Upcoming Hotfix Micro-Patch

Hello everyone,

Russian server will recieve a hotfix micro-patch on 3rd of March, so I guess WG EU/NA will not be far behind. This micro-patch will bring the following:

- FOV will return to the way it was before 8.11
- the bug, where the effects of shell impacts on your tank appear with a delay will be fixed

According to previous statements of Storm, this micro-patch will have like 150 megabytes.

Regarding the artillery accuracy bug

Hello everyone,

just short heads-up: a lot of people sent me pictures from battle replays, where artillery shells were flying all over the place outside the aim reticle. Recently, Storm posted an answer to this issue:

“For starters, I will fix the bug, where shell trajectory is displayed incorrectly in replays. So that we have a base to confirm the issue.”

Well, at least they know about it…

27.2.2014

Talked to a guy, who previously wrote me some interesting info. According to him, the 9.0 test will not come earlier than very late March or early April. But… again, unconfirmed (more solid source than the last one though, no offense to anyone)

- P.Bityukov confirms the appearance of early model Panzer IV this year (SS: 9.0)
- SerB states that it’s completely possible there is an error in the US M68 gun weight (it’s too heavy), if there is time, the developers will move the weight from the gun to the turret (SS: the way module weight works is that although some modules have their historical weight, the important part is the sum of all weights, so module weight itself is basically a balance parameter)
- next account migration from RU to US won’t come anytime soon
- no TD hardcap is planned, because artillery (that was hardcapped) has very specific gameplay and TD’s don’t
- SerB confirms that there will be transitions between various branches of the EU tree (SS: for example, the Czechoslovak T-21 into Hungarian Turán branch)
- in the EU tree, tanks in different configurations will not change their nationality, because it would be a mess (SS: specifically, Czechoslovak TNH tanks in various configurations could belong to Sweden, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Latvia etc. – the player was asking, whether by changing its configuration (turret, gun), the tank will switch nationality – yes, it’s a dumb question)
- M103 was picked for HD re-work in 9.0, because it was the only American heavy tank, that was in active service
- Tortoise was picked because it’s well known and high-tier, T-34/85 and IS tanks were picked because they are symbols of Soviet WW2 victory
- the Maus turret flying off in today’s trailer might not be the final version, but Storm states that they have seen a reference video from Syria, where a turret flies for ten seconds (!) after ammo rack explosion
- Storm states that “normal multithreading” (SS: multicore support I think) will not give the game the performance boost everyone expects, it’s not the universal solution to all problems
- Storm adds to the issue above that there is no universal optimization solution that would solve everything, instead, Wargaming has to improve things a bit on 10 different places and the result will come. These places are for example CPU multithread, GPU multithread, reworked grass, trees and bushes render, new optimized anti-aliasing, new optimized water render, landscape render optimization, more active model level of detail, new effects render. There is a lot of work now.
- the points above are being worked on

ASIA (SEA) server: KV-220 for free

Source: http://worldoftanks.asia/en/news/49/28-feb-28-mar-operation-kv-220/

Hello everyone,

SEA server has an interesting mission from February 28th to March 28th: if you earn 50k XP in each tree nation in this one month, you get a KV-220 for free. Usual conditions apply (tier 4+, only top 10 XP slots, random battles only).

Not bad!

However…

If it comes to EU/US, so much for Christmas “OMG BUY KV-220 ONE TIME IN LIFE CHANCE ONLY” advertising… I am sure those guys who bought a tier 5 tank for 50 Euro will be positively thrilled…

Buff my Tank – T-25

Hello everyone,

I usually don’t write “buff my tank” posts (I leave it to Zarax, Priory and EnsignExpendable), but this time, I think it’s warranted, because we are going to talk about a Czech vehicle, that is implemented in the game as tier 5 premium tank – Škoda T-25. Naturally, given the fact it’s actually a premium tank, the chance of it getting a significant buff are quite low, especially since there are other circumstances as well (I’ll get to that a bit later).

Ads coming to World of Tanks?

Hello everyone,

what’s your opinion on ads and ad spam in general? I personally hate it. I understand the importance of having ads for example on small independent sites, but in general… well, you know how it is on the internet. I am equally as annoyed by Wargaming advertising stuff not related to (me playing) World of Tanks by those messages in lower right corner, for example

- advertising e-sports (nope thanks)
- advertising streams (nope)

Well, the Russian server reached kinda “new level” with advertising Sergei Burkatovsky’s (SerB’s) book “Main Date” within World of Tanks.

132948_original

It says “The book of the main game-designer of World of Tanks, Sergei Burkatovsky’s “Main Date” is available for online purchase in book stores. More details on the portal!”. Hmmm… I hope it’s not a sign of things to come.

By the way, the book itself sounds interesting (if I recall correctly, it’s about a man falling through time to the time of WW2, warning the Soviets about impending German invasion), but this is not something I would read in original (reading cyrillic is okay for FTR, but it’s tiring for a late-evening sit-down with a book) and I doubt it will ever be translated to English, because from what I heard, SerB’s literature has the “RUSSIA MUCH STRONK” elements, that would… not sit well with western audience. But that’s just hearsay.
