Possible high tier light replacement: Panzer-Aufklaerer auf E-25

Disclaimer: this is an highly speculative article which tries to find a logical link to a tank design between secondary sources. The following has to be taken as author’s interpretation.

Late war Germany found itself lacking capable light recon tanks amongst its many shortages. There were a few obsolete light tanks pressed into the role but by 1945 they were mostly worn out, with the few working remains hopelessly outmatched by Soviet and Allied fast medium tanks. One answer to this was the usual flurry of paper projects, which however proved to be too complex and expensive (VK 16.02), using precious chassis and making little sense (Recon Panther) or being underpowered from inception for the role (early turreted Jagdpanzer 38 (t) with Panzer IV turret and to a lesser extent the Panzer 38D). Spielberger briefly mentions that the E-25 proposal included a recon tank version but gives no further details, leaving us still into obscurity. There is however one further, unlikely source that might bring us further details, although usually regarded as something very different altogether: Hahn’s “Klein-Tiger”.

The project as described by Hahn might seem a fantasy nonsense and indeed it doesn’t seem to match anything Tiger related, as very well described in this article. That is, as long as we consider the Klein-Tiger as a Tiger related project, however what if it was something entirely different in design and purpose?

“Free” month of premium

Source: http://worldofwarplanes.eu/en/news/4/contest-first-to-top/

Hello everyone,

this concerns mainly tankers, who haven’t yet tried the World of Warplanes. World of Warplanes on both the EU and US server has a competition called “first to the top”.

What’s its goal?

If you manage to level up an entire branch from tier 1 to tier 10 between November 13 and November 27 (2 weeks), you will get a reward of one month of premium account for your account, that is shared between WoT and WoWp. That goal doesn’t depend on any other players. However, if you get that respective tier 10 warplane one of first 20 players on server, you will get a WHOLE YEAR of premium account for free. I don’t think that’s viable to any normal working people, but it’s an option. If you however have absolutely no life whatsoever manage to be the first person overall to buy a tier 10 plane, you will get 10 years of premium account.

So, I think that if any of you guys feels like trying WoWp but is not decided yet, November 13 is the good time to start.

Know your steel?

Hello everyone,

just a thought that came to me. So, I was checking by Facebook an hour or two ago and both Chieftain and Challenger linked to this article: Know Your Steel: KV-1 by Hunter1911. So I thought “this should be interesting” and went to check it out.

The post itself is… hmm… well, not very detailed, but it’s a forum post, not a book. However, what struck me as odd is this line in text:

“The main competition at entering mass production was the Czech model S-2 which was already being massively tested at army polygon of Kubinka with the aim of copying the good solutions.”

Uh…. what? What the hell is a S-2 tank? There was never such a thing as a Czech “S-2″ tank. So I guess the author means “Š-II”, right? I can understand how to a random person the S and Š or 2 and II might mix together, but given the fact it’s a “historically accurate” post I expected something more (Š referred of course to Škoda, while II referred to tank category: roman numbers served as identifiers thus: I – tankettes II – light/medium tanks, III – “breakthrough” tanks)

WG EU fail: Hall of Fame? More like Hall of Bots…

Hello everyone,

so, today, WG EU released the new Hall of Fame. Now, only the VERY BEST players can achieve the eternal glory and be listed there amongst the greatest heroes of World of Tanks!

Or not.

bot

Why the hell is there a bot on second place? Or at least a really bad player. Check out his stats. Colinbrett666 has 45 percent winrate, but 76 THOUSAND battles. If that’s not a bot, then I don’t know. The account was started 938 days ago. That means this guy plays 81,35 battles EVERY day. With average battle duration of 7 minutes, that’s 9,5 hours every day. For last 2,5 years. Right…

Even IF it wasn’t a bot, what’s a guy with 45,34 percent winrate doing there?

Clearly, WG Hall of Bots and/or WG rating are working as intended…

WG EU fail: after a week, portal bug is alive and well

Hello everyone,

remember that portal bug I reported about – the one that displays foreign languages on portal despite the fact you select “English” for example? It was supposed to be fixed by clearing your cache, according to a WG representative. Well, guess what. Today I cleared my cache and…

fail2

Language selected: English. Language displayed: Czech. Well, that’s not really a problem for me, as I am Czech and can read it (I prefer English though). The Gift Shop for Czech players however is slightly more problematic:

funny

Is that Turkish? Seriously, WG, a week?! I mean, I know it takes time to identify bugs, but what the hell…
