Competition winner!

Okay, this was impressive. We have a winner so soon – to be quite honest, I did not expect it so fast :)

I recieved roughly 70 answers, most were “T-34-T” (which was incorrect). The correct answer was: PCHT-34 (chemical recon tank of the Czechoslovak army). This vehicle was misidentified as T-34-T by the Osprey Vanguard T-34/85 publication and from there, it has spread further.

The winner is: Mikhail800

Honestly, I am impressed. The article describing the error and the picture are not tied together. One more correct answer arrived till then.

Mikhail will be getting his prize soon…

but…

It will be harder next time :)

VK3001P article errata

Hello everyone,

well, looks like I made a “slight” mistake in my VK3001P article. Basically what happened was: I took two sources, that are usually reliable (because they themselves use Jentz, Doyle and Spielberger) as reference: I.Pejčoch’s “Obrněná technika” series and www.valka.cz (which usually uses Pejčoch/Doyle/Spielberger for reference).

- there will be no compensation for Panther engines removed from the vehicles
- apparently, more players using the same nickname won’t be implemented (SS: as in, you won’t be able to choose a nickname that’s already in use)
- players dropping into 6 same maps for 2 days straight? “How terrible” (SS: maps are selected randomly, according to devs)

Tank biathlon in Russia

Thanks to whoever sent me this, next time give proper name so I can credit you :)

Source: http://rt.com/news/first-tank-biathlon-competition-russia-346/

Summary:

Russian Ministry of Defense started organizing a tank-based competition of crew and gunnery tank skills. So far, it’s only a Russian event, but by 2014, NATO and US Army are expected to join.

The basic idea behind the tank contest is simple and repeats the rules of the classic biathlon: cover about 20km in shortest time while successfully hitting your targets.

More details and pictures in the linked article. However, one thing is very interesting: the official MOD video (check the music, familiar?)

Check out the newest Chieftain’s Hatch, guys – deicated to the 75mm/76mm Sherman

Also, for those of you interested in Clan stuff, check out this site called wotclans.net, that shows Clan rating and other stuff.

And there is also Listy’s new article from the Great War…

- 8.8 will bring an interesting feature: players, who lose the battle, but get one of the medals or achievements in the game (you know, sniper, steel wall and all those others) will get the same amout of credits and XP, as if he won!
- according to The_Chieftain, there might be a second Stalin-style “affair” incoming next week:
Q: “The whole Stalin rage came from one incident, raged for a few days, got largely doused by three days of free premium account and unless somehow rekindled (and WG would have to be braindead to poke in this again), it’s not going to reappear on any large scale.”
A: “Yeah, about that…. I think they’re going to poke again next week.”
