More Thoughts of Personal Missions Fail by Tyraforce

More thoughts on the Personal Missions fails

Before I even start, let me make one thing clear. I do not think WG is generally doing a bad job when it comes to WOT development. Yes, there are bugs, lag and late rebalancing, however, compared to the MMOs I had previously played, WOT is pretty solid. I specifically remember one game (DDO), where you sometimes had a group of 12 people going on a 2-hour-long quest, which found the final boss stuck or there was another reason why the quest couldn’t be completed. The support would say “sorry, but you have to do it again”, which frequently caused an amount of frustration WOT cannot compete with.
That said, I struggle to understand how WG managed to fuck up almost every aspect of the PMs. They had been testing and discussing them for months, activated them weeks after they were installed in the patch, yet they still look like something school kids developed during their 2-3 lunch breaks. Again, don’t get me wrong, I like the general idea of PMs and sure welcome an opportunity to give my T34 credit grind a rest but the extent of the fuck ups is just shocking.

NAME FUCK UP: CHECK

“Personal missions are named so because you have to complete them personally.” I wonder if WG realizes that you have to complete ALL the missions personally. You even have to personally buy the tokens to get your WZ mission done, right? But wait, some of these missions force you to platoon! “There are platoon missions, but those too are personal, because every player has their own personal role even in platoon missions.”

Sure. I guess football is a personal game then, cuz every player has his own personal role. The funny thing is that in the mission menu itself WG uses the term ”campaign”, which surprisingly makes sense when referring to a set of stages with a common goal. Why not use it from the start or at least rename it now?

Soldier Training in Portugal

Thanks to whoever sent this to me (accidentally deleted the original e-mail).

Check this out – this is how soldiers trained in Portugal. They had a Patton tank drive over them, trying to avoid being crushed to a pulp while trying to touch the vehicle tracks. The video is from 1990′s and the action starts around 0:50.

Just How Fucked the IM’s Are?

Hello everyone,

as you might have noticed, in last two days, a whole number of threads about errors in World of Tanks individual mission came up. Some of the “bug reports” are simply misunderstood mission parameters, but some are real bugs, the reason of which – my guess – is mistranslation. Check this out, this is a bug, reported to me by Locastan.

TD2 mission, as shown by Locastan, requires you to “damage enemy tank module”:

T-54 (1945) Premium Video

Hello everyone,

Russian videomaker Amway921 published a footage of the upcoming tier 8 Soviet premium medium tank, T-54 Model 1945 (AKA T-54 Prototype).

Basically, it’s a T-54 hull with T-44 turret. You can read more about its history here and read more about its historical characteristics here.

The hull is pretty durable, but the vehicle is quite slow as you can see.

Hull armor: 120/90/45 (60 degrees UPF, 45 LFP)
Turret armor: 180/120/75
Turret traverse: 40 deg/s
Maximum speed: 44/18 km/h (observed in video: 35-40 on flat, 25-35 uphill)
Engine: 520hp

The gun is D-10T:

Penetration: 175/235/50
Damage: 250/250/330
ROF: 7,41
Accuracy: 0,38
Aimtime: 2,6

It will not have limited MM. Preliminary price is 11600 gold. Basically, it’s a poor mobility T-54 with somewhat meh gun but okay armor. If you are into Super Pershing, I guess you could go for it, but for me, it’s not an attractive vehicle. Still, with that amount of armor, it will bully lower tiers.

Wargaming’s Nicholas “Chieftain” Moran Becomes Charity Ambassador

Source: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/234082/OPERATION_SUPPLY_DROP_LAUNCHES_AMBASSADOR_PROGRAM.php

Thanks to Dominatus for this one.

Hello everyone,

Operation Supply Drop is an American military charity, founded by a former soldier Stephen Machuga to support the American troops, active in combat operations by bringing them entertainment in the form of videogames. You can read about it here.

American branch of Wargaming was active in supporting this charity in the past (for example via charity streams and bundles, where players could actually choose to support this particular charity). Recently (13.1.2015), a new “ambassador program” was launched, consisting of various gaming world celebrities supporting the cause. Their task is to – quoting the article:

…fund-raising, program education, veteran-owned business startup mentoring, as well as job and career networking assistance. The Operation Supply Drop Ambassadors will also support the charity’s Thank You Deployment program, which enables wounded veterans to attend video game events to gain a behind-the-scenes insider look and experience first-hand what goes into making and promoting some of their favorite titles.

One of these ambassadors is now Wargaming’s own US server historian Nicholas “Chieftain” Moran, known best for his “Chieftain’s Hatch” article/video series about tanks. So, congratulations, Chieftain and good luck!

Why the fuck is Jessica Chobot there tho… kinda thought she has poor rep in gaming world after that ME3 crap…

IM’s: Mission Exploit

Thanks to Jay for this one.

Hello everyone,

here’s a lovely little exploit for all of you, trying to remain unspotted for the whole battle. It works specifically for the second SPG mission, where you have to remain unspotted the entire battle and do 500 or so damage. Doing the damage is not that hard, getting unspotted throughout the battle is harder. So your team’s folding and you know that soon, enemy tanks will be chasing after you. What can you do?

Drown yourself.

If you drown, you will count as not spotted for the entire battle. You can even drown yourself immediately after you complete the mission criteria just to be safe. And yes, I tested it. My team folded right before:

No Free FV4202 For You!

Hello everyone,

Russian channel WoT Fan brought a video with the upcoming tier 8 premium British MT, FV4202 (that will in the future be replaced by Centurion Action X, but don’t expect this to happen anytime soon).

The most important piece of news is… there will be no free FV4202 for current tier 10 FV4202 owners. Those, who have the FV4202 currently, will simply get it replaced with its successor. This channel is officially supported by Wargaming (it’s a sort of video outlet for WG RU), so yes, this is most likely legit. Well, shit.

The vehicle according to video has following characteristics:

Weight: 44,75 tons
Engine: 510 hp
Power-to-weight: 11,39 hp/t
Hull traverse: 40 deg/s
Maximum speed: 35 km/h

Hitpoints: 1400
Hull armor: 50/50/31
Turret frontal armor: 170mm
Viewrange: 390m

Gun: 20pdr
Penetration: 226/258/102
Damage: 230/230/?
Aimtime: 2,6s
Accuracy: 0,35
Elevation: -10/+20
Turret traverse: 36 deg/s
