according to this Reddit post (thanks to T__A for letting me know), tomorrow, we’ll know more about 8.10.
However, please note, that the earlier released information about test server coming this Friday or so was apparently incorrect. It won’t come this week as far as I know. I will keep you updated.
Also, if you are interested, check out an article by Listy about the origins of Orlik’s medal
- if you enter a battle with premium account activated and it expires during this battle, the income results (which are calculated when the battle is over) will be without premium account bonus
- anti-fortification (concrete-breaking) shells won’t be introduced as separate shells, that would have an increased effect on buildings
- different sigma limits (SS: accuracy spread) for different stages of aim circle movement won’t be implemented (SS: as in, shooting guns when moving your tank would be lot less accurate than it is now)
- Q: “SerB, what tanks are you itching to buff and nerf?” A: “Everything. Nerfing only, of course.”
- SerB is completely satisfied with the current amount of scouts in battles
- T71 much stronger than AMX 13-75? “How terrible…”
- according to WG data, the amount of ammorack explosion in game has not increased
- the movement of tanks in WoT works so that each map has a grid and tanks move on its coordinates, this grid is very, very thick (like, has many points), the thickness of the grid is variable, but the poits are sometimes less than 1mm (in ingame measures, where a tank is for example 3m tall) apart from each other
- SerB states the tier 10 japanese tank STB-1 will be a Leopard-Patton hybrid
- SerB states that when Havok is introduced, the stuff on your tank (boxes, tools etc.) will fall off not only when hit by AP shells, but also when hit by for example HE splash
- it’s possible the stuff falling off will not only be handled client-side, but serverside as well (SS: this also implies the fact the Havok physics will bring changeable armor models like Storm wrote earlier)
today, we are going to have a look at one of the best known Hungarian tanks, the Turán.
The year 1940 was critical for the Hungarian forces, because they were caught somewhat by surprise by the stunning success of German attack on Poland. The Hungarians were well aware of how effective the armored fist of the Blitzkrieg could be, but even they (or the Germans for that matter) could imagine the extent of the success. Whetever we might think of the Polish army, it was a force to be reckoned with and for a major regional power to fall so quickly was unheard of.
a few invite codes. However, I would like to stress out: IF YOU DON’T NEED INVITE CODES, DON’T REDEEM THEM, LEAVE THEM FOR OTHERS! This concerns the Alienware codes.
now, this is not something I do every day, but this time, the cause is good, so… here goes.
Introduction
I think that all of us, who are playing World of Tanks and are interested in history do realize that the world of tanks (not the game, the real world) is not just about the steel monsters. It’s also (even mostly) about the men who rode them to battle. Real life veterans. There are World War 2 veterans still alive, men who actually fought on all those tanks we use in WoT today. The greatest war in history is ancient history for us, yet for them it was something they really experienced sometimes costing them their health, sometimes all their friends or family members.
Wargaming America actually donated to veteran organizations in the past, yet we have seen no such thing from Wargaming EU. The “official” argument is that there are too many nations and veteran organizations in Europe to donate. Instead, you might remember that silly anonymous “charity” for “war children” (and I think everyone can imagine how big charities operate, eating up 50 percent of the donations just to “cover their costs”.)
Well, several Czechoslovak community members (including me) decided to do something about it.
The people involved in this are Carramba66 (who came up with this and organized it), me, Akcido, Uanubis, CatfoodCZ (well known Czech streamers and videomakers) and Clearevil (yes, a moderator). Basically, what happened was, Carramba came to us all for support – he contacted the official Czechoslovak veteran organization Československá Obec Legionářská with this and they did agree to back it up. Please note that this charity is NOT supported or organized by Wargaming, it’s an individual venture.
How it works
It’s very simple: there is a transparent account (everyone can see movements on it) opened by Carramba66. Everything, that gets donated to the account, will go straight to that one veteran, handpicked by the ČSOL veteran organization (to who, that is entirely up to them). No “fees”, no money loss, no bullshit. Just a simple transfer. Details will be posted below. I will keep an eye on this and will make sure there are no complications in any part of the process – after all, I am giving my reputation here at stake too and so are the others. The legal aspect is covered by a binding legal contract between the veteran organization and Carramba66 personally. This contract will be made public.
We hope to raise enough money to make this man’s Christmas better, perhaps enough for a week at some health spa and to buy some medical accessories this man needs. For my part: ALL DONATIONS FOR FTR between now (today, 25.11.2013) and 17.12.2013 (23:59) will be transferred to the charity account. A list of donators will also be issued, so everything is transparent.
Carramba66 made a video (you can turn on the English subtitles)
So, by now you are probably asking:
Why should I donate to a Czech veteran, since I am a foreigner?
Well, the answer is simple. You don’t have to. There are thousands of veterans still alive in your own countries, who, especially in former Eastern Bloc, are living in poor conditions. Your own veterans need you. go, google your own veteran organizations and see how you can help your own people, how you can honor them for sacrificing sometimes everything they had apart from their lives for your country.

Donation drive for tankers, veterans of WW2. The entire sum donated will be given as a gift to one of the former tankers, picked for us by the official Czechoslovak Legionnaire Community. The money will be used to buy medical equipment, of for example for spa treatment.

Some of you might be interested in the fact that with the current weekend event, WG EU achieved a fail hattrick. First, there was no discount on E-25 (and now it is), then the new 8.9 TD’s were included even though this was not indended and now, they can’t even make the icons for them right. As a bonus, when you click the new TD names, you will not be redirected to the Wargaming site, but to Wotwiki. Sometimes I really wonder whether this is an intentional trolling or not.
- there are apparently no systematic plans to increase the overall skill of players in WoT
Q: “Why did Zlobny leave Wargaming?”
A (SerB): “To every thing there is a season… a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to kill, and a time to heal, a time to break down, and a time to build up, a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak, a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” (King James Bible, Ecclesiastes 3,5,7)
- machineguns on the top of the turret are not a part of the collision model, they can’t be hit and they do not count towards tank height when it comes to spotting (you can’t be spotted because a machinegun is sticking above the bush)
- SerB doesn’t know of any tanks with turrets without crewmembers, that would fit World of Tanks – there was the idea of Leopard prototype C (SS: Borgward), but it won’t be implemented
- some dive bombers (their modifications) like Ju-87 and Pe-2 will appear in WoWp
- some vehicles have machineguns on the top of the turret in order to be easier to recognize (at first glance)
- whether TD’s will or will not be nerfed is not connected to the fact whether Zlobny is or is not working in WG
- in connection with Zlobny leaving WG, there will be some changes in tank balance (SS: well, that didn’t take long)
- so far, WG has no candidate for a tier 8 premium British tank
- there will be no optional hulls for premium tanks
- SerB will not be rebalancing tanks personally “like in the old days” (he adds he never actually did that even before)
So, according to info from iScendig (EU community organizer – thanks to EmperorSafirius for that, at least I hope it was you who told me that on FB), there will be some sort of new QA thread in English on EU forums. Well, a lot of things suddenly make even more sense, don’t they?
Since this was openly posted on US forums too, I think it’s no longer a secret: Pavel “Zlobny” Myreev, Wargaming’s chief of tank balance left Wargaming recently. I’d like to openly thank him this way for participating in FTR QA and being a very friendly and nice person overall and also for (whatever you might think of the game) doing a good job on balancing the ingame vehicles in the past.
- Havok will introduce the destructable houses option: some buildings will be made destructable. A player asked whether their debris will be material (eg. it will be possible to create your own barricade from debris) or immaterial. SerB states large debris will be material, smaller will be immaterial, as the server power is not sufficient to calculate everything
- SerB also states (to the issue above) that they will have to be very careful with selecting what to make destructable and what not, because developers don’t want such situations as blocking the entrance to the base with debris, making it unreachable
- ingame RhB WT 150mm gun does have a muzzle brake, it’s those slits at the end of the barrel
- cyclone filter does not increase engine fire chance
- there will apparently be no regular “cutter” (torpedo) boats in WoWs (devs are considering their use in “Port” battles)
- it’s possible Petlyakov Pe-2 (or some version thereof) will appear in WoWp
- there is a WG Moscow branch, but it’s not a development studio
Also, check out Overlord’s post on WoT:Blitz, apparently it got rewarded before it was even betatested.
I thought I wouldn’t have to post this, but after this shit appears over and over on US and EU forums and I recieved like 15 mails with this, I just want to make one thing clear:
This blog post:
http://www.worldoftanks-wot.com/updates/wot-9-0/
is full of FAIL, I don’t know who makes that blog, but it’s an idiot or a troll, it’s completely made up or mashed together from scraps from FTR. Especially the “Chinese leak” changes are complete crap (the “Chinese” part appeared – and was debunked – months ago).
