off another shot
- there was a time in the past (during alpha stage) when tanks did not actually have modules and the slope of armor did not count. This is how the tank hitbox looked back then:
- internal modules were introduced in patch 0.4.0
- it’s possible that in WoT Blitz, teamdamage will be completely disabled as an experiment
one Russian web radio recently made an interview with WG producer, Anton “Evilly” Pankov. The most interesting answers are:
- it’s planned that when KV-1S is split into two tanks, players will get both tanks. Details will come later.
- it’s planned that when FV4202 is made a premium tank, it will be given for free to players the way T34 was. Details will come later.
- Stalingrad map will apparently come in 0.9.4 (SS: which means Havok will as well?)
- average age of WoT players is 29 years
- changed Malinovka will come in 0.9.3
- 0.9.3 will bring three LT8 tanks: American, Soviet, German
- Japanese tanks will not come this year (SS: possibly with the exception of a premium tier 8 medium tank I think)
- Firefly branch with high tier tank destroyers will come this year (SS: Firefly, Challenger/Avenger, Charioteer, Conway, FV4005 Stage 2 in this order from tier 6)
- average daily amount of players of WoT is 4 million
in the post linked above, WG puts down some of the interesting tidbits you might have not known about World of Tanks. Enjoy!
- while it might seem unlikely, compared to today, this is how hangar looked during the alpha testing stage of WoT
- each tank goes through 21 stages of development, before it appears on supertest server
- the total amount of variables (hp, gun damage etc.) for all the tanks in the game is 37000
- before the game went live, the alpha/beta testers recieved a nice “1st of April” present in form of a BelAZ truck. It was the fastest produced vehicle ever, its creation took 16 hours only.
- 9.3 test – “when it’s done it’s done” (SS: in roughly 2 weeks or so)
- the TD and regular version of guns are different in the game, they do not necesserily have to have the same stats even on the same tier
- the punishment for a teamkiller who would get worse MM than normal players will not be implemented (difficult to implement)
- WoT Blitz: in first months – more than 5 million installs from 50 countries
Yea, also watching stream for bits of info, so far, mehhhhhhhhhhh….
A summary of everything I missed in last few days. Apparently, one of the WoWp developers left the Persha studio in Kiev. I asked around and from what I could gather, Wargaming (despite constant claims of the opposite) pretty much stopped considering WoWp as a successful/perspective project (to put it mildly).
Also, if you are wondering where are not exactly tons of QA – Storm is on vacation. Enjoy!
- new visibility (viewrange) system is being worked on
- Stalingrad map will be “really nice”, won’t come in 9.3
- Stalingrad will come earlier than within half a year
- WG thinks that the most active Stronghold mode will be the tier 6 battles
- air raid will come in WoT (SS: Stronghold consumable)
- apparently, thinking of having a PvE mode with a “boss” in Maus for example that would require some player skill would be “serious AI overestimation”
- according to player feedback, Kharkov is the most popular map in World of Tanks
(skipped the idiotic “25 percent RNG will not be reduced” etc. stuff)
- Havok will come in 9.4 or 9.5
- new tank motion physics might come in 9.3
- tank balancing is made by 10 people (plus helpers), graphics are worked on by 3 people, model making is outsourced, moderators and support staff – 3000 people
- map Stalingrad is already created with Havok in mind (will not come in 9.3)
- Stalingrad is made by the same people as Havok
- El Halluf 9.2 changes might be cancelled? “We will keep an eye on statistics” (including heat analysis)
- in Havok, spotting after the new wall destruction will work the same way as it did until now
- in Havok the mosque in El Halluf will remain indestructible
Recently, Russian servers were suffering from a large amount of breakdowns. According to Evilly, it’s not directly connected to the game patches though, so hopefully, it will not appear on EU and US servers.
- there is a chance (but no direct plan yet) of the IS-3 BL-9 being removed and replaced by a historical gun (D-25TA) of equal firepower
- the next non-regular tank to be implemented is apparently the T-34-85M
- Doppelrohrkasemattpanzer introduction is not likely at this moment, but it’s not completely out of question apparently
(SS: if you are wondering what that is – this, without the 120mm of course, there was apparently a 105mm version)
- if the info about Leopard Prototype B having a 90mm gun is confirmed, it is possible it will appear in the game as a premium tank
- currently (!), there are no plans to introduce dedicated AA vehicles
- currently there are no actual plans to replace the AFK Panther with something else, there is however a possibility and a candidate
- T18 is considered to be replaced with something else in very distant future
- it’s possible HESH shells mechanism will get reworked, possibly by adding massive normalization to it (SS: as in 60 degrees or even more, in effect the HESH shells will always impact under favourable angle, simulating the fact that the round is actually more effective against sloped surfaces than against vertical ones)
- there was apparently a project to mount “Blacker Bombard” on a Sherman. It will not be implemented.
- Tier 10 Stronghold will come in “following patch”
- Stronghold battles statistics are kept separate from random battles
- future versions of Stronghold mode will bring more bonuses and new features
- Stronghold bonuses are active for every type of battle (team battles, companies, random)
- a Stronghold can be destroyed only by the clan commander and his deputy(ies)
- Stronghold mode battles can influence personal rating
- mercenaries are planned for Stronghold mode apparently
- tier 8 premium FV4202 for free? “Yeeeeeea, free stuff – always an actively discussed topic. Follow the portal for news.”
- 25 percent RNG won’t be reduced
Nothing much today – again. Only one thing in fact: light tanks in general will be buffed in 9.3 apparently (one thing specifically mentioned was the durability of tracks, a player was complaining that he gets detracks from every highspeed bump – it is not clear however whether the buff will address this or not).
Both 9.3 and 9.4 will be quite interesting I think. Also, you can read new Listy’s article about sea rescue.
Edit: the situation with the bans is fluid. Edited out the part with Czech post references, tomorrow, there will be hopefully more info. What it looks like currently is that at least some of the bans are justified and that it’s a wave of bans aimed at credit card frauds in one way or another. Those affected are asked to contact the Wargaming support in order to resolve the situation – according to WG staff, if the ban is unjust, it will definitely be lifted.
