“Stalin Remover” mod for 0.8.8

Hello everyone,

I don’t normally recommend or write about mods (I don’t use any at this point anyway), but this is interesting. Presenting you with KawaGreen’s Stalin Remover mod :)

It comes in two versions:

a) Stalin remover

Can be downloaded here

b) Stalin hunter

This replaces the text with a large red box, so you can immediately spot a stalinist in your battle and hunt him down. Very useful, will install this myself :)

Storm on 8.8 settings bug

A quick question about the bugs in settings in 8.8:

The profanity filter setting doesn’t get saved – we know. But a lot of new reports are posted, that the saving of some other settings in the “Game” settings tab don’t get saved. Can you confirm that?

I can say straight away that on our test computers everything is alright. There might be some individual server peculiarities of separate accounts, because in 0.8.8 we transferred many of the settings server-side.

From the comments, it seems that for example the camera settings don’t get saved (it gets resetted each time a player goes to battle), Storm counters that this was actually intentional (oh god, why? it’s annoying as fuck), but he doesn’t know why, because there was no time to deal with it.

Apart from that, it seems only the profanity filter is buggy, Storm states there probably won’t be a hotfix. The bug about the flashing Service icon is also known. Apart from that there seems to be a bug in the aim reticle saving (I can confirm that, they were screwed up the first time I ran the game in 8.8).

Anyway, will continue to monitor this and if there is any solution, I’ll let you know.

- SerB states that the whole E-series was based on the Tiger II design, therefore the E-50 lower frontal plate was nerfed accordingly to 100mm
- in order for the Leopard 1 to have the modern turret with spaced armor of later versions, SerB states that it would also have to have the T-72 as its opponent, and that won’t happen.
- SerB on potential Israeli branch: “They don’t have enough vehicles for a full branch”
- if you see garage interface issues, such as incorrect XP calculations etc., it can be a result of mods installed (such as Jove’s modpack)
- SerB on new rating: “Real men use only two things to measure player quality (and one of them is winrate)” and “I don’t know (why we made the rating) but I don’t care”

New WG personal rating analysis

today, we have something interesting, an analysis of the new personal rating by Edrard. For those who do not know, Edrard is the creator of Efficiency Rating and the owner of wot-news.com – so he is highly competent to comment on this latest Wargaming feature.

And so it was that with the patch 8.8, Wargaming decided to join the list of player rankings with its new invention, called Personal Player Rating (furthermore as PR). This article will consist of a small analysis of this rating, will mention good and bad sides, but whether to use the PR or not, that’s up to you. So for starters, let’s have a look at the formula:

bc – amount of battles played (“battlecount”)
win – winrate (interval 0-1)
surv – survival rate (interval 0-1)
hit – hitrate (0-1)
xp – average XP per battle
dmg – average dmg dealt per battle

The formula seems complicated at first glance, but it is not – its parameters can be seen clearly, including the modifiers and their influence on other values. For this article, I will use a (random) player with following parameters:

Yes, it’s that time of the year again, the Golden Dildo Joystick is coming. Of course, a lot has happened since the last GJ award, so – the real question is: does WG deserve to win this year?

My point of view (as an European player) is: no. Not this time. Despite what WG EU might (and will) offer for victory, it’s not worth it.
